Fourth day of school today.

This whole week was pretty relaxed, cos most of the tuts have yet to commence :p Sigh... anyway here are my confirmed subjects, for now... after a good few days of non-stop mulling, brooding, contemplating... But anyway, these subjects are subject to changes (pun intended) in the following week. We've got till next Friday to confirm everything. Isn't our arts fac really cool. On the contrary, the NUS bidding thing REALLY sucks. Poor you all.

USA Today. History.
Perspectives on Crime. Criminology.
The World Since WW II. History again. (Sigh. I wonder why myself. Isn't that the whole point why I dropped Hist 7 in JC??!!? Gonna need your help on this, Perrin :p)

Lastly, I've got Australia in Asia, which comes under Geography. I am totally reluctant on doing this sub cos it falls on Friday. My one and only lesson on Friday. I was hoping for a loooong weekend with a free Friday this time, but... there just isn't anything else that I can take. Introductory Micro-economics? Yeah yeah. No thanks. SIGH. I hate it when a single lecture (at a goddam 11am!!!!!) has to ruin the whole free Friday thing!!! >.< Okay okay, I know I shouldn't be avoiding a subject just because it falls on Friday, but still.

Anyway I totally made a fool out of myself at the Linguistics (which I decided to give up because the times clashed with Criminology) lecture on Tuesday. I was about 3 mins late and the theatre was already full. In all that haste to get a seat I went to the last row, spotted what looked like a seat and went right over to the guy sitting beside it and asked, "Hi excuse me, is it alright if I sit here?" ... with my finger pointing at the... uh... seat. He looked at me, somewhat with raised eyebrows and put his hand down where the "seat" was supposed to be and moved it up and down, showing me that there was nothing but just air. I looked down, and then realised it was a seat alright. An empty seat, literally. It had only the part where you could rest your back on, without the other part where your butt goes. In short, there is no way anyone could sit there.

It was one of those moments when I felt like digging a hole and dropping in and never coming out to face the world again. You get the idea. I hurriedly said a "oops sorry!!" (half laughing at myself and smiling sheepishly at the rest of the people down that row who were probably giggling to themselves too) and turned to walk away... when I heard one of them call me and point to an empty seat in the middle of that row. Oh well. And I went to sit there... in between all those people who were probably giggling to themselves just now.

I really really enjoyed the Linguistics lecture and the lecturer though. It pained me terribly to say goodbye to it... oh well. Life's full of tough choices.

This is for Dawn (if you're still my faithful reader, heh): Hey I actually went to check out the Global Ecology and Biogeography class... you know, just for the hell of it. Ick!!! You were absolutely right! It was terribly bad - one of the assignments required me to take a trip down to the Melbourne Zoo (at my own time - in other words, all by myself) to observe chimpanzees in their "habitat". Read me - NO.

That's all for now... been really busy with house hunting these few days... Alv is coming over in a month's time and we agreed to share an apartment (unfortunately for me, kinda). Will upload some pics (of the prospective places) for you all to see soon. I am just too lazy now :p

Anyways, just caught the first episode of Alias - Season II. Jennifer Garner and Michael Vartan kill me. Used to be mad over Michael Vartan when I was in upper sec. It's all coming back to me now :p

But when you touch me like this
And you hold me like that
I just have to admit that
It's all coming back to me.

Just got back to Mellyland early this morning... like about 6 am. I hate arriving at such times - when I'm half asleep and terribly worn out... but I hate morning flights at 10 am too... so I guess, 8.50 pm is still the better of the two.

There wasn't any drama fest at the airport when I left, as usual. Returning to Melbourne has become an "Aiyah, you come back so often... very fast one" event for myself and my family... but last night when I left, it was the first time since last July that I actually had tears in my eyes. After waving a last wave to Mom and H, I walked on and refused to turn back anymore 'cos my eyes were getting teary. Called Z, HJ and XH to say my goodbyes just before boarding the plane - all while holding back the tears which were about to fall. Managed to keep them from falling eventually... cos I am gonna be back again in about 4 months or so. Seems so far away now... but it indeed is a good thought to look forward to.

Sat beside this really nice Aussie couple returning home from a holiday-business trip. Husband was on the business, wife on the shopping holiday :p It all started when they said to me "You've got a really cute elephant!" the moment I sat down (As usual, Xiao Xiang always does me proud whenever I take him out... heh). Anyway, we (me and the husband) got down to talking about how good "Finding Nemo" was, because they were showing it on board. He was telling me how awesome the game (PS-II version) is and I told him about how the film rocked. "You've seen it twice?! And you're gonna see it again??!" was his reaction. "Yeah!!" I replied. ^_^ And so all 3 of us watched it together. How cute.

