Shoot with Heather

Heather was looking for shots for her portfolio.  We did some graffiti shots at Green Hands of Aloha and beach shots at Sand Island.  The graffiti shots turned out well.  The sun was a too little to high to get those golden sun rays shots.  Hopefully we can get a nice sunset the next time.

Smooth Jazz with Michael Paulo featuring Norm Brown, Gail Johnson

Another amazing jazz concert by Michael Paulo featuring Norm Brown and Gail Johnson.  Michael's been bringing in great jazz artist every three to four months.  Norm and Gail were no exception.  Gail started by rocking on the keyboard and jamming with Michael.  After the break Norm raised the level with his masterful guitar playing.  Norm also has a great sense of humor, he had the place rolling between songs.  

Pacific Ink and Art Expo 2013 Bikini Contest

I was asked to shoot the bikini contest at this year's Pacific Ink and Art Expo at NBC.  When I got to the vendor entrance my name wasn't on the media list. I guess since I had a camera bag on each shoulder and a 13' light stand they figured I was a photographer and penciled me in and gave me a  media pass, all without showing any ID.

Last year I used my external Nikon flash, which wasn't really powerful enough shooting from the back. So this year I brought my 640 watt Einstein.  No problem overpowering the yellow overhead lights.

Palolo Hongwanji Bon Dance 2013

We were at the Palolo Hongwanji this past Saturday trying low light photography again. This place is really dark with 5 or 6 spot light and no lite lanterns.  There is only one small spot with decent light.  We spent a lot of time there.  This bon dance has constant stream of people walking every which way, so if people got in my way I told their picture.  Some of them turned out very good.  

It was a humid sticky night so we thought shave ice would be perfect.  We weren't the only people who wanted shave ice, most of the night the line was very long.  Best shave ice of all the bon dances.  I haven't tried many but it was very good.  Ice was extremely fine and syrup was very ono.
