Easter and Birthday Celebrations

Easter and my and David's birthday were a day apart, so the whole weekend was a celebration. First we dyed Easter Eggs. I left them in a little too long and several of them cracked. Fine for boiled eggs to eat, but not to dye :( 

Eventually we dyed the few that were good.

Originally Kristy and her family were supposed to spend Easter with us, but that was no longer an option. 

The Easter bunny left some baskets for the kids.

Allison pretty much ate chocolate and candy all morning long.

That afternoon we did an Easter Egg Hunt.

Easter morning we had creamed eggs on toast, and I gave the girls matching dresses for Easter. Allison wanted to put hers on top of her pajamas!

After I took her pajamas off she didn't want to wear the dress anymore.  Eventually we convinced her to put it on, and I got a few pictures.

She still wasn't happy though.

Since Monday was going to be busy we decided to celebrate our birthdays on Sunday evening. So we opened presents.

On Monday David requested Papa Murphy's pizza for dinner. Mt friend Shannon brought by some delicious cheesecake, and we chatted for a while (6 ft apart). Kristy called and sang "Happy Birthday" to me, which I appreciated since I would miss hearing my dad sing it this year. It was a great birthday weekend.  David is now officially an adult and I am 43.

Melanie's Christmas Program, Stake Nativity Performance

I don't recall much except shopping on Monday morning. That night we went to the "Journey to Bethlehem" event at the Nazarene church. We reserved tickets a few weeks earlier. It's a pretty cool event. A great FHE activity.  I didn't take any pictures though. We had piano lessons on Tuesday. After I stopped by the library, I got stuck behind these lighted trucks on my way to pick up Amy.

That night I had a Stake Nativity practice. I brought Amy with me to take care of Allison while I practiced. Unfortunately I got the times mixed up and I was there too early. So we waited and finally got to practice.

Thursday I helped in Melanie's class, and then that night I got dinner ready, fed Allison, and then left for the Stake Nativity Performance. I was sad that I would have to miss Melanie's Kindergarten Christmas Music Program. Aaron was an awesome dad and took all of the girls to see Melanie perform. He even took pictures!

Since my song was the third in the program, I got to see the first two, and then sang our song, and then grabbed my things on the way down from the stand and headed to the car. I drove home. Aaron had put her down for bed already, but I was there when she woke up to feed her. It worked perfectly!

Friday I think Aaron went duck hunting. I don't remember. That night was a the band-a-thon. It's the band fundraiser where they stay up and play music for 24 hours straight. The band members take turns playing. They start at 7:00pm Friday and go until 7:00 pm Saturday. So David and Timothy were at the high school, and Aaron and I brought everyone else to the Stake Nativity for the second performance. They got to see the Creche Exhibit, while I ran through the song a couple of times with the group. This time I got to see the whole performance. It was wonderful!

Unfortunately the kids were not behaving for Aaron. He was definitely ready to leave, so we grabbed some cookies and headed home. I noticed Melanie's eyes were bloodshot and getting goopy- no fun! She coughed the whole way home. She coughed all night. With the boys not home, Amy wanted to stay up and watch a movie with me, so I obliged.  Aaron had volunteered to make pulled pork for the band-a-thon dinner on Saturday, so he started that in the early morning hours.
