Addiction

Okay people. I've had a problem for some time and it's starting to get serious.

I mean, it was kinda alright when it first started out. Thought it was normal, and hey, I needed it anyway. In fact, some people even encouraged me, fueling some form of addiction.

I guess this sounds as if I'm pushing the blame, but I'm not. I guess I only have me to blame for my current state. It started out pretty innocently, once, twice, thrice a week, and I thought I had it under control.

And then it started to get worse. It happened every fortnight, but I took five or more every time. I still didn't think was a problem.

When I started work, here's where the problem went downright downhill. Soon I was up to half a pack a day, and now, at the end of the month, I'm almost through a pack I bought just late last night.

I guess I shouldn't bore you with any more details, but suffice to say I need help. Anyone with any information or advice will be welcomed. How do you quit?

These Clorets are damn addictive.

Insomnia

First off, belated Christmas to everyone! -

---

Had a long post planned about but think I will abandon it for sleep.
Contrary to the title I'm not insomnaic, it's just that I don't sleep.
It kind of backfired - after a week of establishing a new sleeping routine, I crashed and took a 5-hour nap today.

Obviously my mind hasn't learnt its lesson because it's 4.37am as I type this.

Okay, I'm going to sleep now OH NO is that work I'm supposed to be doing?

Yes it is!
And it was there since November!
Tomorrow.
And I said that since November!
---

Look, if I can't form complete, coherent sentences what makes you think I'll be able to sort through that? Instead I'm torturing you through random, non-intellectual discourses on my lack of discipline.

Hopefully something more coherent and something of more value will be coming your way on this blog soon.

Succession

It is now nearly 1.20am and instead of doing work like I should and I want to, I'm up reading Wiki on random stuff.

[Edit: it is now 2am and I am only slightly advanced in my work doing. On a related note I can't stop typing in complicated words.]

On that note, I thought of an awesome idea (for a book or something).

The US Presidency line of succession is as follows:

First, Vice President;
Second, Speaker of the House of Representatives;
Third, President pro tempore of the Senate;
Fourth, Secretary of State;
Fifth, Secretary of the Treasury;
Sixth, Secretary of Defense;
Seventh, Attorney General;
Eigth, Secretary of the Interior;

Ninth, Secretary of Agriculture;
Tenth, Secretary of Commerce;
Eleventh, Secretary of Labor;
Twelveth, Secretary of Health and Human Service;
Thirteenth, Secretary of Housing and Urban Development;
Fourteenth, Secretary of Transportation;
Fifteenth, Secretary of Energy;
Sixteenth, Secretary of Education;
Seventeenth, Secretary of Veterans Affairs, and;
Eighteenth, Secretary of Homeland Security.

Yeah, you probably can tell where this is going, and if you actually read through all that I congratulate you!

Maybe it's the way we all were brought up, but I don't know - Secretary of Veterans Affairs doesn't sound as if it should be higher up in the ladder than the Secretary of Homeland Security. But As of now, the furthest the ladder has gone is to Vice President, and that's it.

Anyway.

So here's my awesome idea.

A disgruntled Secretary of Homeland Security (note, 18th, and the last, on the list) sets about systematically murdering, executing, or otherwise incapacitating the previous seventeen office holders, so he/she can become Acting President.

OR maybe he/she could just kill off the first couple, Vice Pres, Speaker, all the way to the Attorney General, and have numbers Eight through Seventeen resign through sheer fear.

Whoo -

Okay back to work.

---

On another note the capitalised word "Speaker" suddenly sounds so awesome.

---

[Edit:

On yet another note, I have so far met two people I know at work. Both of which are either my direct superior's peer (ie. my superior) or my superior superior's wife (still my superior).

I think I shall follow bow's example and make a 6-koma about a really ... um ... awkward/terrifying incident that happened 2 days ago. Remind me when I wake up.]

Movie

It seems that my attempts at following the crowd have once again fallen flat on its ambitious face.

I guess that even though I just mentioned that I embrace my nonconformity (read: weirdness) I'm still trying to fit in at the end. I'm starting to be scared of that.

Well, fish that.

I guess that this is a wake-up call - in the midst of brilliant animation and stereotypical, sometimes shite storylines, kiddie movies still have a point to make: the who airy-fairy "be who you are, no point pretending" and all the optimistic, naive kiddie fluff.

But honestly though it's becoming increasingly true.

Figure that this is my subconscious reason for my rejection of fashion and trends. But I don't know, the Disney movie people always seem very well dressed.

And anyway I do recognise that not everyone might share my taste in odd / creepy / melancholy satire music.

So Guoshe, thanks for the wakeup call - whether that was your intention or not. A tip of the hat to you. And thanks, Sunflwr, I really do appreciate that <=]

There Will Be Brawl isn't released yet. It was supposed to be "noon, EST". Probably at midnight here, seeing how the majority of the viewers are probably two continents and twelve timezones away.

Regardless, if I'm still awake, I will still watch it (against my better judgement) in the middle of the night.

Brawl

Okay I know this is late -

But There Will Be Brawl's final episode is coming out tomorrow TODAY. It's the webseries I've gotten Mushroom Kingdom Nocturne, Italian Plumber OC Remix, (and am wanting to get The Very Best from). It's amazing, just don't watch a few episodes at night.

I'm sorry guys I should have shared this with you earlier but I must have forgotten -

Wait, I did mention it?
Oh then that's okay.

If you miss out on this one it's your own fault xD

[Edit:

Just got The Very Best. Am now frantically trying to embed it into the blog.]

Connection

OKAY HELLO I'M BACK

In my defence I spent the past two weeks with virtually no (read: none) internet access, so I apologize that I haven't updated since then.
So to remedy that, here's a long post I typed while taking lunch from work. Yep, all in the space of ten minutes of frantic typing. Conjoined to it is a post composed after work, at the same connection-failed McDonalds.

Enjoy! Please do tag -

---

At time of writing this is my precious little break time from work, and I am currently spending it in a MacDonalds frantically trying to connect to the wireless network. Yes, the plight of the Internet-depraved.

