Fun Weekend w/the Smiths

So great to have our dear friends the Smiths in Dallas after their move from North Carolina.

We spent most of the weekend w/them this past weekend and had a great time. Dinner Friday night at Casa Mamas, early morning hunt for Ryan and Mike Sat, Aidan's basketball game, and a movie for the Moms while the Dads watched the kids post hunting trip. (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is EXCELLENT, by the way). We capped it off w/dinner at Napoli's out by the Smiths on Sat night. Our kids had so much fun playing with the Smith kiddos...they are going to grow up to be good buddies I think, I can tell already!

Sunday we recuperated and enjoyed the beautiful weather! It was in the 70's in the Big D in January! The boys and I hit the bike trail and then went to the park while Mike got our dinner prepped for grilling out later that evening. Wonderful weekend. And, my husband can cook!! Wow, he constantly amazes me w/his talent...especially because I am so lacking in that area.

First Presentation for School

They start them early, folks! Who knew we would be putting together a history presentation in Pre-K?! Sully was assigned a historical African American figure, Elijah McCoy, and had to create a presentation with facts and pictures on a posterboard.

He is 5, so outside of printing off some facts for him, I let him design and decorate the whole thing himself. And, people, there were some professional quality presentations at this thing. Did I mention he was 5?? :) I decided early on that he was going to do this and whatever he wanted to do was great with me at this age. It didn't need to be anything fancy.

I joined his school at lunch on MLK day to listen to each child give their presentation and they all did a great job! I was so proud of Sully, too, getting up in front of his friends and their parents and reciting his facts. Well done, Sully! I got to eat lunch with him afterwards before heading back to work. Fun day!

Happy Birthday, Peggy!

We missed Granny Peg's birthday while we were in Arizona so we headed out to Denton last week to take her and Aunt Beth to lunch.

It was great to see them and of course WE were supposed to be treating her and she had been cooking to make sure to send us home with a yummy chicken dinner for later that night. You're the best Granny Peg.

Aunt Beth brought the boys Christmas gifts and it was wonderful to see her, it's been too long.

Peggy had been saving up breadcrumbs to feed the ducks so although it was FREEZING outside this day the boys still wanted to stop by the duck pond. Brooks was so funny, he had a ball feeding the ducks but as soon as he ran out of bread he took off running to the car shouting "I'm cold Mama, I'm cold Mama!".