Turned out this guy works in the video games industry as a games export manager (Big money??). He told me that if I bought a PS-II, he'd give me "Finding Nemo" (legal one!!!) for free. Isn't he nice! But I don't think I'd get it cos everyone has a PS-II now and I could just... ha ha. Freeload! Besides, I don't see myself making use of it often. Imagine owning a PS-II with just one game - Finding Nemo?

Meeting the rest of the gang for dinner later at 1930. Been a month since I last saw Fai and Kenn :>

Don't take your love away from me
Don't leave my heart in misery
If you go then I'll be blue
'Cos breaking up is hard to do.

First and foremost I would like to say a big "Thank You" to Piggy and Jean the Iron Lady :) for giving me the steps to uploading pics onto my blog. I've got myself a geocities page and hopefully I can get my pics on by tonight. You guys are the best.

Too tired to update my blog last night cos I came home slightly after midnight - yup, my outing with KQ was pretty alright, though it was so darn obvious that he was nervous. Ha ha ha. Well, it can't be helped... it's someone's first time out alone with a gal (good thing he was honest) :p Met him at Orchard MRT Sembawang Music Store (SMS) at about 6.40pm - decided to be intentionally, fashionably late. (Thank you HJ for the suggestion) :p Said hi and then we went our separate ways (in the store). I thought it was quite a dumb thing to do but... oh well... we were into different genres of music =)

After like 10 mins in SMS, we really had no where to go so we went to... HMV. bLah. He said he wanted to check out some CDs which could not be found at SMS. Great - so it turned out to be CD Hunting Day. Walked from Orchard MRT to HMV, where we went our separate ways again. Was stuck at Chinese section listening to the new Shun Zi and Chyi Yu albums (they rock!!!) while he went to the Japanese collection. After 45 min we were done and then realised it was time for dinner. The question was... "where?"

Walked past the "Swensen's" beside Hello Singtel and I distinctly heard him say "Swensen's?" as we passed. After a few moments of "are you really okay with that?" (Sigh) we decided to queue. We weren't even close to getting inside when he asked "Can we change to another place?" (double sigh) So we ended up at NYDC Wheelock Place (He's never heard of or been to NYDC *hhhhhhh!!!!*). Both of us ordered baked rice. Moments later the waiter came up to us saying they only have a portion of rice left. *hint hint??* So KQ, being the very nice gentleman, volunteered to take the pasta. Not bad for a first time outing with a gal :p Minutes later the same waiter came up again saying they have run out of rice, and if we mind having pasta instead. Grrrrrr. I hate pasta. But we had no choice then cos it was already past 8 and we had to catch a movie at 9. Arrrrggghhhh.

Pasta was bad - I think it was solely because it was pasta. Secondly, they both took a million years to arrive and we were in a rush for the film. Anyway, the double expresso I ordered was worse. It was so bitter I swear it could have kept me awake for a year. Gulped it down nonetheless >.<

Finished dinner at about 8.50 pm (sheesh) and we pia down to PS in a cab. Cab fare was 2.90 hahaha. 50 cents for a taxi ride from Wheelock to PS - ultra cool. Made it just in time for the movie (My Dream Girl starring Zhao Wei and Ekin Cheng). Quite entertaining although it doesn't exactly make alot of sense. (But we can't expect much I guess - it's Hong Kong we're talking about here) We were early enough to watch the ads :p I usually try going in early for them when I watch a film. Watched the "Turn Left Turn Right" trailer for the first time and was once again reminded that I won't be around to catch it. Sniff. Next films on the list - Terminator 3 (I am not excited but already promised Z) and *blush* The Lizzie McGuire Movie.

Went home in 133 - walked from PS to Bugis (Like, a bit redundant?). Suddenly he suggested getting off about 2 stops away and walking home instead. Haha. (Guys, is this what NS does to all of you??!!) Tossed a coin to decide which way to take. Tails told us to walk down Serangoon Park, where the landed properties are. And so we did. Passed by our Primary School - how nostalgic. Got home in about 15 min. It was a quiet walk - we didn't talk much, just enjoyed the silence and possibly the cricket calls. Nice.

I am going out soon. Continue about my Sunday later.

Do you mean what you say
When there's no one around
Watching you watching me?

Madonna - Take a Bow

Omg. This song rocks like a stone. 10/10 for Madonna and Babyface.

Happening day.

Does anyone here know how to put up pictures on blogs? I'm a hopeless computer illiterate who is quite desperate to learn how to put up pretty pics for my dear friends to see.... right here on this blog. Sigh. Do email, sms or call me. Please.

Btw, my softhome.net email address is getting on my nerves - what with all those spams and junk mail and trashy stuff... from now on I am off to a fresh new start with pacnet. People, please email me at jay_fantasy@pacific.net.sg as of today. My email address has changed, but not my lurrve & support for Jay *grins* Waaaah... has anyone heard "bu la ge guang chang" (bu la ge - Prague? I'm assuming) by JoLin? Jay was the one who wrote the melody and I thought it rocked!

