Merry Birthday to the Little Guy

Yeah, that's right! It's my 3-month birthday!

And, Happy Christmas everyone too!

Christmas Eve we went to Grandpa John and Grandma Patty's for a great dinner with Mommy and Daddy, Uncle Jack, and Great Uncle JJ.

I got a brand new white teddy bear and some other cool stuff. It was a blast (or so I hear):

When I woke up yesterday, I was super-surprised that Santa had left us some gifts even though I ate his cookies (we must have been very good this year!):

We had a great time opening presents... Daddy's favorite gift was me:

My favorite present was Sophie:

And all in all, I have to say this was a pretty fun Christmas. In fact, I think it is safe to say it was my best Christmas ever.

[Parent edit: despite the lack of evidence in the photos we have been having a great time seeing Miles smile at us! He's recognizing us, talking to us (in his own language), and has discovered how to efficiently scratch his face].

All I Want for Christmas is a Brand New Icicle

Tonight, the fat man in the red suit is coming, and Mommy and Daddy told me he's going to bring me presents.

I don't really like rain, so I hope the fat man doesn't bring his rain deer, but Mommy and Daddy say that's how the fat man is going to get here.

On the other hand, I love snow. It's so white. It's like a bunch of pillows. I wonder if snow is warm.

I went out to play in it when it first started (see my post below), but it was too windy so I went in.

Anyways, I noticed that Mommy and Daddy are growing me some presents. I don't think I'm supposed to know what I'm getting until tomorrow, but I just can't wait to tell you...

As you may know, the toy hall of fame recently inducted the stick, which I guess makes it one of the best toys ever. Well, Mommy and Daddy aren't just getting me normal sticks.

Here's a picture of the front of our house:

And, if you look out the living room window, you can see the presents even better!

Yep, I'm getting icicles in my stocking for Christmas. They look like sticks, but they're clear. Isn't that cool? I wonder how Mommy and Daddy will wrap them.

Merry Christmas!

My First Christmas Tree

Mommy and Daddy are having fun giving me all of my holiday "firsts" so we headed out to a local tree farm to cut down our Christmas tree. Unfortunately the roads were a little too snowy and our tires started spinning on a hill so we didn't get to go to their first-choice farm. I guess they decided that sliding off the road into a ditch was one holiday first I don't need to experience yet.

Luckily we found a farm on the main road where I tolerated Daddy talking to the cows:

Mommy and Daddy took turns holding me while we inspected the crop:

We picked out a great tree and were soon ready to head home:

I supervised while they decorated the tree (I had a great view of the snow from the couch):

Now that we're snowed in, we're just relaxing and staying warm. I'm trying to get through wearing all of my Christmas clothes at least once, so that Mommy will have to do laundry while Daddy Daddy will have to do laundry while Mommy and I hang out. (Sorry Mommy, I didn't know what "gender stereotyping" meant until you explained it.)

I'm counting the days until I get to see Santa again. I'm not sure if I liked him enough the first time I met him to want to share any milk with him, but he can have all the cookies he wants.

Happy holidays. Enjoy the snow.

Accumulation!

Hi.

This morning it snowed. Daddy and I celebrated with a kiss before looking outside at the snow falling though our brand new windows (seriously, they finished installing them Friday -- it would have been cold in here without them):

Then Mommy and Daddy took me outside to play in the snow for the first time.

Here I am, freezing my butt off:

Here I am, telling Daddy that I'm freezing my butt off:

I think Daddy will get the day off tomorrow, so we might try snow angels. Or we'll stay in where it's warm and smells like cocoa, and I'll just watch the snow fall.

Who's the fat man in the red suit, and why should I care?

Yesterday, I went to my first mall (with the obligatory GNC).

I thought we were going to visit Jessica and Tori and Brian Mulroney, and do jumps on our skateboards, but we didn't even see Robin Sparkles.

Instead, I got to sit on a jolly old man's lap while Daddy took pictures.

The old man had presents all around him, but nobody gave me any. What's the point of presents if I'm not opening them, and who is this guy?

Santa is actually a pretty cool guy, though he occasionally reminded me of Billy Bob Thornton from that movie with Lorelai Gilmore (it must be some deep-seeded childhood thing):

He asked me what I wanted for Christmas. I wasn't sure what to say... brain-stimulating games, fuzzy things, or for someone to explain this Christmas-thing in terms I can understand (so immaculate conception means a stork wasn't involved?).
It's now been 26 days since the radio stations started playing Christmas music (my favorite is the one about the Missed Erg(onomic) Wrench, and how mean it is). Apparently I have to put up with this Christmas spirit stuff for another 21 days. I miss the Great Pumpkin, although he didn't give me presents either.
I don't think I'll ever let Mommy and Daddy trick me into going to the mall again - until Robin Sparkles has a comeback tour in Nanaimo.

