Farewell to Arms

Today we had a nice visit with Doug's folks and our nephew, Jared, coming up to visit. Doug's mom is a literature lover, so we headed to Piggott, AR to visit the Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum.

Hemingway lived in this home while writing Farewell to Arms. When the movie of the book premiered in theaters, they had it in two locations - including Piggott!

This was the Pfeiffer home. (Brother to Hemingway's wife) They actually filmed part of the movie A Face in the Crowd here - one of Andy Griffith's first films. My aunt actually made an appearance it in the movie!

Levi sure does love hanging out with Jared! We were glad he joined us!

EAT MOR CHIKIN!

There's a first time for everything and last month we made a trip to our favorite chicken restaurant for some free food! Of course, that wasn't our first time there, but the first time to visit when the free food was for those who dressed up like cows! Levi and I had been there earlier in the week when they were passing out costume ideas and he REALLY wanted to dress up and go back later that week for a free kids meal. So, the adventure was on and we made a cow-like costume for him. And then Lane thought he needed one, too! Here are some of the cute photos of the day.

Levi was quite concerned that I didn't dress up, too! I told him that I was ok with buying my meal that day! We had a good time!

Where, Oh, Where Have We Been?

Well, I can't believe the summer is half over! Wasn't it just the end of school and now we are getting ready for it to begin again?!? June was a very busy month for the Comptons! We started out traveling to Panama City Beach where Doug was the camp pastor for a wonderful group from Oxford, AL! From there he was at another camp, Journey 414, at Ouachita and then returned home with the worship band and they spoke/led worship at our home church that weekend! It was a wonderful time getting to know the band (they ALL stayed at our home!) and then it was busy preparing for our trip overseas! Doug and I traveled to Indonesia to work with some Americans there. It was an incredible trip, but we were gone for two weeks! We missed the boys so much, but knew they were in good hands with Grammy and Pa - my parents. Last week I struggled with jet lag at home with the boys while Doug was at Siloam doing the same! He is at Lonsdale this week and I'm still trying to get things put up and get semi back to normal! Next week is our VBS and then we head to Texas for Alden's birthday festivities. Then comes cousin camp and before you know it - August! YIKES! I will try to download some of the pictures from last month and share them with you. But before I go, a very special HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my mom!! We love you, Grammy!