Anyway, today's events -

My beauty sleep was interrupted by Zhilin's call - at approximately 9.45 am. Blaaaaah. The conversation went as follows... of course, paraphrased in my own words. I learnt that in GP. Phooooooeey.

"Lynn... go for NJC funfair leh..."
"Huh? Thought I told you last night I not going liao...."
"Go leh... Ying specially changed her tuition time because of this leh..."
"Huh... errr... okay lah...."

Reached NJ at 12.30pm. Met Zhilin and Y2, then starting walking towards the school. Well, as everyone knows, we had to walk towards school cos we weren't exactly in school yet - NJ's built on a hill with possibly 1001 staircase steps. By the time I made it to the canteen, I was already panting like an exhausted dog. Once again reminded of the fact that I'm sooooooo bloody unfit.

The fair was really an eye-opener. Mind you, they had stuff like the Pirate Ship (a mini one, of course) and the Spinning Teacups. Hello??? Tell me who the hell's gonna ride on them? What appalled me was that they even had this little room thing with air blowing inside it - funfair coupons were flying around as the "wind" blew and people were supposed to go inside to try grab hold of as many free coupons they could. Duh?!? Are they trying to be low class like Channel 8 "ying wan jin you wan li huan le zhou mo ye"? (why the hell do they have such long gameshow titles anyway?!) And do they expect people like us to go in there to make a fool out of themselves?

Weather was sooooo bloody hot. Saw DC at his calligraphy stall at the atrium, wearing that classic black shirt which I've always liked. He still looks quite the cute, just like the old days. Hoho. Asked if we wanted to buy any of his works on sale... price would be determined by the number of words on the paper. That is how dumb! Was tempted to buy his shu fa (I've always been a great fan) but no money. Sounds silly but yes I didn't have enough money to buy coupons to buy his writing. Felt not very nice to ask Y2 or Zhilin for money. Well, there goes DC's precious writing. Then thought of buying "Chen Xi" cos it had ZQ's award winning essay in it - no money also. I felt really poor and pathetic can?!

Met Keng, ZQ & Big Lynn halfway (I'm Small Lynn - we have this Big and Small Lynn thing among the A04 peeps cos there's another Lynn in my class who's like alot taller than me! Haha so cute) but we didn't do much together. Just hung around and eventually made our way to the canteen for a little bite. Argh! Everything on sale in the canteen was like 2 times more expensive cos it was a fund-raising fair. Chicken cutlet (which we all shared) was five bucks *gag*. I thought Keng slimmed down again. Man, I wonder if it's 57 kg now? If he looked like that in JC days, he might have got a babe or two :p

Left shortly after... to meet HJ in town - 2nd attempt at catching Charlie's Angels. He said he was gonna be late so I went ahead to Cineleisure first to get the tickets. When I got to the box office.... eh?? Charlie's Angels not showing?!? But I know very well they were having a 4.20 show at Cineleisure!!!! So I went to the girl behind the counter and she told me that Charlie's Angels is not showing at 4.20 - there was a printing error in the newspaper. I fumed!!!!!

Called HJ and nearly screamed into the phone. He said there was another 4.30 one showing at Golden Village Marina Square. So - we met and walked to Somerset MRT with Y2 and CL, who were going to Boon Lay for City Harvest. Took train to City Hall, walked all the way to Marina Sq box office, got nervous when we saw the words "Selling Fast" on the screen. ARGHHH!!!!!!! "We've only got first row seats" was what the guy at the counter told us. I gave HJ that look and he got the pic. No way am I gonna watch a movie from the first row.

SO WE MISSED CHARLIE'S ANGELS - AGAIN.

Made a pact to go catch it "tomorrow morning" (ie: Sunday), which means I have to pon church. We have to watch this one together, by hook or by crook. Simply because we watched the first one together too. Ha Ha. Silly right?

No angels - so we hung out at Mac's instead. Tried the McShaker Fries (Does it always have to be Mc-Something all the time???) and thought that it was pretty okay. Shared a medium iced tea. Usual gossip and stuff. Later went Suntec to find a pair of shoes he had his eyes on. Too bad he couldn't find them *shrugs* so we went to Swiss Culture to chill and have cappuccino and of course, to check out my Ixus V-III. Bumped into Xiangru with her mom and brother. Talked for a few mins - she's still as nice and sweet as ever. Feel happy for her that she is going to University of Hawaii. That is how happening. I wish I were in Hawaii too. Took the chance to take 2 pics with her and HJ - with my V-III of course.

