Jalna setup a portrait session with her coworker at Kapiolani Park. Celia, Hiromi and myself tagged along to help with the flector and do a little shooting too. Hiromi was nice enough to be a model too, so we had her stand on the bench below the yellow flower trees.

Sunset and moon rise from Kaimuki

Our photo club had a full moon shoot from a small park in Kaimuki.  For some reason whenever I go to an organized full moon shoot the weather is always bad.  It was very cloudy, it was raining all around us, the moon kept popped in and out of the clouds, it was not a good way to shoot the moon.  I posted the few acceptable shots, the sunset, the intersection of Waialae and Diamondhead, fuzzy moon and the city lights.

Valley of the Temples in HDR 2010

Every time I go the the Valley of the Temples my shots always come out the same.  For better or for worse this time I was determined to get different shots.  I used the widest lens I have, stood in corners, next to walls, behind trees, behind hedges and set my camera to vivid and shot all HDR. I like the rich colors and funky angles. Next time I'll try upside down, the camera that is, not me.

Pan-Pacific Festival Parade in Waikiki 2010

The final event of the Pan-Pacific Festival is a parade in Waikiki. Henry was back in town and joined us at the parade, it was nice to see him again. My D300 is still out of commission, its been at Nikon USA for three weeks waiting for parts. How long does it take to walk to and from the parts department, it must be far away. I shot the parade with my D90 and D40. The D90 works well, the D40 not so well. Anyway it was a great parade, we had a ton of fun!

Pan-Pacific Festival 2010 Ala Moana Center stage

It is that time of the year again, time for the Pan-Pacific Festival. Too bad no photo contest again. It is always fun to watch all the different groups, its free so you can't really complain. I must say the hula dancers have improved. For the first time they had a Japanese jazz band and they had two female sax players. Would you believe they were the best act? The guitar player and drummer are professionals and played with some well known jazz artist. There were awesome!