After 10 minutes of frantic jabbing and a tortorously slow Internet connection, I managed to load my email log-in page and tried 3 times to enter. On the third time it worked, only to come up with another of the eternally "Loading..." phenomenon, closely related to the loading screen singularity.

And then the connection died. ._.

Anyway. So I know I will post this up at a later time - hopefully tomorrow - but I apologise for the lack of posts. Okay back to work.

---

Five and a half hours later and I'm back at practically the same spot in the same McDonalds trying to set up an internet connection. I've moved a little thinking it'll help my connection.

Apparently I've moved in the wrong direction ._.

At work I've had my hard work praised, my bumbling carefully pointed out, my ignorance magnified, and my sexuality questioned.

Yes those who just skimmed over that previous paragraph, look again.

Yeah I will raise my hand and admit I've never had a girlfriend (although my junior's junior's juniors have had a couple, and that little kid on the talent show had one), I don't enjoy shopping, I don't usually watch movies or go out to LAN.

Someone commented I had a boring life, I disagreed.

Funnily enough, this connects back to what Liki said - what constitutes "having a life"? Just because I don't have the normal expected consumeristic (cue shouts of "communist!") tendencies, nor natural hormonal fluctuations, doesn't mean I'm any less life than any of you.

Although it makes me miles weirder.

And I'll take that xD

In fact, to me, most of the world is weird. I doubt I will ever understand the sudden urge to splurge hard-earned money on something just because of a couple of letters printed across it, or being romantically interested (the latter for now, at the very least).

Honestly a lot of human behviour nowadays kind of boggles me.

So perhaps I'm not weirder, I'm just seeing the world in a different light.

So next time, when you realise I have no fashion sense, ability of perception of "beauty", romantic interest in all three sexes (male sex, female sex and insects), please do understand I'm just a little weirder; no need for me to get in your way.

---

Yay work and nine hours of listening to the same Christmas disgusting Santa Claus carols over and over again.

I have now developed an extreme dislike of "Here Comes Santa Claus" but secretly smile and sing along to "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus".

At least my workplace is sensible enough to occasionally play something else other than hymns involving Santy Claus. I particularly look forward to the jazz rendition of "It's My Life". This repetoire includes the song Quando Quando Quando.

And when I'm bored out of my skull, or hungry and waiting for lunch, and over the intercom "Every moment seems a day... Every day seems a lifetime..." is soothingly played over the speakers I can't help but wonder if the management purposely chose that song.

But now for a small discussion on something rather close to our hearts - romance.

Specifically, romance in kiddie films.

I found it - and still do find it - incredibly irritating. There are some good ones, or some films that don't require ridiculously contrived smooching to make the show successful, but more often than not I am extremely skeptical of any love scenes.

Imagine then, my joy and surprise when Madagascar didn't feature a single love scene. And it wasn't half bad, too. Admittedly the friendship thing was clinche but at least it was quite well done.

And then Madagascar 2 showed up featuring an utterly unneeded and cringeworthy inter-species romance. My jaw dropped more than King Julian's when he realised that a shark followed him 3 kilometers inland. In a forest. And through a desert.

I mean come on.

Some are okay, like maybe Shrek. And at least the idea of romance is kinda interesting there, like human/ogre-ogre love, and the idea of appearence vs. reality (or something to that effect). Or Mulan in the first movie, where it was actually OK and not all mushy mushy.
Although I don't have a love life to speak of I don't mind others having it, and this extends to cartoon characters.

So long as it's not incredibly stupid.

That's why I'm actually afraid of my favourites falling into the clutches of Hollywood or something, because they have a track record of screwing things up.

And not with romance, then with overdramatisation. Like the upcoming Sherlock Holmes, which I am already skeptical by just seeing the advertisment, which seems to place the sole emphasis of the story on Holmes' previous boxing career. And I won't be surprised if they try to hook Holmes up with his landlady Mrs Hudson. Or Watson's sister. Or Watson.

I rarely have a bone to pick with films (or practically anything, except poorly constructed arguments) because I recognize the enormous amount of hard work that goes behind scriptwriting, acting/animating and execution. Buuuut I think that this little segment in scriptwriting, which could have such horrible knock-on consequences, could have a little more effort dedicated to it, to be avoided.

All in all, love scenes and all those should be well thought out, especially when you're catering to kids. Like, seriously. If well done, it can be thought-provoking (cue Mulan/Shang) or at least funny (cue Madagascar penguin/bobble doll) but if not it could be horrible (cue hippo/giraffe) and at worst cause rectal leakage and vomiting (cue Holmes/his left hand).

For now, here's a little tidbit and hopefully some inspiration for future film directors and scriptwriters. Cheerio.

I saw Mommy kissing Santa Claus
Underneath the mistletoe last night
She didn't see me creep
Down the stairs to have a peek
She thouht I was tucked in my bedroom fast asleep

I saw Mommy tickle Santa Claus
Underneath his beard so snowy white
Oh what it could have been
If Daddy had only seen
Mommy tickling Santa Claus last night

Nocturne

I've just realised that there is such a fictional character called Benjamin Bunny.
It all makes sense now...
Moving right along -

Yes so at the behest of a viewer here is a new post.

---

Been watching There Will Be Brawl, despite all my previous reluctance on anything vaguely dealing with horror in a visual medium. Words are okay, I always felt, but movies and films were on a totally different level.

And yes, I am easily frightened by horror films. Now go away.

But There Will Be Brawl is simply too epic to let my petty misgivings get into the way of remarkable storytelling and low-budget-yet-awesome effects and makeup. Plus, the songs are good. I'm planning to embed Mushroom Kingdom Nocturne as a background song for the blog (if legal) so you can all enjoy creepy music whenever and whereve you are.

Oh and by the way the magic formula was to simply watch it in the day.

...and try not to think of it at night.

---

The job's holding up pretty fine, although it's starting to take a toll on my legs.
I'm wishing I have commission. But meh.

On hindsight it was incredibly stupid to take up a job in the place I least like to be...
...but at least there's air-con. Whoo -

Yes, I don't like to go to shopping malls.

On a totally unrelated note, had Mos Burger for lunch-dinner today. It was awesome.
Or maybe just because I was hungry.