That is why I am dying to learn how to upload pics!!!!!!

Had dinner at Jack's Place Bras Basah. Almost puked at the thought of having dinner after a cup of Rocky Road cappuccino. Forced some beef kway teow down the throat and felt terribly uncomfy after that. Had half a mind to go home immediately to puke everything out. Luckily I haven't done that yet. Funny feeling still lingers.

Geez... it's 2.08 am already and I haven't wrote KQ's birthday letter. I am meeting him later in the evening for a movie... shucks I feel like I am going out on a first date. But it isn't too far from a first date either - I am going out for the first time with him... in 9 years.

Be calm.

When will I see you again?
When will we share precious moments?

I am a cool 12 years old Jealous???
My Inner Age

brought to you by Quizilla

Sigh. And I thought I only look 12.

Spent much of the day (yesterday) at Dad's. First time I'm seeing him since I came back on 28th June. Felt quite bad cos he was half lamenting about me not contacting him earlier. Was quite sad that I couldn't stay for dinner, cos Uncle JM had a little birthday dinner at Triple 3, and I will so die a horrible death if I skipped that. Sheesh. Second time in a week that I've visited that place (Triple 3), and the buffet food was still the same (I last went there on Sunday - bLaH). Argh. And I thought I could taste something different this time round.

Btw, I can't believe I'm going back to Mellyland so soon - like, in 7 days. Sniff. Time is never enough for me when I'm back home. Sorry to all who haven't been able to meet me much - previous weeks have been hectic and my last week's gonna be pretty packed with last minute shopping and all that so I can't meet for meals and catchups. Popular Bookstore is a must visit - Australian stationery kills me.

Anyway yesterday afternoon Uncle JM took me to Sim Lim and together we got the Canon Ixus V-III digicam. Wah it was sooooo ex I nearly died. 625 including that extra disk of memory which totalled up to 128 mb... which means I can take about a hundred pics! Hmm but seriously I was wondering if I needed to take a hundred pics at one go? I have yet to take it out and experiment... will bring it out when I meet HJ for Charlie's Angels tomorrow. Even he is excited for me. Haha. The Angels have been out since forever but I haven't caught them yet. I am waiting to see how hot Demi is gonna look.

Had vegetarian beehoon for lunch with Uncle JM before heading to Sim Lim. Reminded me soooooo much of H - how we used to lurrrrve it and crave for it in the mornings... all the time. Familiar vegetarian taste... made me kinda sad that its no more H and alot less vegetarian beehoon for me in future. Anyway, while having lunch, this 30-something year old woman carrying a child and a cigarette (o.O?) came up to us and asked if we had a car. (???) Uncle JM asked "why?" and she said she needed a lift to Hougang (note that we were somewhere near Sim Lim) because her kid did not have the keys to enter the house - so she had to rush back to open the door for her kid (she didn't say He or She). We were getting abit "huh???" at her request so Uncle JM said "mei you kong la" (as in "not free to give you a lift"). Then she asked if we could give her a 10 for her to take a cab (??!!). When I gave her hesitant looks she kinda got the pic and said "bu yao jin... bu yao jin hor..." and started walking away from us. She added "bu yao sheng qi hor!!" (as in "don't be angry ok?") haha. Hilarious woman. Child in one hand, cigarette in another. Ten bucks? Yeah right - Quit smoking first.

Back to dinner at Triple 3. Food was quite alright... could have been better if it wasn't repeated. Okay, blame me for going there twice in a week? The dessert was pretty good though... but I made a fool of myself when I mistook a rambutan for a lychee. Guess this is what happens when I don't see or eat them for a long time. Seriously, it's been really really long since I last ate a rambutan or peeled a lychee to see what the inside looks like.

Live band of a trio kept us entertained - 2 guitars and a double bass. They came to our table to ask for song request. I thought for awhile and decided that "Blue Bayou" would be a very good song to make use of these 3 instruments. Not knowing that they were that good, I asked one of them politely, "Is Blue Bayou okay?" He replied with a nodding smile. After the "1, 2, 3, 4" the double bass started plucking the bass notes for the intro and boy, was I blown away! It rocked totally! I felt like I was strolling by the beach with the wind can?! Geeez... they were sooooo good they could play anything you requested for. The next table requested Speedy Gonzales and they had to do the "La... la la la la la la la la...." thing in high pitch.... funny. Next next table requested "Sorry seems to be the hardest word". (Love the Blue & Elton version!!! Piggy!! :p)

It's fab, so fab... it's a fab fab situation....
Oh man. That is how lame of me. Okay, back to seriousness....

What do I do when lightning strikes me
And I wake to find that you're not there?

Blue featuring Elton John - Sorry seems to be the hardest word

PS: Today is my ex-roommate Charlene's birthday. I do think of the old times now and then. But then again I believe she is indeed better off without me.

asshole
your asshole.

