Maine part 3

Took this picture just about as I began to start to feel queasy. The next hour of sailing was about the opposite of the enjoyable, relaxing ride I'd imagined.




Ate yummy clam chowder from a restaurant patio at Kennebunkport harbor. Luckily I made it window-shopping and back to the car before the downpour later that afternoon.

Maine Seafood

Experiencing Maine Seafood at it's best:



Lobster: new experience for me. I think about once a year is plenty.

Crab cake sandwiches: favorite so far. Already a crab cake fan from dc days, but the one I had on Peaks Island was absolutely delish.

Fried clam roll: we had this the first night here in Kennebunk. I hadn't had lunch as we were traveling all day, so anything sounds good. Considering that the texture of clams aren't my favorite, and that I don't really enjoy fried food, I surprisingly scarfed this down with pleasure. The side of coleslaw was probably the most perfectly flavored cole slaw I've ever eaten.

Cafe by the beach in Ogunquit: I went with a good ol' brownie Sundae. So, so good.

My favorite part of Maine so far:



Lunch at Portland lighthouse park.




Boats docked in downtown Portland.




The view from the deck at our beachhouse. You can hear the ocean, and be at our private beach in 5 minutes.



And then there's the adorable kids I get to play with.

Backpacking in Moose Meadows

If you're gonna hike 10 miles up and down a mountain while lugging a heavy backpack around, you might as well hike through fields of gorgeous wild flowers while doing it. And you better make sure you enjoy the sunset from the top of the mountain that night. Add in some fresh spring water and all that will make up for the fact that you will barely be able to walk up and down stairs the next day.

Summer fun at Snowbird

Last week Luca, Lucy, Haley and I went up to Snowbird to check out the alpine slides and other fun stuff they have up there. I love getting paid to do really fun things! Haley and Lucy are the best playmates, so that makes it extra enjoyable. I didn't get a pictures of the sweet alpine slides they have there, but they're pretty awesome. We also took the tram up to the top of the mountain and loved the view from 11,000 feet up. Luca's favorite part was mining for rocks, which led to his current rock obsession. I guess it's better than his bug obsession which led to him wanted to go on a bug hunt every day last month.
