Kurt and I each wrote one of the following poems today. It's hard to tell who wrote which one, but we would like you to decide which one is better. The winner of this contest will receive a relaxing spa worthy foot rub- so this is SERIOUS!
Poem #1
One day Kurt was born
all he would eat were bushels of corn
as he grew he asked for more
instead of one bushel he ate four
Corn was brought from miles around
until not one kernal could be found
no longer a baby but a giant was he
"I want some corn!" he yelled down at me
We looked under cars, under trees, under boats
We looked under pigs, under seas, under goats
"I am so hungy" he cried with a stomp
His tears poured down creating a swamp
"Here Mr. Kurt try one of these"
It was Desiree holding three tiny peas
"This isn't corn" the giant protested
But he ate one and waited until it digested
"Yummy peas!" he said and the town cheered "hurray!"
We're saved because of the great chef Desiree
Now all that is heard is singing and laughter
And everyone lived happily ever after!
Poem #2
Merry Christmas to ALL
hope you ALL
have a BALL
drinking away your festive WASSAIL
and singing carols down the HALL
what presents from the MALL
did you hide out in the STALL?
maybe an ice cube tray or a china DOLL?
did you retain the WHEREWITHALL
to hang some decorations on the WALL?
Jimmy is near the cliff Y'ALL?
please CALL
and tell him not to FALL!
he has the GALL
to go right up to the edge with his friend RANDALL
who is very TALL
but seems to BAWL
every time he hits his head on the MANTLE
let me pick your zit CRANDALL
it's not a zit but a FRECKLE
why did SAUL
change his name to PAUL?
remember the time you tried to HAUL
that big load and gave it your ALL
vote for this poem one and ALL
that makes no sense at ALL, ALL Y'ALL!
Let us know... you decide :)

Root of the Problem
I'm just going to tell this design story in pictures
This finale has taken months to finish. We just couldn't get it right. Hopefully we like this long enough to keep it this way for a while. We found the root up the canyon and brought it home to clean, stain and clear coat before getting it on the wall. Fun/Long project.
I guess we've got an earthy style. ;) What do you think?

Bed and Breakfast
Welcome back! (That's for myself. It's been awhile since I've been blogging.)
Well most recently Kurt and I are wondering if we should open up our own B & B. We've had quite the year of visitors. My sister Destinee stayed with us for about 2 months after coming back from her mission in February until she started school at BYU. Then we were privileged to host Dionna for a couple of weeks in August and again this October and November until she heads out to Argentina for her mission on November 17th. September 1st my oldest sister, Delisa, and her dog, Wellington, came to stay with us for 3 months until Wellington is permitted to enter Hawaii where my sister and her husband have moved to. Since my parents are still in Chile on their mission we are now the proud owners of a basement storage. I feel very blessed that we have a home big enough to accommodate everyone and until the basement is cleared out I'll just try to avoid that area.