What swear word are you?
brought to you by Quizilla

Heh. Same as Gerry's =)

Yesterday was the day I heard the lousiest version of "wu ding" sung by a human being. Ever.

It was time to celebrate HJ's long belated 20th birthday, and he had a craving to go sing. Fine with me - I was itching to sing anyway, especially after paying my first visit to The Ark last night :p He asked 2 NY pals along, and also a bunkmate (Name's Wilfred - and no, his surname isn't Owen. Omg it's sooooo lame!!!!! Haha!). So the 5 of us were at this place called Sunlight, somewhere near Centrepoint (weird name for a Karaoke lounge you telling me?) blah. Initially was quite excited to meet HJ's bunkmate cos according to him, his bunkmate likes to sing Andy Lau songs *swooooon*. Andy Lau?!? He's like the most handsome man on earth!!!!! (well, if you minus the ang mohs... he probably is) Haha I don't see the connection between his liking for Andy Lau songs and Andy Lau being the most handsome (Chinese) man on earth. But never mind. I was excited. I really was.

WAS excited - I emphasize.

Ok, so his Andy Lau numbers weren't that impressive after all. Tsk. Then he killed me with "wu ding". It was like.... #$%#&$$%^&#@.... I don't wish to describe it. Like, c'mon man, if you aren't familiar with the song, don't request for it. And don't sing it. Aarrgghh! People who go to KTVs and dunno how to do basic things like pitching really kill me. On a lighter note, I've changed my impression of HJ's NY pals. They seemed to have upgraded from "ah lian" status after more than a year. Wahahhaa.

Torture (karaoke) camp over at about 4pm. Went down to Taka after that for Mos... just to chill out. Was craving for Tsukune burger (again - I never change do I?) but decided against it cos we had dinner appointment later with Yang Wei and Shuhui and I didn't wanna spoil my dinner. Shared a bag of large fries with HJ instead. Shortly after, HJ had to leave to meet someone *aHeMzzZ* and dumped me aside to rot at, of all places, the Taka post office... for an hour. (Don't worry brother, I still love you!!!) Weird gal, you must be thinking. Well, I thought I could use some time to write my postcards... promised Fai and P that I'd send some scenery over :p Also sent out the bunnies and card that I bought for Huey - to wish (them) Happy Anniversary. Can you beat that?? It's been four years and they're still going strong.

Reached Wheelock at about 6.30pm after spending half an hour at Kinokuniya. The selections of books rock!!!! I was so tempted to purchase the entire Ji Mi collection. For those who don't read Chinese fiction, Ji Mi is this super author/artist from Taiwan who wrote the "Turn Left Turn Right" picture book.

Anyway, not a single soul in sight at Wheelock. Decided that I'd go upstairs to make a reservation at Big O first. Anyone tried Big O yet? I think it's pretty alright but I don't feel very much spoilt for choice. I still prefer NYDC. Their mudpies are the best. After the reservation, I went back to Borders to browse. Checked out the book that Z is eyeing - Blackwood Farm by Anne Rice. Not on the shelves. Not even listed as "available" on the computers. bLah. Tried to kill time by checking out Harry Potter (Order of the Phoenix) instead. As in comparing prices - is the 20% off at Borders gonna end up being the same price as the 20% off at Kino? I haven't decided which version I wanna get - Black or Yellow?

Shuhui arrived first. Talked for awhile. Haven't seen him since 2000 - the day we got our Os. It's been like, 3 years??? Said I look "youthful", though I wasn't sure what that was supposed to mean. Shuhui is forever talking in 2 meanings. Btw he got into NUS Medicine. Wow wow. Things in the Lu family are finally undergoing major changes. Wahahhahaa. So mean. But it's true you know. The entire Lu family is in the teaching line. It's high time for a different profession to emerge.

Had quite an OK dinner at Big O. The beef burger was pretty filling. Ugh. But we endured another mudpie called Frankenstein Part II (4 of us shared, of course). Quite a cool name huh? Anyway it was really nice having meet-ups with old friends from DHS. Brings back alot of nice memories. I died when we recalled Shuhui's 1996 birthday celebration at TM. It was sooooo funny!! :p

Eventually HJ said he had to leave cos he had to book in at about 11. Offered taking me home in a cab since he lives only like 3 km away from me. Yay!!! But just as we were deciding where to get the cab from, it started raining. And I mean... POURING!!! Cats and dogs! Lions and tigers!! At that moment everyone suddenly decided to take cabs or something, so we were unlucky in getting a street job. Tried calling a cab but both Comfort and CityCab lines were engaged!!! Arrghh! HJ got abit anxious cos it was already 9.50pm and still no cab how to book in?!? Almost gave up calling cabs but ultimately called Z for help - to use home phone to call for cab on our behalf cos we were really sick and tired of redialling over and over again. After what seemed like hours, Z got thru and then our cab came. Stopped at HJ's place, then mine. Fare was $10.90 brother. You gave me 10 and I paid like 90 cents... I feel so bad. Charlie's Angels this Sat is on me ya? =)

What to say what to say what to say?

