In case you're surprised to see a post like this, I completely understand. (Although I've since announced online, so I doubt anyone is surprised) We've been telling people for the past four years that we were completely done, because, well, we were. Shortly before Mike left for his deployment in January all of my joking with him about having another seemed to soften his stance and before he left he said that maybe we could have another. This made me think if I really wanted another one. It had been over four years since Erik was born, and over seven years since I'd had an infant. I was 37, which means I'd be 38 when the baby was born, which means I'd be 56 when it graduates from high school. That's pretty old. (My apologies to anyone that might read this that doesn't consider 38 and a baby old.) We decided we were in fact ready to have another one and I made preparations while he was still deployed. He got back the first of February and age hasn't seemed to dull our fertility.
I found out I was pregnant almost by chance. I had a bunch of pregnancy test strips I'd bought from Amazon and used occasionally. I apparently wasn't letting them sit for long enough, because I realized a few had a faint line after they'd been thrown away. I made an appointment to see my Dr AND...negative. They had me come back for a blood test and it was positive. They did an ultrasound and we got our first look at our tiny speck. I was barely six weeks along. My due date was set for October 31st. A fitting date, since we like Halloween so much. (Not that I have a chance of delivering on Halloween. My babies always like to come early.)

In April I got two ultrasounds. The first one was on the 11th. Mike and I had gone to the temple to do sealings. I found out that kneeling has the same effect as locking legs. Who knew?! After we left the temple I had some light spotting and since I was in my first trimester, I feared the worst. I went to the Dr and thankfully our little alien was doing great. Spotting is normal, but my anxiety level is obviously a little high.
On the 27th I got another ultrasound because Mike was with me. Our little one looked as healthy as ever.
Normally people have to wait until their 18-20 week ultrasound to find out the sex of their baby. Since I'm old, and high risk, I got a test done where they draw my blood and are able to separate the babies DNA. They can test it for numerous potential issues and also test the sex of the baby. We found out when I was about 12/13 weeks along that IT'S A GIRL! We would have been happy with a boy or girl, but were ecstatic to know we're getting a little Audrey. (She's been named for years by Sarah) I had created a Pinterest board for a boy or girl nursery, so as soon as we found out, we started decorating with pink. :)
On June 7th I had my 20 week ultrasound. We already knew it was a girl, but it was a lot of fun to see her.
We had another ultrasound on July 3rd. My body likes to have contractions and Dr Colby was worried about cervical length. (Sorry if this is TMI) Everything looked fine.
Now we just wait. :) It's August 28th as I finally finish this up which means I have about 7 weeks if I go as long as I'd like to. I have five more weeks of Progesterone shots, and I think they're working. We're hoping she's born on the 14th, Mike's birthday, or the 19th, our first time hanging out outside of work. No matter when she comes we're all excite to meet her.