Jovial Last Thursday in November Day!

I didn't want to get repetitive, so I looked up "Happy" in my thesaurus and it said "Jovial" means the same thing.

Last Thursday, Mommy and Daddy got me dressed up in my big bird costume (I'm too young to get the Sesame Street reference there).

Then Mommy and Daddy took me outside to get some fresh air before being smothered by family.

We had dinner at Grandma Patty and Grandpa John's house. Everybody was there: Grandpa Greg and Grandma Carolyn, Uncle Tristan and his girlfriend Linda, Uncle Jack, Great Uncle Jay, and Mommy and Daddy.

Grandpa John let me sniff the turkey, but it wasn't as good as milk, so I went to sleep.

Everybody was too busy stuffing their faces to get any pictures of me before, during, or after dinner.

Afterwards, we all went back over to my house, and Grandpa Greg and I hung out for a bit:

After awhile, our quality time was interrupted, and Mommy and Daddy put me to bed. Then they fired up the Wii, and the grandparents had a heated bowling battle:

I guess we do this every year. I can't wait until 2009, so I can eat a whole cheesecake after everybody leaves, like Daddy.

Happy 2-month birthday anniversary to me

Today I turned 2 months. With my newfound wisdom I look back on the childlike enthusiasm of my previous posts with laughter. Sure, pumpkins and volleyball games are fun, but all I really did was sleep all day. Look at me now!
Just chillin' in my backyard on a beautiful fall day:

The chillin' got a little chilly, so I went inside to warm up. Being warm is one of the things that makes me smile:

But once I got toasty, I remembered how great it was when I was little and could just nap all day, so I went back to my crib and went to sleep:

Miles Standish

I can't wait for Thursday! I've been practicing my gobble noises (they still kind of sound like coos) and am passing the time playing on my monkey play mat that Grandma Patty and Grandpa John got me.

I've also been reading up on Pilgrims and I discovered there was a military advisor for the Plymouth Colony named Miles Standish. Ok, his name was really Myles, but wikipedia says it is sometimes spelled with an "i" so I'm going to assume it was really Miles. Wikiality rocks.

Anyway, I'm going to spend Thanksgiving with both sides of my family. I'll get to see Grandmas Carolyn and Patty, Grandpas Greg and John, and my uncles!

My uncles are pretty cool; I haven't posted any photos of them before so check us out:

Here I am with Uncle John:

and Uncle Tristan:

and Great-Uncle J.J. (and cousin Jeanette)

Alright, it's nap time. Here are some Thanksgiving riddles for you (just hover over the hats to see the answers).

What does Frosty the Snowman eat on Thanksgiving?

What do math teachers do on Thanksgiving?

What goes "gobble, gobble" and can see just as well from one end as from the other end?

Under Construction

Between moving and having a laptop die I haven't been able to update the blog in forever! However, things are getting back to normal, and I'm happy to say I'm posting from my new home, which is still a work in progress.

Lately I've been hanging out a lot in our family room:

Living room:

Office (shout out to the cats for letting me nap in their bed):

And my bedroom:
From which I have an awesome view:

In general, things are going good! It has been getting chillier out, so I've been bundling up a bit more:

And I'm looking forward to Turkey day, although I don't know if we're getting an Ankara Turkey or an Istanbul Turkey.

Well, I'd better get some sleep or tomorrow morning will look like this:
(Taken after Daddy's birthday party!)

Good night and dance on tables,
Miles

270 votes. Check.

Go Obama!

I watched my first election coverage tonight. It was pretty boring and I still don't understand the whole electoral college thing. Is it a good school?

I also saw my first coyote today, running in front of our condo. Mommy wasn't fast enough to get a picture. She says they're pretty rare around here. Oh, and I heard thunder for the first time today too!

Trick or Milk!

Friday night was kinda weird.

Everybody in my neighborhood got dressed up in costumes and went around knocking on strangers' doors begging for candy. I don't understand why they weren't asking for milk.

Anyways, I joined in the fun by dressing up as Daddy.

I'm not really sure who my parents were supposed to be. If you ask me, they look pretty stupid.