Arranged to meet KQ (my long time Primary school crush) this Sun, after about nine years of knowing each other but never getting down to talking face to face... It's a really weird friendship in a way, but I love the way things are. Can't help feeling a tad bit nervous. What do you expect me to say to a person whose only communication with me over the past 6 years was only through hand written letters and recently, (thanks to technology) SMS? (Yes - some guys do write letters, much to my amazement). It all started out with yesterday being KQ's 20th birthday... and because HJ had to heartlessly leave me aside for 2 hours to meet *aHeMmZzZ*, I was totally bored and thought of asking KQ out for that 2 hours to.... I dunno... celebrate his birthday? After all he had a Birthday Off, like all NS guys do. So after I sent that "invitation msg", he replied asking if I could make it at 8 or so (I reckoned that it was easier for him to go back to camp? But it was quite Out of Point anyway cos I asked him to meet at 4??? Never mind.) but I couldn't, cos having dinner with 2B and company remember? So eventually he suggested Sunday and I said Okay.... There.

Hmm. I guess the soft spot is here to stay for good.

We don't talk much anymore
We keep running from the pain
But what I wouldn't give
To see your face again?

Savage Garden - I don't know you anymore

I am heroic couplets; most precise
And fond of order. Planned and structured. Nice.
I know, of course, just what I want; I know,
As well, what I will do to make it so.
This doesn't mean that I attempt to shun
Excitement, entertainment, pleasure, fun;
But they must keep their place, like all the rest;
They might be good, but ordered life is best.

Crow
What Is Your Animal Personality?

brought to you by Quizilla

A crow, of all animals? Hope it doesn't spell too much bad luck :p

Oh. Anyway, back to Miss Elva. Actually, all the reports on her concert have already been published in the papers over the weekend - guess there isn't much for me to say now... In short, I enjoyed her showmanship pretty much - a very confident and very "I know what I am doing" kinda girl =) Did some remix of Nelly & Kelly's "Dilemma" and Madonna's "Music", which sounded quite okay. Before Piggy winces at the thought of a Taiwanese singer doing Madonna, I'd first like to announce that Elva studied in Canada for a good couple of years so her command of English is pretty good :p Special guests Stanley from the now-defunct pop group "LA BOYZ" (bLah... so I should set up "Singapore Gurls"??) and Jiang Meiqi, who had super good crystal clear vocals, as opposed to Elva's mellow Alto =) Very refreshing indeed.

One thing about the concert though, was that it was distracting at times. Hee. The organisers put up 2 very large screens on both sides of the stage, firstly for the benefit of those seated way behind, as well as to screen the 'live' sms that came from the audience. Those who wanted their msgs shown onscreen were to type their msg and send it to *blah blah number* and it would appear shortly after... like 10 mins later. And I believe that many of us were pretty much distracted by the words that were slowly running across the screen, while Elva sang and danced.... There were some really dumb msgs though.... (imagine doing marriage proposals at Elva's concert??!!)

It feels good to know that I'm being missed back in Mellyland. Hee. Well, at least by P and Fai, hopefully. P's been offering to give me wake up calls lately, and that's really sweet of her. Spending money on a calling card just for me. Thanks so much girl, appreciate that very much =) Tell me more about your Podium session!!

K. Lo told me he failed his exam *shrug* I didn't dare ask how many subjects he did not (or did? :p) manage to clear... he seems pretty alright though. Perhaps two times of sitting for the A-Levels has made him a better man. Well, better at accepting such setbacks, I mean. Ooooo!!!!! :p On the other side of the scale, his younger sis is in NUS Law and made it to the Dean's List for her final years. Talk about extreme opposites :p (I am desperately trying to recall if any of K. Lo's buddies might be reading this now. If they go tell him what's been on my blog, I'm dead. But wait a minute.... what buddies? *evil laugh*)

Meeting the Slackers later this evening for a night out. Haven't seen them in ages. Can't wait.

And I can't believe I caught Dumb & Dumberer with Ron. The angels were sold out so we had to settle for our.... uh... next best alternative. Which sucked. bLah. Don't watch that movie guys. NO NO NO. It was totally strange how it had Air Supply's "Making Love out of nothing at all" in its OST?!?!

When you're a fool in love
You'd be a fool till the day you die.

