Good Things Come To Those Who Wait

Well....Finally....I have been granted level 12 clearance by Pooh to let the cat out of the bag.  SHE'S PREGNANT!!!!!  Yes, you read correctly!  6 Years and tens of thousands of dollars later, we have landed on the moon!  Well, not really, but you know what I mean.  It has been a crazy journey that has brought us so many blessings over the years; specifically The Lou.  Blessings and heartache.  That is the very shortened story of our last 8 years.  Blessings and heartache.  Nobody can know the emotional roller coaster infertility can be except for those that have experienced it.  Those that have, know what I mean.  It has been tough.  It has been rough.  It has been a trial I would rather not experience again, but one that I am grateful for and I am a stronger person for having experienced it.

The first ultra sound at 7 weeks.
Pooh and I are soooo grateful for all we have been given.  We are always so careful to remain positive and thankful for the gifts God has granted us.  We have been vigilant and mostly successful at warding off negative energy and pessimism.  The thoughts, prayers and kind words of those around us have helped buoy us throughout the entire experience.  For that, we love you all.  Not just the two readers of this blog, but both of our families, our friends, co-workers, neighbors, church family and even strangers who had also had similar experiences and went out of their way to let us know we weren't alone and that all would be well.  Mostly, we thank a loving Heavenly Father.

The Good Dr.
After an unsuccessful, but fun trip to Europe. We met with a Dr. in Provo at the recommendation of a trustworthy friend.  They had some success with this Dr. so we gave it a shot.  Upon meeting with this Dr. and his staff for a consultation, we immediately knew he was more capable and knowledgeable to help us than any previous specialist.  Long story short, and leaving out details I am sure Pooh would rather I omit, we have a baby!

Sarah on the day of her first ultra sound to learn the good news.
I have always been an open book.  It is both a blessing and a curse that I can speak so openly about who I am, what I have done and how I view things.  Mostly a blessing to me and those that are entertained by my blathering, but a curse to my more private and quiet better half.  I don't fault her at all for politely asking me to keep my big yapper shut about the whole thing until she reached a point wherein she would feel more comfortable and confident that all is well and progressing as it should be.  It became a thing of comedy to us as each week she would tell one or two people and I would ask to tell someone to make it fair.  The joke between us was, that by the time we decided to make it public knowledge, there wouldn't be anyone left.  We laughed at the thought of all of our friends walking around thinking that they, and only they, knew a little secret about our happy news.

The 10 week ultra sound

She is in her eleventh week and her due date is November 29th.  We are so stoked and I am so nervous.  Will I be a good Father?  Will I know what to do with another child?  Will they love me like I loved them?  I know these questions are normal and I know this because I felt the same thing when The Lou came into our lives.  She is such a special little girl.  Not a day goes by when I don't thank God (and our angel...you know who you are) for bringing her to us.  She is so wonderful.  I know she will be an amazing big Sister.  I know Pooh will be the most awesome Mother.  I hope our little one has her eyes, her nose and my last name!

Conversations On A Swing, Part IV

Q:  Do you want a baby Brother or a baby Sister?
The Lou:  (with no pause) A Puppy!
Q:  Well, that aint gonna' happen, so do you want a baby Brother or a baby Sister?
The Lou:  Baby Sister!
Q:  You want someone to share your toys and clothes with, eh?
The Lou:  (Upon briefly evaluating my last statement)  Baby Brother!

I am sure she would be happy with either.
