First Benihana Dining Experience

We decided on a whim to go to Benihana for my birthday dinner and it was a hit with our boys. They loved the hats, they loved the chef, they loved the food...it was quite entertaining to watch them so excited for the whole experience. Hey, at this age it doesn't take much!

Just another breakfast at the Hale house....

Brooks is 3!

We celebrated Brooks' birthday by going to the circus with the Smith family. They recently relocated to TX from Chapel Hill, NC and we are so excited to have them here! They are, after all, the couple that introduced Mike and I.

We had an animal/circus theme for Brooks birthday in honor of our outing and Brooks requested the following special meals for his birthday. Frosted Flakes for breakfast (Grandpa Doc the dentist is cringing) and pizza for dinner. When I was growing up, we got to plan our menu for the entire day on our birthday and sit in the front seat of the car whenever we went anywhere that day. When you are one of three kids, many a fight ensues over who gets to sit in the front. Obviously, Sully and Brooks are too young, but they have that exciting milestone to look forward to, haha! :) Brian, Lindley, and Doc came over for our birthday dinner night and Brooks was so happy to have them there.

Mom's Big Birthday

The women in my immediate family (Mom, Karen, and Katie) headed down the road to Lost Pines Resort, outside of Austin, for my Mom's 60th birthday weekend.

We had such fun. We rode bikes in the morning (they were those old, classic bikes and I had a "Maria" moment from Sound of Music - - my all time fave movie for those who know me well). We spent time at the spa getting pampered, snacked on birthday cupcakes, played board games, floated the lazy river down at the pool, and had FANTASTIC food. It was pretty much the perfect weekend and I hope my Mom had as much fun as we did....she deserves it!!

Thanks to all of Mom's family and friends who sent special birthday wishes her way in preparation for the weekend - - one of the highlights of the weekend for her, I'm sure!!

Lindsay Paints....

...for the first and last time. Hey, I'm kidding. I went for a social date w/my Jr. League group. I was looking forward to seeing everyone, but dreading the activity because I am OH SO NOT ARTISTIC. Turns out that it was (practically) paint by number and so it didn't turn out to be so bad, after all! It was actually pretty fun.

Summer Fun

The Watts Wonders, Installment 3

Our friends, Dr. and Mrs. Watts, struck again w/a summer surprise. You might recall they sent our boys Christmas and Easter cookie decorating care packages. They outdid themselves again with the perfect summer surprise...a popsicle maker. We have had so much fun using it this summer. We will pour grape or orange juice in the molds for a quick treat or get a little "fancier" with do-it-yourself "oreo pops" My little popsicle makers think this is the coolest thing ever - - thank you to the Watts!

Port O'Connor w/Mr. P

Our good friend, Preston, invited us to his parents' beach house in Port O'Connor, TX for a weekend. We had recently returned from Alabama and Colorado, but figured why not??

Mike had to go to San Antonio for work the Friday before so we headed down on Thurs and checked into La Cantera for a night before heading to the beach. Friday was breakfast and a fun-filled day at the pool while Mike was working until Brooks decided to take a dive into a chair in our hotel room on our way to checkout. Meanwhile, Sully lost a croc somewhere between our hotel room and our car. Since it was a beach weekend, all we had was crocs! I must have looked quite the sight running into the urgent care facility in SA with a son bleeding profusely from the head in one arm while carrying my 5 yr old in my other arm since he only had one shoe and it was 100 degrees on the pavement. All ended well with a butterfly stitch and a trip to Target for new shoes...

Next, off to POC for a great weekend. Boys got to ride in the air boat, dig in the sand, and learn to cast (thanks to some lessons from Mr. P in the backyard). Mike, Preston, and I cooked a couple of good dinners (correction: Mike and Preston, delete I) and hung out on the upstairs porch after the boys went to sleep. So much fun!!