Randy Newman - A Fool in Love

"A Fool in Love" is from "Meet The Parents". This, on the other hand, is one of the best comedies I've seen. Ben Stiller was just pathetically hilarious.

You're of the "I hate school"
breed!

You just hate going to school
and can't stand waking up every day just for
school. But no choice, you just force your way
through school and when the time comes, you
leave the country for other, better education
systems. Bah, at least you have the resources
to do so, you rich/smart bugger!!

Which Stereotypical Singaporean Student Are You?
brought to you by Quizilla

Wahahahaha. Surprise surprise! How true quizilla is, for once :p

Elva - You make me wanna.

Went for Elva's gig at Suntec Convention Hall just now with mm. Boy, both of us melted the moment she appeared onstage... partly because it took us forever to get there, I tell you... and we were kinda dying to see her by 8.45pm. We were caught in a jam from Orchard till Suntec, firstly. Then there came a point in time when a car rammed into the bus we were on, and the driver had to get off and "settle" stuff. You know, the usual procedures. We reached Suntec half dead at about half past 8. To our relief, concert hasnt started yet. People were still lingering at the entrances. Lights in the hall were still on. *pHeW*

Long, permed curls. Flawless complexion. Powerful vocals. Fluorescent yellow outfit. Nimble footwork & dance steps. That's Elva Hsiao for you. I admit I ain't a hard-core fan of hers (there were many songs she sang which I haven't heard before), but seriously, one of the main reasons I parted with 76 bucks for her gig was to see her dance. And to me & mm & I believe all her fans worldwide, she is one of the prettiest things to look at in the entertainment industry today (I'm ignoring the remarks about her looking like a transvestite. Oh and has anyone seen her Cappuccino music video??!!! Sheesh. I feel like a 15 year old drooling over her crush everytime I watch that!) :p

Elva put up a terrific concert, of course. She had a few costume changes, her music ranging from pop to Rhythm & Blues to Hip Hop... a very good choice of songs I would say. Watching her dance was simply one of the best luxuries in life *grins* I wouldn't mind if the gig went on without the singing :p Oh mannnn.... there the 15 year-old in me goes again...... *swoon*

On the flip side of things, the Singaporean audience is, after so many years, still rather dead. They (uh well, me included... *sheepish*) took about 20 seconds to start getting their butts off the seats to dance with her, when she urged all of us to. By the way, what dance? When she held out the mic to the audience asking us to sing with her, I couldn't hear anything. On the other hand, the Taiwanese and HK fans would have been screaming the song at the top of their lungs already. Sigh. I hope that didn't disappoint her too much.

Bed beckons. Continue when I wake up. Elva rocks.

You are GILL!
What Finding Nemo Character are You?

brought to you by Quizilla

tho i wasnt there at that time,
you know i wished i were
and even as i missed that fold in the fabric of time
of not being there
i have looked on from my heart
and in my mind's eye
and sincerely missed you
as you turned your back and walked on.

no i wasnt there at that time,
but,
please know that i will be there --
when you need a rock to lean on,
a tree stump to sit on,
a sleeve to wipe tears off.

yes i wasnt there at that time,
but i'll always be here.

Thank you Johan for writing me such a heartwarming poem. Almost made me cry... sniff.

Btw I just got my broadband activated. Now I know why it's so hard to get offline now. Hahaha.

I finally found Nemo today. It rocked! Gonna write a blog entry about it the next time. Its too late to do so now :>

Oh and I went back to DHS this afternoon to visit LGX. I kinda missed her classes :p She walked me around the school canteen and hostel. Right, DHS's hostel which holds 500 people. 500 bucks a month with meals and laundry inclusive. Not a bad deal I would say. School compound's changed quite a bit though. Certain canteen stalls different too. And, geez... Peter the caretaker has now been assigned the duty of setting up a big brolly at the main gate to take the temperatures of people entering the school. Don't they get it that SARS is pretty much over in Singapore? Duh.

Was back at NJC the day before to visit my two HCL teachers. Nope, the rest of them weren't worth my visit :p Ok Ok I'm kidding. Similarly, the caretaker Uncle was at the gate with a big umbrella, taking our temperatures. I felt sooooo sorry that he had to sit there and wait for people to come in. Not that people always do, yanno. He must have been feeling so bored... imagine having to do this for months? I caught him flipping through the entire list of names to kill his boredom. Poor thing. Anyway, one of my HCL teachers said that we all (Y2, ZL & me) grew prettier, and ZQ fatter. Wahahahhaa.

Touch me now
I close my eyes
And dream away...

Roxette - It must have been Love (but it's over now)

July 4th 2003. An important day for me to remember, somewhat.

