Cookie Decorating
No cookie party this year, too much going on....but, boys still wanted to have a few friends over to decorate so we did a very relaxed, low key, slice and bake cookie kind of event.
Great Wolf Lodge
Our husbands were out of town for the weekend on business, so my friend Kim and I headed out to Grapevine to check into Great Wolf Lodge for the night. I've never been and WOW!...is it a little boy's paradise or what?? I didn't take a single pic since we spent most of our time in the water park and didn't want to get my phone wet, but highlights include the water park, puppet show, snow in the lobby, and a huge arcade. Kim's daughter Taylor preferred to stay in one area in the water park, while the boys wanted to go everywhere so I was in charge of the boys! I was pretty nervous in the beginning keeping an eye on everyone because it was a madhouse, but got into the swing of things. I love roller coasters, fun rides, and so boys and I went on the big slides and I think I had as much fun as they did. I was so proud of all three (and incidentally the older boys needed some "convincing" to ride the big slides, while my 4 yr old the daredevil was all in from the beginning. ;) Here's a pic of the room we stayed in.
Santa Pics
Primrose had an event for the kids/parents at Willowbend mall where they opened the Santa line early (at 8 am!) before the mall opened to the public...genius! No line and crafts to boot.
Friends
My friend, Jocelyn's son Reese, and Brooks have become good buddies hanging out on Tuesdays in the elementary school cafeteria while the Moms stuff folders. We've started switching off on Thursdays - - I'll take Reese for several hours while Jocelyn does errands and then vice versa. Let me tell you, this has been a godsend all around. Boys love playing together and get social time and the Moms get a break to run errands without kids in tow. It has been great! This is the boys after lunch and ice cream at our house (hence the ice cream all over their cute little faces). They have very similiar personal
ities and are SO sweet together.
Neighborhood Walk
I'm sure you wear similar attire for a walk around the neighborhood. ;) N
othing like a 4 yr old in a Santa hat walking around the neighborhood singing Christmas carols. He got several honks and had a few people slow down to hear him sing. Cutie pie!
Church Advent Festival
We go to this every year and every year they change it up a bit. I love what they did this year - different stations where the boys could make their own ornaments that symbolized something related to the Christmas Story. (Sun = Son of God, Angels, Doves (Peace on Earth), etc) Very special and made for a meaningful conversation regarding the real reason for the season on the way home. Loved it! ;)
Turkey Trot
I joined Sully for the 1/2 mile Turkey Trot at his school shortly before Thanksgiving. Popped over to school at 2 for a short walk and then returned to work. It sure is nice being less than 5 minutes from his school.
First Lost Tooth!
Here's our friend Brian (the dentist) trying to help Sully get his first tooth loose enough to come out...it came out shortly thereafter and Sully got a crisp new $1 bill from the Tooth Fairy. Funny, I used to get a couple of quarters and these days I've heard of kids getting $10 or $20! My, how times have changed.
Game Day
Brooks, Sully, and I have started the tradition of board games after school on Thursday afternoons. We come home from school and have popcorn and spritzers (grape juice and Sprite) and play a different game each week. Favorites include Battleship (pictured) and ABC Bingo!
Fort Worth Zoo
My Mom and Sis came to town for some early holiday shopping and a night in a downtown hotel, so fun! Meanwhile, Mike and the boys spent the day at the Fort Worth Zoo. This was their second visit, with both trips being "boys only". Fine by me, I am not a zoo person so I was happy for them to go together! ;)
Halloween
Had a great Halloween with our dear friends, the Herrings. Cam was the cutest little elephant you've ever seen and Indiania Jones and my Clone Trooper had a blast and probably would have trick or treated all night if I had let them, I suspect.
Park Cities Y Halloween Day
We've really bonded with Miss Stacey, Brooks preschool teacher from last year. Over the summer, she changed jobs and is now the Preschool Director at the Park Cities Y. She babysits regularly and stops by for dinner every now and then.
She invited Brooks to the Y's Halloween trick or treating and craft day so Brooks and I headed over there for
the day and had a blast. We love you, Miss Stacey!