---

On the other hand 20c is still money.
How did you do it, Tracy?

...and then you go there and earn 20c and you go there and earn 20c and you go the other place and earn 20c and then you go another there and earn 20c then you will have ONE DOLLAR. Then you can go to the dollar shop and buy something provided that you actually know where it is.

Clothes

On a brighter note, I got the job -

On a dimmer note, I now realise how stupid that decision was -

But as a whole, I think it should be a learning experience and all that. It's gonna be new and all that... but honestly I feel as if I'm irresponsibly leaving something behind. Gah.
I'm sorry -
Just what am I sacrificing for what?

---

On a random note, do you know how hard it is for me to shop for clothes?

At my size, most clothing stores direct me to thier "children's section" where the design of the clothes range from plain childish to the painfully embarassing - and I speak as one who has never been interested in any point of fashion.

And even if they do have my size, the odd length of my arms ensure that it's going to look odd anyway.

So I did the best thing possible: I pride myself on my heck-care attitude to dressing up ^^ if it's cheap, fits, and looks at least reasonably nice, I'll get it.

Which made getting this shirt even more awesome because it actually looks good.

... but then again I'm speaking from my point of view so yeah, it's probably a little warped keheheh.

... OH SHIT I'M BLOGGING ABOUT HOW I BOUGHT A SHIRT
The banality of the situation just astounded me. I have no idea why I did that.

Please, I beg of you, come back to this blog. I promise you, this streak of extreme-coffee-highness and incoherent, babbling, idiotic posts won't last very long.

...which is even more disturbing because I haven't had any coffee.

Playing

I hate playing catch-up.

---

Am now recovering from a three-way conference call, which although admittedly fun and entertaining has left my right ear rather warm.

Okay, it's damn hot.

And my phone ran out of battery. ._. Meh.

And so I finish the call at 1.45 am to find out that the family printer's on my bed. And everyone else is asleep.

[Edit:

This is freaking scary.]

Headphones

Oyez, I'm trying to change the topic.

---

Sigh, I guess it didn't go that well, did it?
Don't worry, there'll be others <=D At the risk of sounding clinché, try your best, have no regrets.

There's a lot of things that could be done, but as everyone has said (and I won't repeat) you guys did make the most out of a bad situation... and honestly that was a job quite well done.

Dwell not on the past (except where it's awesome!) but just enough to draw lessons and then move on. Good luck all of you. ^^

---

Spent 30 minutes typing a coherent, point-by-point rant, before deleting it.

...suffice to say, please don't piss me off and try to pick an argument with me.
Especially after a debate competition.
And if you want to do it, please make sure your logic is at least... well... existant.

Actually I'm fine with anything. I'm looking forward to an argument I can rip to shreds with my bare teeth after it's been filed, so I can do the fabled Seventeen-Tier Rebuttal Sequence without fear of a time limit.

Hey, whatever gets me on a high. It's better than crack.

Brick

It's finally over -

I know everytime I say that, a new deluge of work will wash over me and I'll start the tedious process of actually doing the work all ove again.

But for now, this bugbear's gone -

It was enjoyable, to be honest - at least the first bit. And ah well, it's a learning experience at all. But it's now a weight off my shoulders, like a ton of bricks that just hit the floor, right next to my head, and suddenly everything seems okay ^^

---

I am looking forward to tomorrow.

Disillusionment

To be updated at length, some time in the near future.

Suffice to say:

CD/DVD-Rs are the most expensive yet ineffective and hard-to-get-to-f-k-ing-work piece of shit.
I've seen pieces of paper with easier storage of data.

Video

Oh boy.

It's 10pm, I'm tired, but I'm still going to have to do work anyway ><

You know, last time when our hardest homework was to copy out our penmanship exercises a couple of times, and everyone in the class was whining about how tiring and pointless it was to take 10minutes of our night to doodle characters in a book?

... I'd like to swap, past-me.

Now off to hopefully get the work done, and not to repeatedly bash my head against a virtual wall and fall asleep from the concussion.

--

And on another note those penmanship exercises came to nought in the end.
My handwriting looks like a drunkard trying to achieve cursive writing.

I guess that makes the jobs of my handwriting analysts much easier, once the murders begin.

Faulty

The World Ends With Update.

Yes people, I'm sorry for neglecting the blog for a long time; in all honesty I didn't know what exactly to write. Meanwhile people like Tracy have moved blog, posted, posted pictures (oh no the pictures) and a whole lot of random stuff - Hotan's quoted me and now I feel random.

Meanwhile I've been taking to talking sardonically and drawing incompatible metaphors. =D

And right now am with two friends, watching them argue over how to properly play Plants Vs. Zombies. Braaains.

Anyway. You're all here for intelligent discourse and political dialogue of the ages, yes? Yes?

...keep looking.

But in all seriousness!
Here's an AWESOME comic I stumbled upon, and my only regret is not finding it sooner. Made by a pair of roomates at University (I think they're still there), Jalyss and Fox have appeared at cons and stuff, and their work is generally all-around awesomeness.

I particularly enjoy Fox (and his drawings), partially because they're more random. Also, foxes. Jalyss' seems to be more rational, but just as entertaining. In any case, it's VGCats-esque material, but it's just as awesome, and doesn't always focus on videogames. Do look at their comments after each comic, they're very, very entertaining as well.

Unfortunately it's on hiatus, while Fox and Jalyss push out a new book (yes, a book whoh.) So yup! I suggest starting from the earlier comics and moving forward to the present.

So yup. Go visit Faulty Logic. Awesome.

Or alternatively, to save you a couple of clicks, here is the link to the first comic, then you can just keep clicking "Next" from there.

---

AH - Tracy's just reminded me that my blog's birthday has past... and in retrospect I probably would have been too drunk and high (no, not really) to remember anyway.

So yup. shatteredviews' been in existence for more than a year now, and I think it's come some way, at the very least, from the old HTML black-and-yellow affair that I leeched a server to go online. And where the modus operandi of posting was to change it in Notepad and manually edit each and every post.

Haha, back then lkh was laughing and me and trying to persuade me to go on Blogger, and I adamantly refused.

