Repurposed

So I'm going to use this site to record down my dreams; so that in the future when something catastrophic happens people might chance upon this old archives and conclude either a) I had prophetic visions or b) was responsible for all that mess.

And also because I heard that doing this helps increase the chances of lucid dreaming. I'm self-interested, alright?

Been having a lot of interesting conversations recently, on all topics from philosophers long dead and buried to current affairs to personal relationships. Saw for the first time in a long time the acronym LGBTQA and marveled at the stratification and disenfranchising of groups within a disenfranchised group.

And now for something completely different.

08 August 2013
In this place, we're all wearing suits. I'm with [Tim]. We work together. Apparently we're teachers of some sort, though we look exactly the same, and as young as we do in real life (hint: quite young).

We're in a ballroom. It's large, with a high ceiling. There are lots of people there, some our friends (colleagues), mostly our charges. The dinner is ending, everyone is on their feet with their wineglasses. Cleaning crews are cleaning up and moving tables. A photographer is taking class photos for our colleagues and their classes as [Tim] and I stand by.

As the last class photographed moves off, a class hidden at the back calls out to me to get a photo. I am pleasantly surprised, and relieved to be wanted. They're arranged in a rectangle with the ridiculously small breadth facing the camera, so I tell them to rearrange themselves. While they're doing so, someone kicks a football from the far corner of the contingent. It's supposed to land on a table that the crew is moving, but as expected, it misses and crashes a lot of glasses.

There is laughter and the whole atmosphere, myself included, is more of laughter at the miss rather than concern about the damage.

As they shuffle into position, I rehearse mentally and deliver a friendly chide: what did they think this was, the Cirque du Soleil? As I speak the last words, I realise I know that it IS indeed a Cirque school, and so the question is deliberate.  Everyone laughs.

We get ready to take the photo.

Fragment

When I was in kindergarten, I overheard my teacher talking to her colleague. She had said: "Aiyah, when my kids [students] reach university, they'll have already forgotten about me."
Cheers, Ms Tan.
I can't remember much else about kindergarten, but this is a memory fragment that has followed me around for years. 勿忘师恩