Today is the exact one year anniversary of my first day in Melbourne. Independence Day for me too, huh? The airport farewell still plays in my mind now and then. How absolutely surprised I was to see about sixty people turn up (no kidding!!). How Mao started the first sniffing... and how when ASS put on the necklace for me, our eyes started turning red. How my cell group members (especially those whom I weren't even close friends with) faithfully turned up and sent me off with their prayers. How H decided not to follow the rest to the viewing mall because he didn't want to watch me leave. How my NJC classmates wrote me a little notebook of well wishes and left their addresses, in case I needed to write home. How the Slackers United Club people gave me a book by Ji Mi (he's one of my fav authors) and, how can I ever forget, XH's doraemon comic, which I still read in the toilet now and then :p How ZS's letter made me flood the plane. How mom put on a brave front and managed not to even shed a tear. How some very important people whom I wished were there... weren't. (Jo, if you are reading this....)

Can hardly believe it's been a year, though. A year away from home, away from my family, away from the familiarities that I've never been away from for the past 19 years. No doubt, it was a tough time trying to adapt to a sudden change, but nevertheless it was a life-changing experience. (I recommend all readers of my blog to seek an overseas education if they can). It's when you really grow and learn to make your own decisions. It's when all of a sudden everything falls on your shoulders but you are proud to take on that responsibility. And, most importantly, it's when you are able to get away from the sucky Singapore education system and really get a life out there, yanno? It's been a year, and like I have mentioned in a previous entry, no regrets.

On the other side however, it gets lonely sometimes, especially when I am living alone in a puny little one room apartment. No, not that I yearn for company to live with... on the contrary, I lurrrrve the solitude without anyone to bug me! (Piggy! *wink*) I just feel absolutely pathetic when my meals are a big question mark. What to eat. Who to eat with. Am I even eating in the first place?! And there goes. Potato chips. Cereal. Chocolate. Bedtime at 7am (mm! Piggy! *blink blink*).

Approximately 12 hours to go before I meet Piggy & MM for Prata brunch at the Roti Prata House :p Can hardly wait. I was there just about an hour ago with the cell and I had to watch them eat their prata supper and at the same time, controlling half my side of the brain which went "eat, eat, eat....." Fortunately, the other half won the battle :p (Thought I shouldn't spoil my breakfast tomorrow, heh)

Spent 229 on a pathetic MP3 player just 2 days ago and it's already giving me problems >.< What in the world is an incorrect parameter???!!!
DX promised to take me back to the Sim Lim Shady on Sunday and get a refund. Or else, get an i-river for exchange.
TRY.

Caught The Hulk just now. The scenes showing him jumping about in the air were hilarious! It wasn't that good anyhow. Piggy was right. It's more or less about a huge green thing (in purple briefs) jumping up and down. Eric Bana was just okay, but Jennifer Connelly rocked :p And as usual, for Marvel character movies, there is gonna be a sequel I'm sure. Had Long John's for dinner. Yum. Haven't had that in a looooonnng time.

And after all that's been said and done
You're just a part of me I can't let go.

Chicago - Hard to say I'm sorry

Wow, I haven't blogged for more than 10 days. Well, partly because of the exam period and also because I am now back in Singapore enjoying myself *grin* I guess I do miss home pretty much, despite mum's incessant nagging >.< Apart from the weather *bLah*, everything (food, family, friends and fun) is a-okay.

Met up with my NJC class of 00A04 just 3 days ago, on Sunday. It was funny how we had lunch at this cafe called "Sakura", which served Thai and Indonesian food O.o? (Isn't Sakura supposed to mean "cherry blossom" in Jap?) Anyway, some people have changed and some haven't. KC has lost about 53 (No, not 5.3 but 53. fifty three) kilograms. And mind you, that's like 7 kg heavier than what I am now. (Did I just reveal my weight to everyone on the net??!!??) *hhhhhhh*!!!!! I died when I saw how different he looked. Char commented that maybe he met a babe and is desperately trying to lose weight to get her *grins* Oh well, but no matter what it was a great effort, really. I can't even get a diet plan going! KC ought to get a page one on Life! sometime. Heh.

I have a 1001 movies to catch. Nemo (whom I have yet to find). Charlie's Angels. Incredible Hulk (which sucked, according to Piggy. Sigh). Bruce Almighty (which is probably ending its screen soon). And Terminator THREEEEEEE!!!!! (Wait. Was it "I'll be back" or "Hasta La Vista Baby"? :p See. I was never a fan of Arnold. And yes I refuse to attempt spelling his last name)

What have I been eating recently? Hmm.. lemme see. I had Mos Burger twice. Chicken Rice. Some fave dishes like tofu and curry. I'm not even half done with the list yet!!! Wahahahaha. Geez... as usual, its time to add on the kilos :p Meeting Piggy & mm for prata *DrOoL* on Friday morning ^_^

I've been to paradise
But I've never been to me.