I'm not sure how and when I got up here, but this is not a history lesson or me remniscing about the not-so-glorious pure-HTML-code backalley of blogs. Suffice to say I'm grateful to all the old taggers (lkh, bow, tyjiunn, wenhao, etc.) , especially those who followed me from the past and all the new taggers of today. And also MJ, our surprise tagger back on the old blog, and of which I'm pretty embarassed...

But anyway. It's been a year, and the blog half-chronicles the little aspects and facades of happiness, anger, confusion and general high-ness I've had for the past year - that I've allowed to go public. So yeah. I don't know what's it's in aid of, but it has to count for something.

If not for anything else, it's a tribute to all the needless hours when I could be sleeping or doing other random shit when I was blogging or frantically refreshing the pages to see new tags. (Or more recently, to witness PEDOBEAR's and Trace's spammage.)

So yup.

Happy birthday ~

Soft

Just today I found an email that promoting a bunch of "Affordable Soft".
I was kinda curious so I opened it, expecting to find the usual 50% off Viagra or condoms or sanitary pads.

Instead, I found an advertisment for Microsoft.

My confidence in Microsoft's advertising techniques kinda dipped there and then.
And watching a few funny Mac advertisments didn't help, haha.

---

Nothing much to post because nothing much has been happening.
Although, I recently found out I can break into a sweat by simply walking.
On a night.
After it just rained.

Having a high metabolism and all is awesome, but...

---

Saw a message reading "JOB OPPORTUNITY! SEE FLYER BELOW!" and no other information. Curious - and also looking for an easy job on the side - I clicked the link, only to find an awesome poster with incredible graphics and all the information I ever wanted to know about the job, and then some.

Nah, I was kidding.

It was a Powerpoint-created piece-of-paper-with-a-bend-in-a-corner, with two lines of plain text. "Promoter. Call XXX at 555-12345".

Well for all my expectations about the poster, it came out pretty unspectacular. I mean, you could easily have put the information in the very message, right? Wouldn't that attract even more potential interested employees waiting to service your every need?

I clicked on the link anyway. Call me a hypocrite in this aspect, then. *shrug*
Or not, perhaps I'm just dedicated and I passed their subtle test to see who would bother clicking the link.
Bwahahaha-
I'm considering this holding out until my dream job whoo~
Okay I'm rambling now. I won't mind if you don't read the above - I'm just feeling random right now. I'll probably regret this post at a later date - at which time I will go through the dilemna of to-delete-or-not-to-delete, which I will solve by closing my eyes and flipping a coin.

But nevertheless, tag please. We've had illustrious guests recently.

Paper

What is going on in the world?

Now that I've actually had time to slow down, you know what keeps us from ennui? Work, and school. Yes. Precisely.

The things which everyone detests so much actually keeps us from going batshit bored and insane. And honestly though, there's only so much DoTA you can have before you tire of it. In fact, the presence of (unwanted?) work whets your appetite for it.

In the end, what's in all in aid of? A single piece of paper. Or a couple of pieces of paper, if you're lucky. For what? To get a better job, so you can have more peices of paper with famous people and numbers printed on them.

I recall saying, near the end of last year, that 4 years of my life were accumulated into one of such pieces of paper. Really didn't know how that felt until then. It's kinda saddening, really.

In the end, all this is a futile attempt trying to justify one's existence on the earth, and to kill time while we still have it (or before it kills us).

But, cheer up. Since it's here to stay, don't fight against it, but flow with it. Be happy, even in the paper chase - don't let it dominate your life, but keep within the system and be happy where you are.

Anyway when the bomb goes off it won't make a difference, so might as well be happy while you can yes?

Mark

Around the 1am mark I got fed up of trying to figure out where each individual key on my keyboard was in the dark, gave up work and decided to go watch Zero Punctuation.

On a happier note, I finally got a nice pen.

Also, I realise my posts are becoming increasingly terse and banal and so I hope to make it up to you via... longer, rantier posts on a more infrequent basis.

But after all aren't blogs supposed to be your own method of communication?

... but yeah I do realise that you don't want every detail of my waking life in full glorious Technicolour.
Also am compensating with hopefully wittier commentary.
So I'll just give you a few, here and there, until I can afford the super mind-cap that directly beams thoughts into your head.

Wall

They say each US President can be known by a single sentence he uttered. One of the most famous is: "Mr Gorbachev, tear down this Wall!"

... and of course coming in a close second is "I did not have sexual relations with that woman."
And in both events we all know what happened a couple of days afterwards.

Cancel

After an ardously long wait (read: 160 minutes) my computer is stuck in the horrible trap of the loading-screen singularity, with the words "98% done" and "2 minutes remaining" mocking me for the past 45 minutes. Screw that, seriously.

Anyway.

My work is currently progressing on in 5-minute increments, because whenever I do something that takes a little more than 5 seconds to register I go watch Zero Punctuation.

Sure, it takes a long long time to get anything done but at least you're happy while you work.

And if you enjoy something else there's always blogging.

Transfer

The day passed by in a slow-motion blur. I didn't get much accomplished, yet I felt this sense of contentment and happiness. Plus, things are looking up for the rest of the week - I'll be a little busier, but that'll be fine.

Also, good luck to all those going to the Hague! I'll be waiting here, waiting for news of your awesome exploits =D
As I said, my career on this was a short but rather fulfilling one.
As well as those going to the Numerical Testing Ubuntus, best of wishes to you too! XD May you guys mercilessly crush all opposition without so much so as a finger and make yourself well-recognized in a good way ^^
I leave it with regrets, but nothing too major.
---

Oh and for those interested, here's three good shorts to watch!
Minesweeper: The Movie Trailer!
The Matrix runs on XP!
and Face(book) Off!

Awesome things, definitely worth a look.
I wanna create something like that too~
---

Today I was trying to transfer two packs of data - one 6GB and one 5GB.
The 6GB one showed up on the Windows popup thing as 2 and a half hours. I shrugged it off laughing.

Then I realised it was serious.

So I closed all other programs, left it alone, went for a leisurely MRT ride, ran around the block, took a bath, came back and found it still downloading. Meh.

