Backpacking the Wind Rivers

Each year since we've been married Kurt and I have tried to go on a backpacking trip. Ever since our first trip to Titcomb Basin in the Wind Rivers, WY, I have looked forward to the peace, quiet and alone time I get to spend with Kurt on these trips. Oh sure a week of eating nuts and oatmeal can get to ya but nothing beats the beauties we've seen.

Here's a video Kurt put together of this year's trip to the Cirque of the Towers and East Temple Peak.

Day 1 - Drive to Big Sandy Trailhead.  Backpack to Big Sandy Lake (6 miles)
Day 2 - Day hike to the Cirque of the Towers.  Return to camp at Big Sandy Lake (6 miles)
Day 3 - Backpack to Clear Lake (1.5 miles)
Day 4 - Backpack past Deep Lake to Temple Lake (3 miles)
Day 5 - Ascend East Temple Peak.  Backpack to Big Sandy Lake (9 miles)
Day 6 - Backpack to Big Sandy Trailhead (6 miles).  Drive home

Here are a few more of my favorite pictures from our trip
We saw and heard lots of Marmots

Tuna and crackers never tasted so good

My ankle bone got so tender from my new boots I had to stuff socks in there to cushion it.

Heading to Deep Lake

Loved all the Cairns we got to follow

Don't expect any help from Gooch! He was so wiped out

Next year we're off to the Grand Canyon!

I'm Crafty

What is it about being crafty that scares off some women? Is it the fact that we didn’t like sitting long enough as teenagers or kids to work on them , or because we played sports we’re not girlie enough for them, or are we too lazy to even try so we say we’re no good at them?  Whatever the excuse I was one of the pack shouting from the streets “I’m not crafty!”

Two months ago I was invited to a craft night with some gals on the block.  I hesitated to go because again “I’m not crafty,” but I realized Kurt would be at a scout camp that night and it would be an easy way to divert me from missing him.

I did have a lovely time and while my project was very dinky and simple my toes had gotten wet in the craft ocean. The next month as we were deciding what to make as a group for craft night I realized I had hardly any decorations for the 4th of July. There were ideas galore on Pinterest and something came over me. I’m not sure what it was but a craft fire I had smoldered for so long burst into flames and I ignited with a desire to create.

Here are my creations so far
