I succeeded in talking Lynette into running a 5k and we chose Memorial Day so Mike could join us. All of my kids agreed to run with us, but had varying degrees of enthusiasm. Steven took off at the beginning and then crashed a bit. He still finished with a respectable 35 min for a pace of 11:34. I think it's his slowest 5k, but he did it. Lynette and I stayed together the whole time and she finished in 43:28, which was below her goal. Sarah was with her at the beginning, and then her friend called so she wussed out a bit and finished in 44:57. ;) Adam started with Steven, but got frustrated when Steven sped up. He fell back, but was in a bit of a funk. Mike chose to stay with him and they finished in 51:39. There was a lot of moaning and groaning, but if I'd only posted the pictures no one would have known the reality of the day. Lynette did fabulous and I'm going to talk her into making it a tradition. (She may not know that yet)

Matching my Mother in Law
I've heard it said that men want to marry women like their mother. I have a wonderful mother in law and although our personalities are quite different, I apparently have her taste in clothing. The first time was when Mike graduated from officer training. My luggage was lost and all I had to wear was my travel outfit, which matched Lynette. Awesome. You can read about that coolness HERE.

Steven's Spring Lacrosse season and color run
Steven had another good season of Lacrosse. It's been fun to see him progress in a sport he enjoys.

Shack in the back
The boys took our left over Murphy bed supplies and made a shack in the backyard. It wasn't structurally sound, but they had a lot of fun building it and painting it. The neighbor kids helped and brought supplies. Steven slept in it the first night and we left it up for a few days before demolishing it. (For safety purposes)

Zion Ragnar, Family Edition
Another year, another Zion Ragnar. My team keeps saying each year that it will be our last, but we really enjoy the weekend. As a family, we decided to explore a couple new places. The first was the "Belly of the Dragon". It was more of a drive and short walk, rather than a hike, but it was a cool one to mark off the southern Utah bucket list.

Zion Ragnar, Team Edition
Sometimes I wonder why I enjoy this race so much. It's hot, challenging, and exhausting. Still, it's a great opportunity to spend time with some ladies I love. I felt prepared physically, but I kept having issues in the piriformis and hip flexor. (I'm writing this in September and now know I have Hip Dysplasia and some SI issues. No running at the moment) I feel like I did well, but not killer. We had someone drop out last minute and couldn't find a replacement, so we had to add a guy to the team. Jerom is a fantastic runner, and great addition, but it meant we wouldn't be able to place. (We would have taken second or third) Still, great time and if they all decide to do it again, I'll be game.

Rolling with the punches (My black eye)
Audrey and I were at her gymnastics class and it was a Cinco de Mayo theme. It was all fun and games until she was supposed to do a front roll, and instead she shot up as fast and hard as she could...right into my eye. It hurt. I teared up a bit. I tried to stay in class for a little while, but decided I should put some ice on it. It took a while before it started to fade.
Sarah and I like to have sympathy headaches and pains for each other, so it was only fitting that she'd have super dark circles under her eyes from being tired. ;)