At night, I transferred the 5GB one. I braced myself for the worst.

With Blogger open, a couple of Windows Explorer and IE, it has taken a grand total of 3 minutes.
No it's not porn, you gotta believe me on this one.
Guys, something is up here -

Awkwardness

When you visit someone's blog and see them ranting about their deep and personal anguish and pain and blues, do you comment?
That's why I don't rant so often, I love your tags!
Hurriedly, we scroll down or up a little, find an innocuous blogpost and leave a comment or tag on how funny so-and-so was doing such-and-such, or how yes, indeed, you should have gone with hot pink instead.

... I know life needs a bit more surrealism, but if anyone faces the same problem do let me know. Let me know I'm not alone in all of this.
Perhaps it's the price to pay: not knowing how to respond in angsty situations.
And also if this ever happens to you you'll know that at least some people actually do care. Just that they don't know how to express it.

Lunch

I haven't had a proper lunch in two days.
And meh, I somehow can't eat that heavy a dinner. Or else I'll simply fall asleep.
Oh well, thriftiness in an economic downturn win. *shrugs*
Am I anorexic? NO I'M NOT
---

T'was a fit of anger. And now I'm not even sure what I wanted to write about.

Sudden bursts of anger has this weird, soothing, nearly wonderful way of erasing things from your mind.

Can't we all just accept we're all at fault and move on? And how funny how quick you are to call in favours (nothing wrong with that, honestly) but seem to forget that I ever did anything for you.

I'm looking at you now. I know what you're doing. I know exactly what you're doing.
Nearly precisely the same thing as me. Screaming it to the rest of the world.

Oh boy, oh joy. Yadda yadda yadda.

Common sense dictates that you at least do that out of my sight, but it seems that your unfounded, unjustified, petty little excuse for what could be called anger has left no room for any semblance of respect. At all. At all. Not that it was really there in the first place, but humour me.
Ah, but therein lies the difference.

I'm as worked up as you, but I'm sure not letting you - or anyone else, for that matter, don't take it personally - ruin the rest of my day. See ya.
Surprise. Yes. I can be very caustic when I want to.
--- Just because I don't, doesn't mean I CAN'T.
PLEASE DON'T LET IT BE DIRECTED AT YOU.

Was originally going to post something insightful here but forget it for now. I'll post it up the next time.
Maybe I should just explode. Once. Violently. Spectacularly.
Next up: A commentary on the paper chase! Something I'm sure we're all familiar with...
It'll prevent you from taking me for granted.

Disturbed

Am simultaneously excited, disgusted, reassured and disturbed.

And also have the nagging suspicion that sometimes people can somehow subliminally read my mind.
It's scary, an innocuous comment could relate so closely to what I was thinking about.

*sigh*

Shock

Have been watching Zero Punctuation for some time now.
The stuff's kind of addicting, sort of like an online rusty scapel to the head for masochists wearing virtual reality get-up, because Zero Punctuation kind of does nothing but bash up most acclaimed games.

And it's fun.

I'm not a gamer (the more perspective of you will have gathered I have played nothing more than CS: Condition Zero with the accuracy of not being able to hit the floor if it wasn't for gravity) but Zero Punctuation is simply hilarious.

Go watch it, honestly.
It's somewhat NSFW, but even if you don't play the games (or have never heard of them before) they will still be awesome. Animations (if you call them that) are well chereographed and simply hilarious.

Take it from someone whose only experience in DoTA was:
1. trying to figure out which character he was, and
2. trying to figure out if he was alive/dead (more often dead).

So yup, do go check it out. Awesome stuff that.

---
For those reading this, leave a tag with "Schadenfreude" in it.
Oh and by the way its nearly Halloween.
I say nearly because it's another 10 minutes but I can't be bothered to wait.
If I can, I'll get you some candy.
So yup.
Trick or treat.
Boo.

Nuclear

Note to self: HHan cannot pronounce "Bushehr".
Awesome ^^

---

Immanuel Kant was a real pissant
Who was very rarely stable
Heidegger, Heidegger was a boozy beggar
Who could think you under the table
David Hume could out-consume
Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel
And Wittgenstein was a beery swine
Who was just as schloshed as Schlegel

There's nothing Nietzsche couldn't teach ya'
Bout the raising of the wrist
Socrates himself was permanently pissed

John Stuart Mill, of his own free will
On half a pint of shandy got particularly ill
Plato, they say, could stick it away
Half a crate of whiskey every day
Aristotle, Aristotle was a bugger for the bottle
Hobbes was fond of his dram
And René Descartes was a drunken fart
"I drink therefore I am"

Yes, Socrates himself is particularly missed
A lovely little thinker but a bugger when he's pissed

Yell

I know I've said it before, to let emotions calm down first before doing anything - including blogging - but I don't know, let me try out something new, which is not that new, because it's been done before; basically, the primal scream, such as to relieve tension, although I found it to be less effective in real life because for me its simply gives me a sore throat and even if I pretend to be okay I've actually got more pent up; I guess this translates into this realm as continual quick typing, fingers bouncing off the keys, and typing so much without a fullstop, and so I hope you readers will forgive me if I indulge myself this once:

INSOLENCE
No it didn't work there's still more pent up

Banana

Ruminations on a straight banana I found.

Various people to Steo and me: Why are you holding that banana like that!
[It's up to your imagination, people.]

Steo: My proposal is like this straight banana. It stands up to inspection.

Matt: This banana is on the straight and narrow. And yellow.

Me: *holds banana in a gunlike manner* Pewpewpew.
Cai: Are you a Western gunslinger?
Me: ... No, I'm Arabic.
Cai: What, you rub the banana and a genie comes out?

[Neither Cai or me are Western nor Arabic, no offense meant.]

Steo: *slams banana down in front of the Backpacker* Straight banana is straight! *walks off*
The Backpacker: *stares intently at banana*

Steo: *attacks The Backpacker with the straight banana, with the intent of forcing it down the back of his shirt*
The Backpacker: [Note, this is a manly man.] *cowers and runs away with Steo in hot pursuit*
Cai: Big Strong Russian Guy afraid of Another Russian Guy's Banana.

