Chinese New Year's Parade 2011

According to the Chinese calendar this is the year the Wabbit, as Elmer would say. This year's parade was much longer than last year. It started exactly at 3:30 and ended about 4:45. There were many more Lion Dancing groups and a few new ethnic groups. Great parade!

Off Camera Flash with Hiromi and Maile

Still practicing with my remote trigger and umbrella. Hiromi and her dog Maile agreed to be models, actually Maile didn't have any say so. Manually adjusting the flash is starting to be a real problem, especially when the flash is high in the air.  I am considering getting the new Pocket Wizards.  You can adjust the flash settings from the camera.

Al Waterson Celebrates 10 Years at Don Ho's Island Grill

Al Waterson and Nancy Bernal celebrated 10 years of singing contests at Don Ho's Island Grill. They invited previous winners, professionals and non-professional singers for an open mike session. It was a great event, like one big happy family. Everyone knew each other and they all had a great time.

When it was time for dinner I asked the waiter what was good, he said his favorite was chopped steak. This didn't sound exciting, but I went with his recommendation. It came on a hot sizzling platter and smelled fantastic. It didn't taste like your normal chopped steak, there was something extra in it, not sure what it was. The waiter said it was some kind of magic Chinese seasoning. It was the best thing I've had in a long time. A big Mahalo to the waiter!
