Happy Halloween!

What a busy day! We were able to work in a birthday party, school festival, two baseball games and a night of trick or treating! Really glad we get an extra hour!!

Levi was nice enough to let Lane ride the "train ride" with him. Lane didn't know what to think at first but was all smiles once they took off!

Happy Scarecrow Day!

The boys and I joined Grammy and headed to TX to see sis and family. Today is a special day for the 1st graders around here - it's scarecrow day! Of course, the cutest one is my nephew Jake! We spent last night getting the costume ready for today and I think it turned out great! Here's our scarecrow at school this morning!

Fall Fun

I'm getting behind on all of the fun things happening in the Compton family! A couple of weeks ago we had our Sunday School fellowship at our house. The families came out for an afternoon of cotton picking, smore making and hayriding! Here is Levi showing off in the field.

Growing up around the cotton fields I take for granted that there are so many who have never seen cotton grow or who have been able to pick it for themselves. I think they always enjoy getting a little dirty to do some hunting for the perfect cotton!

Here's a few of the families on the hayride. It was pretty cool that day - glad we did it before dark!

Sounds like we are going to have more cotton pickin' fun soon! Stay tuned!

Laney Days

I caught Lane in action last week getting into his diapers and burp cloths! He is into everything these days now that he walks everywhere!

Lane also had his first playdate with good friend Ellie. They didn't quite know how to take each other. They would never stop to take a rest, but were so good just playing and snacking! (What Lane does best!)

Medals and Badges

On a lighter note, I'm very proud of the men in my life! Doug was speaking at a youth event in Louisiana and came across a 5K that he was able to run. He medaled in the event, coming in 3rd in his division!!!

Levi has completed the first section in his Awana Cubbies Book and received the badges for his vest last week. He was pretty excited and the little Cubbies had such precious faces when they got them.

I love you guys! Thanks for making me the proudest wife/momma in the world!!

A New Heart

Shortly after MeMaw passed away I did my best to explain it to Levi. He did very well knowing that her body was still here, but her spirit "heart" went to be with God. After things had settled down he brought me this bendaroo (thanks, Doug, for the new 120 piece set!) and asked if I would make a new heart for MeMaw. I did my best and he placed it on the wall. I have a feeling it will stay there a while. What a precious memory at such a hard time!

Alice Louise Miles

March 5, 1922 - October 8, 2009

It's with sad, yet rejoicing hearts, that we laid to rest my grandmother, "MeMaw", on Sunday, October 11, 2009. (Doug had the honor of performing a portion of her service and did a wonderful job.) She had been in the hospital for a few days before she went to be with her Saviour and the husband she had longed to be with for over 15 years. She was buried on their anniversary - so appropriate!

The memories of MeMaw will live forever. I could recount so many stories, but I don't think blogger could post so much information!! Here are a few precious pictures we have of her last years with us.

We will miss her dearly, but celebrate the life she lived and the legacy she leaves behind. She was truly a Proverbs 31 woman!

Lane is on the move now - by foot! He's not so sure of his steps but keeps smiling and trying! We are so proud of him!

Here She Is!

The last week in September we spent with Doug's family in Bismarck. Our niece, Jessica, had a BIG weekend! She was on the homecoming court and was turning 16! The boys and I headed up first to go to the big pep rally and game! Here she is before the big event! Doesn't she look beautiful!! ( I can't believe she is so grown up! Wasn't is just yesterday that she was a flower girl in our wedding!)

At the ceremonies before the game, the fathers walk their daughters on the field. Brought back memories of my Senior year when dad walked both Sis and I on the field!

And no homecoming dress would be complete without the tennis shoes! Don't blame her - she was in her dress and shoes all day!!

We are so proud of you Jessica! You are very special to us!!

O-U-A-C-H-I-T-A!

After the party most of us headed to the football game - by the way the Tigers won! It was a lot of fun seeing our kids at our alma mater showing their spirit.

Lane and Levi are both wonderful with mascots these days. Seem like we have encountered quite a few of them this fall. Lane loved feeling of this tiger cheerleader!

One of the highlights of the weekend was getting to see a college roommate and one of our best friends! Sadie's husband is now teaching at OBU and she brought the kids along to celebrate with us! Here is Sadie, Sis and I with all the kiddos!


Thanks to all who came to help us celebrate Lane's first birthday! He is so blessed, as are we, to have such a wonderful family and great friends!

After the cake, we had to take off Lane's shirt due to the disaster we had on our hands. You can see the purple tint on his face and in his hair. He decided to rub his plate on his head!

Happy Birthday to You!

Lane's birthday party was at Ouachita. We had a tailgate event before the football game with familiy and friends. It worked out great being a central place for my family to meet and Doug's family being there!

Lane is all smiles before the big party. Poor thing didn't know what was to come. He was a bit tired but was such a trooper during it all!

Levi volunteered his services to help Lane blow out his candle. I suppose it is a very important big brother duty!

Lane didn't know quite what to do with his cupcake. It didn't take long though before we had purple icing all over us!!