Steo: *slams banana onto Cai's tie, which is yellow* This banana matches your tie.
*pause*
Steo: You should put it into your pants.

It's an innocent banana, people, what do you think?

Lover

After a rather short (and terse) couple of posts, I guess I should say something a little longer.

First off, the spam that's been apearing on my tagboard is not in fact a well-coordinated cyberterrorist act. It's been a little experimentation between Tracy and PEDOBEAR to find out just how much power the Backspace and Enter keys wield on my keyboard, and also to test the anti-spam and vulgarity filter.

The answer: pretty powerful, although not as much as on PEDOBEAR's, and the anti-spam filter shuts out the entire IP address after a set amount of quick posts. Tadah.

It has been in fact a poorly-coordinated cyberrandomness act. Whoo~ move on, people haha.

---

Ever had a situation when you're doing something really, really tedious (or simply plain hard) and proudly finish it off, wipe the sweat from your forehead with the back of your hand, and then realise that actually you've done something wrong?

Like, say, somewhere at the start, so the rest of the process screwed up?

Yeah.

The feeling sucks.

Somehow a few people have been getting that lately (myself included). I guess it's testament to the amount of really, really tedious (or simply plain hard) work that we have to do now. Ah *shrugs*

But it's kay, move on...
It's therefore important not to blog on instinct - the post would have been very different had I managed to string together a more-or-less coherent post.

Twitter causes more angst and regret because of instantaneous messaging! Someone should go do research on it...

Have got "Billie Jean" stuck in my head for a while now. Ah well.
Another piano piece I may try to learn, right after the Halo theme.

On the other hand, the cake is a lie.
I hope to draw and edit as well as this.

Achievement

I discovered today that the most important keys on PEDOBEAR's keyboard is the "Enter" key and "Backspace".
Trace demonstrated this point by rapidly spamming those keys, leading to the popping up of random windows, destroying Word documents, as well as getting PEDOBEAR, herself, and myself banned from the tagboard.

Yes, yes, Achievement Unlocked : getting me banned from my own tagboard =.=
Thanks for checking the anti-spam filter: it works ~

[Edit: Nyah, spelling redone, I think.]

Back

Finally INTERNETZ!

---

It's times like this when you really evaluate what's important to you...
And increasingly I'm aware of things I wasn't aware before and am not really sure whether I want to know - all the joking about "Do I want to know? No -" aside.

I lay awake at night and think of the word 梦.

---

Really, really, really looking forward to Opens, in whatever capacity I'm going as (including spectator). I wonder what will happen.

Tag please cho! Sustain my flagging ability to post -

Sigh

Losing internet connection again is the lose.

Thanks for keeping the tagboard alive (sort of), will reply to your tags ASAP.
Thanks guys.

Am getting offline now before the Interwebz sucks any more of my precious time.

Meanwhile, to keep you guys entertained, the people at the
Onion News Network!
I advise you to watch it first, then rewatch it to read all the little text boxes that usually no one pays attention to. You will be rewarded.

Design

Whoo~ VGCats updated!
With new character design!

... which is more than I can say for the new character art for xkcd...
...but hey that was awesome.

Everytime I think I draw something vaguely close to the original, he just goes and one-ups it.
It's irritating, but awesome to look at.

---

First legitimate excuse to write "f***" in an exam script.
Funny enough no?
I wondered what the markers' reactions would be when they found all of us swearing at them through our answers.
And then I realised that they started it. (Twice! In the question paper! They deserved it, ha.)

Later found out that most people just used it once.
Too much would be kinda obvious (that you're doing it just for the kicks).

Still, that's one paper I want to get back ASAP.

Okay, take it from me.

A little too late, I thought of something to post on the subject of my lack of connectivity to the InterWebz. I think ggoh would appreciate it.

Ears

Was happily doing my work, when it came into my mind to go on the great evil that is... Wikipedia.

In my defense, I was simply doing my work, and in its defense, it really isn't evil. However, when you start clicking tabs, more and more things surface in your mind and you get an insatiable desire to CLICK EVERYTHING IN SIGHT.

...no? Okay, it's just me, move on.

In any case, I was reminded of jack'al.

So I Googled him for fun, and went to visit his blog. And I realised that he's been posting so infrequently and has so little tags that my old tag from 2007 is still there, in the viewable archives. Whoo, haha, it's good to know I'm leaving a little imprint on someone else's blog.

But anyway. I reread some of his latest posts. Nothing in and of itself bad, but yeah. Just got that sinking feeling again.

We used to be closer, but never that close. Small E was much, much closer, they'd talk and joke and crap a lot together haha. Not that I minded, I mean, who can blame you for having friends? And Small E and I were pretty close last time too. Good times, good times.

Recently because of issues... partially brought about by me, I'm still inclined to believe - I no longer had the time to spend that much time with them. Inevitably this led to a breakdown in communications and such, and yeah. Our relationships, which were... "okay" to begin with, started to grow colder.

Now I'm not saying anything bad here. I have nothing but the most awesome respect for jack'al and Small E. But I'm just saying that I miss the old days. When we could make fun of jack'al drinking eggs out of a cup. (That still freaks me out.)

Just today jack'al MSNed me. Laughed at my MSN pm, worried that I was emo. I pointed out I wasn't emo, and that his pm was more emo than mine. It was funny, really, we had what, a good 3-5min conversation. And this week he MSNed me while he was on the job, haha. Had his laptop set up and all, and was bored. I was amused, but above all touched that he decided to stop by and chat.

You see, unlike him, I never really made the leap. jack'al and Small E have - for the lack of a better term - immersed themselves in their work. I've long ago identified when they were in that zone, that aura, where I learned not to disturb them or even ask them questions that were not absolutely necessary - because they'd be concentrating 110%. I still admire that, and find it awesome - if a little creepy.

On the other hand, I'm not in it. And yet again, I'm not out of it. I'm suspended in limbo, in between, neither fully buried in what we're doing and yet not out of the loop entirely, stuck watching them rather enviously beside the mixer with ears that seem to be failing me, well before I hit old age.

Remember that time I posted about a certain guy saying "hi" to me? I was awestruck that he actually recognized me. Yup.

