The Latest Report from the Doctors

Well, I had another doctors appointment today. Last week I was 1 cm dialated and 40% effaced. Today, I was 1 1/2 cm dialated, and 60% effaced.

The doctor says everything is looking really good. The baby is healthy, but it will probably be another week. He also says if I haven't had the baby by my next appointment (on Thursday, three days past my due date), we may need to talk about inducing. But, he feels pretty confident that I will deliver naturally. Sigh. I am ready NOW!!!

For those who don't remember I am due on Monday, October 3rd.

Our Weekend Visitors

This weekend we had Jared's sister Angela, her husband Ryan, and their two kids Kathleen (3 years) and Brandon (1 1/2) in town. We didn't do much, but it sure was nice to see them again. Jared and Ang have been really close all their life. When Jared and I first got married Ang and Ryan were living in the same town as us, so we did a lot with them. Now they live in Boise, Idaho, so we don't see them nearly as much as we would like. Here is a picture of all of us.

My Europe Scrapbook (so far)

Well, this is for you MaryRuth. For those of you who don't know MaryRuth, she is one of my dearest friends, and the biggest scrapbooking advocate I have ever met. She has been trying for years to get me to scrapbook, and since I moved to Utah, I finally started. I already posted my first scrapbook page of my sisters, but this is going to be what I have gotten done so far on my Europe scrapbook. The pages are 8x8 size (not the full 12x12), but you get the idea. In order to create the "album" feel, I selected a group of papers, and use the same color scheme throughout. Enjoy...

The nursery is done!

Well, with one week until the baby is to come, I finally have everything for the nursery. This past week my mom came down and we did all the last bits of baby shopping.

I wanted to get a changing table though, and they were $120 and I didn't want to spend that much. So instead I bought a dresser ($35) and a changing pad ($15), and painted it to match my nursery. I didn't like the handles the came on the dresser, so I replaced them with shoe laces.

I have included a picture. You can see my Winnie the Pooh puzzle on the wall, and the Winnie the Pooh hamper (thanks Denise).

Everything in my nursery is white right now (I live in an apartment and can't paint the walls). I wanted to add color to it, so I added it to the drawers. I think it turned out fun, let me know what you think....

The new bed

So yesterday we got a new bed! Yea. My uncle Al had an extra Queen sized bed, that he was wiling to sell us at a very reasonable price (thanks Al). So we had his daughter Alicia bring it down to us from Logan (thanks Alicia). Now we have an extra bed. I am really glad, because when the baby is born, my mom was going to come and stay with us for a week. I didn't feel right having her sleep on the air mattress we usually use for guests, so I had been trying to figure out what to do. I had finally decided we would have to just borrow a bed from my parents temporarily. When I mentioned that to my mom, she told me of Al's extra bed. After a few phone calls, I had it all set-up for us to buy. So now we have it. Yea!

The only thing is, our guest bedroom has all of my husbands dragon puzzles up in it, but the bed spread is flowers. So you get an eclectic guest bedroom (see picture below). But I am just so glad to have one.

I spent all day yesterday moving the beds around (taking the one we were using and moving it to the guest room, then setting up our new mattress in our room). I made Jared really mad at me for moving beds around when I am 8 1/2 months pregnant, but, who else is going to do it?

And because I know you are all dying to see it, here is our nursery. We are doing a "Winnie the Pooh" theme. Not so much because we chose it, although we do love it. But the crib and bedding were free (thanks Joanne). So we figured we would go with it. I then bought two Winnie the Pooh puzzles, and finished those, and hung those in the nursery.

Baby Wash (aka Shower)

Well, today I had my first Baby Shower (but my little 5 year old cousin, was so excited because he got to go to a Baby Wash, so I'm calling it a Baby Wash). I had so much fun. My sisters did a great job planning it.

We did a little game, where they took a baby picture of me, and a baby picture of Jared and cut each feature into strips. Then the party guest got to "make the baby". They took each feature and pieced together how our baby would look. So they started with the forehead, then the eyes, the nose, the mouth, and the chin. It turned out really cute.

Then we opened gifts. I got so many cute, cute gifts. It is getting me so excited to have the baby. Here are a couple of pictures from the Wash.

My first scrapbook page

Well, my friend MaryRuth will be so proud of me for this one. She has been trying to get me to scrapbook for over two years now. The problem is, I don't take pictures. Jared and I have been married for 4 1/2 years now, and we are still on our second roll of film (we might have finished that if I hadn't lost my camera). Luckily, when we moved to Utah, my sister Emily e-mailed me some digital pictures she took. So with those I created my first digital scrapbook page of all my sisters.
We are all so cute! Since then I have been working on putting together an album of my trip to Europe. I already have 9 pages done (and probably 15 to go). The past few days I have spent most of my time creating scrapbook pages, but this one is still my favorite. Here's to cute sisters....

Pregnant Picture

Alright Ang, this is for you. I had Jared take a side picture of me just for you. We got a really shoddy digital camera for free from Comcast when we signed up for service here. We basically got what we paid for it (nothing). But I find it works (basically). It isn't very high quality, but it get's the point across.

We also just got back from the Doctors office. He says that although my due date is in two and a half weeks, it doesn't look like I will be delivering any time soon (sigh). Apparently, I am still as closed up as can be. I guess the baby is going to be as stubborn as his parents are...

My First Post

Hello all!

Well, this blogging thing seems to have become really popular with everyone I know, so I thought I better get with it and start my family a blog site. (Stay tuned for more developments of the baby's upcoming birth).

A quick update for those who are really out of date, Jared and I have moved from Washington state to Utah. We are expecting our first child (a little boy) in less than three weeks (can you say freaking out!!!). But things are going well with the pregnancy. The doctor says things look great!

I don't have any current (cute) pictures of me. So, sorry to all those dying to see a fat (8 1/2 months pregnant) Heidi. Since I am not working, I don't have a lot of exciting things going on in my life right now. So I will end it here.