I'm not complaining, don't get me wrong! ... In fact. They are awesome friends, awesome persons in and of themselves, and through them I learnt a lot, met a lot of great people, talked, laughed (but never cried. Yet.)

It's like... half-losing contact with your good friends? There's no hard feelings (well, not on my side, at any rate) but things just aren't the same.
It's like this - they're like Sennheiser and Shure
Made of sheer pwn

and I'm the cheap headphones I bought a while back
the right side went deaf and the left one distorted
Last Saturday we got together. Small E cracked a lame joke. We all laughed. Like we used to.
Everything else is changing.

---

And if you've actually read through that, I don't know whether to congratulate your or to scratch my head.
I must thank you though for reading through that... more emotive post.
I've been meaning to do it for quite some time, just that I couldn't seem to put thoughts to words.

Rest assured there won't be much else of such things, but today's an exception.

Why am I even doing this? jack'al's only visited once, and MJ knows only my old blog. (It was REALLY embarassing when they dropped by...)
I guess I'll just need this as a place to spill my emotions, an archive.

Cardboard

I do not play the Metal Gear franchise, but I do SSBB a bit.
So it was to my great delight when we found a rather copious amount of cardboard near our little coffeeshop bench yesterday afternoon.

Proceeded to hide in a box fashioned from two cardboard strips (in homage to Snake), shuffled around a bit (and got kicked at, what the?) then tumbled out of it and waved to an astonished, grownup passerby.

A few of us wrapped Mokfai in cardboard (like a cuboid of cardboard), complete with cardboard top. When he started shuffling forward it was pretty awesome. We attracted quite a lot of stares hm. Haha good times.

Unfortunately today the cardboard reserves disappeared. Sadly enough.

And then today, while I followed Trace and Mokfai to eat nearby, we found a larger stash of cardboard on top a recycling bin! Whoo~
We didn't touch it today, but if ever we need cardboard we know where we're going to now.

---

I now re-remember why I didn't use to blogsurf often.
It's fricking depressing.

Shaku's shifted. Recent posts do make quite a lot of sense.
It's a cold cruel world out there - take hope, you'll need it.

---

Some people in the world are just dedicated to being retards.
They manifest in this current day and age as trollers on the Net and assholes in real life.

But why let them screw up your life? There's more to life than that - and your world is not supposed to revolve around them, so I don't see why we need to give more than a cursory glance at their attacks.

Don't get me wrong - there's a place for open debate and disagreements, you CAN disagree without being an asshole.

So smile! Life's okay, don't let a retard screw up *your* life, even for an hour.

In other news, I realise I'm supposed to be doing my work.
More after the weather.

Cookies

It's late, and instead of doing work (which I should be, by rights) I'm reading MLIA.
Sorry, Stace, but I was reading that before I saw your tag.
And in any case, everyone could use a little uplifting stuff, hm?

I don't usually post like this, but these actually made me lol.

Today I configured my laptop to recognize speech. Ten minutes later I forgot. Out loud I asked what the time was. I screamed and fell off my bed when it responded. MLIA

Today, while I was at work, I came across a book called the Office Management Field Guide. In big letters at the top, it said OMFG. I chuckled, and when no one was looking, I took a picture. MLIA

My sister just got a new boyfriend. Today, we asked if we could go to the Virgin Festival. My mom said that I could, but she wasn't sure they'd let my sister in. I love my mom. MLIA

Today, I yelled "Hey stupid!" into a very crowded school hallway. About 6 people turned around to answer. It made my day. MLIA.

A few years ago, I got a fortune cookie with a fortune that read "Help! I'm being held prisoner in a Chinese bakery!" I laughed at the time, but now I sometimes worry that they are still waiting for me to rescue them. MLIA.

---

I hold Trace responsible for hooking me onto these Twitter-like comments.
In the meanwhile, I have my own answers to the last two MLIAs.

This year, I heard someone (males) calling "Hey, shuai ge!" behind my back. I was some distance away, and it was kind of crowded. I looked back anyway, and looked questioningly for the source of the voices. I saw them, and heard them laughing. It was pretty awesome.

And listening to all the MLIAs about people living in the West and fortune cookies messages, here's one for you - I'm Chinese. I live in an Asian country. I live in an Asian country which quite a lot of people think is some part of China. I have not eaten a fortune cookie. (At least, for a couple of years.) I find this highly ironic and quite amusing.

---

Today, I slept on my hand and when I woke up it was asleep. I proceeded to slap myself in the face to see if I could feel it. I then remembered it wasn't my face that was numb. MLIA

Lights

Today was an odd day.
Woke up reasonably early, decided to do work, switched on the computer.
Spent 2 hours frittering away surfing random things on the Internet.

The amazing thing about the interblag is that it continually throws you things to be fascinated in.
Although I hate to brag, I think I'm a fine example - I don't follow bands, I hardly game (I suck at it, alright?), I had no idea what happened at Taylor Swift's award winning ceremony until I was told it later in real life, believe it or not - and yet I manage to find enough to get me distracted.

The internet is a wild and wonderful place - be careful not to be attacked and eaten by internet wolves.
Quote from xkcd, one of my distractions. Speaking of which...
---

Kai-san got discharged, whoot~
Welcome back Kai-san. It's not been the same without you...

On that note, all the best to HT's grandmother.
Wishing her a speedy recovery...

---
Either you lack basic manners
I think has gone on too long.
...or you are trying to act like a jackass.
Use your brains, I know you're well capable of it.
Please prove me right, for once, thank you very much.
You can stop acting like a jackass now, if you're asking.
I don't even know why I wrote this.
You probably don't even know this blog exists.

Forgive me, readers, I wanted to vent a little.
Yes, isn't it. Impertinence - how annoying.

--

I guess I take some time to get charged up.
That's why I prefer to let people speak first, if you will.
People get high on sugar, caffeine... (wait, I do too), but I also get high on tearing arguments apart (or in general, venting).

And after this post, I'm charged up to tackle some work.
I guess that's one way of doing things.

Good luck to us all...
And in your busy schedules, do remember to tag, kthx.

Speed

When working outside of home, my computer's speed suddenly increases substantially. I can almost literally see the difference. This led to my job - yes, job, sigh - being completed very, very quickly. Faster than I would have imagined.

Even laptops like to get out of the house now and then.

---

Was working on this late last night through early this morning (say 9.30pm to 4.30am on the same thing). About midnight, I was feeling really sleepy, so I went and got a lollipop because I reasoned that it would give me a sugar rush. And, also I was pretty hungry.

Twenty minutes later I was pretty much awake, and kept so until 4am. Awesome.

Then, coupled with today's diet of biscuits, tea, and crushed peanuts, I think I'm going to remain hyper for an hour or so. Already it's wearing down, but it's a nice kind of tiredness, the real kind of rest.

Ah hahaha finally maybe tonight I will be able to get some sleep.
Am in a rather good mood right now.

On a seperate note, am too light-headed to come up with any witty commentary on the society of today (not like you see it very often, anyway), so I hope you guys would bear with me for now.

---

Was reading something when the Library's Founder took it into his mind to lift me bodily off my feet. Not only that, to carry me like a bride (almost lying down in his arms). So he scooped me up and held me in the aforementioned position, much to the gawking and what-the-crap looks of people around.

I carried on reading.

It was pretty epic, we travelled around for a minute or so, before he tried to seat me on top of a dustbin dome. After a couple of tries, I managed to get a firm seat, but finished my reading material so I hopped off the dustbin to return it.

Heh, weird day today.

Alcohol

Recently, Mokfai lamented that there were no original submissions on MLIA, and that all of them were talking about either Harry Potter or something else, I forget. So today, instead of doing work, I went on MLIA for 20minutes.

To save you the trouble, here are some of my findings.

Today, I went to McDonalds and saw a vacuum cleaner chained to the bike rack. Never have I had so many questions. MLIA

Today, my mom called me a "son of a bitch". I laughed at the irony. She didn't get it. MLIA

Today at school I saw a filing cabinet with a drawer labeled LIVE PENGUINS: DON'T OPEN. Never have I been more curious. MLIA.

Today, I had Chinese food while wearing an 'I Heart NY' t-shirt. While eating my fortune cookie, I saw it was made in New York. I then checked the tag on my shirt to learn it was made in China. I laughed at the irony. MLIA

Today, I was feeding my cat when he tried to bite my hand. I told him "Don't bite the hand that feeds you." He bit my other hand. At least he listened to me. MLIA

Today, I looked at the tag inside my lunch box and saw that it was made in China by a company called California Innovations Inc., which is located in Toronto, Canada. I've never been so confused. MLIA.

Today, I opened my honors calculus book for the first time. It comes with a cd to study from with a giant sticker on the front. Instead of the sticker saying "OPEN ME," mine said "OBEY ME." I am mildly afraid of my calculus textbook now. MLIA

Today, I dreaded going to my eight o'clock Chemistry class. After I got there, the professor walked in, sprayed alcohol all over the desk, and lit it on fire. Needless to say, I am encouraged to show up Wednesday. MLIA

Sneeze

Whoever you are, wherever you are, thank you for thinking about me so much.
Was sneezing continually yesterday, thank you very much...
Maybe I'll get around to bringing a jacket...

Ironically, I got better after a visit to the hospital.

All the best, Kai-san! Ganbatte, and I'll see you soon....
And this time, I'll bring a kiwi, too. (Or something edible, at the very least.)
Jiayou~

And posting now, of all times? Tsk. Back to work.

---

If I had blogged two hours ago, I'd probably have written a scathing post.
But anger dissolves over time, and so yeah.

Strange how anger temporarily ruins an otherwise okay relationship, and for that few moments or minutes there's nothing wrong with that.
Not just me, I'm sure. Many of the people I know - in fact, I know for sure one such event just happened a couple of days back.

And unhappily enough, there are too many of us who keep this anger (or imagined hate?) against another, although on the surface all may seem calm. Worse still, this is often replicated by the other party, and so you get two people who are as willing to come into contact with each other as like poles of a magnet.

Force them, and it'll probably happen - let go, and they'll bounce away from each other explosively.

A reason to bear a long-lasting grudge has to be something big indeed - judge it first and see if it is deemed worthy of your grudge, if you'd prefer to see it that way. In other words, I myself have not found someone guilty of something so great that I'd remember it and seethe at it everytime I thought about the guy.

Look, in the end, the things which we bear grudges about, more often than not, they are things at which we will look back 10 years later and laugh - if you could.

Those that are not - well, those are called vendettas.

And if I have done anything to incur your wrath or hate (of either kind), justified or not, I apologize.

I dunno, it could be my naivete again. But still.
It works for me.
Break me out of it if you can.

Numb

Fell asleep today sitting up, hands crossed on knees.
Woke up twenty minutes later.

In one sense that was already awesome because I have a tendency not to wake up so quickly.
When I sleep, I wake up hours later, usually next morning.
The second thing was that my legs were fricking numb.

I've become so numb...

---

Had my first real-job experience, if you will, in this department.
Odd, really - I've only had real-job experience in two departments, from two totally different and seperate aspects of my life - and these two departments are intrinsically linked.

On that note, it wasn't really much - discipline was sorely lacking in comparison to what a real job would demand, but I think everyone had fun yup =D
And in the end, it turned out pretty okay...

Wound up lugging a flight case a third my height and a similiarly-huge tripod bag.
Whoo this feels like two, three years ago.
Those times were fun.

---

Went out today, to shop with friends.
In the end, wound up rushing and breaking a sweat, while nothing really happened.
Still, it was worth it. Wound up spending an hour reading in Kino with Steo, awesome.
Not only was the book quite interesting (and I haven't read in a while), I haven't really met Steo in quite a long while.

But suffice to say that shopping is definitely not one of my strong points. I'm sorry.

People usually see an entire building full of subtle varieties and competitive prices.
I see 200 clothes shops.

Maybe one day I'll develop a more discriminating eye for these issues.
Maybe not.
Oh well.

---

Speaking of which, I tend to get distracted a lot nowadays.
Sigh.

Back to work.
But first, dinner.
Whoo.

Incoherence.

Tag please.
