Hi Kids,
Hi Kids,
I love my dentist. No, really, I love him, everyone that works in his office, and his practice as a whole. Let me tell you why...
To start, his office is in an old, one-story, plain ole' white brick building, and when you walk through the front door, you're surrounded by a very swanky office. Not swanky in a snotty sense, but swanky in a very contemporary and sleek way. After checking in, you're taken back into the "Zen Room," to relax before your cleaning with a drink of your choice (coffee, tea, water, etc.). The picture at the left is from my massage chair in the Zen Room looking toward the door. There are three massage chairs in the room, a small fountain, and candles. Very chill. After about 10 minutes in the chair, one of the dental assistants comes to get you. At this point you receive your parrafin hand wax treatment with mitts and all, and are then escorted to the exam room.
Once you're seated (while you've still got the wax on your hands and in the warm mitts) you receive your warm or cool aromoatherapy eye mask to enjoy during your cleaning. I'll spare the details of the cleaning, except for the fact that they use an ultrasonic tool that is totally gentle, and no scraping is required!!! (This is great except if you're Auri, and you're disappointed by this?!) When the cleaning is done, Dr. Graham comes in, pokes around in your mouth for a minute, checks your x-rays, and heads out. (He's an absolute doll!!!) His best quality? He actually removes his hands and instruments from your mouth so you can talk if he asks you a question! After everything is done, one of the assistants comes back in and gives you a facial and neck massage, followed up with a hot towel. No, I'm not making this up. Let me know, and I'll give you his number!
So yeah, I love my dentist. He's awesome. And except for the fact that I have to get a couple of cavities filled in two weeks, I can't wait 'til I see him again! Sadly, if you have to have work done, you don't get the special treatment. Maybe I can talk him into it?

Here is the second round of bridal makeup photos from a few years back.
This is Natalie in the picture above. This pic was taken back in the Fall of 2005, if I remember correctly. The picture was taken by her soon-to-be-sister-in-law Meghan, who I might add, is amazing. She actually took family pictures for my family a month or two later. The shot was taken at the SLC Library and Meghan happened to catch this shot as the wind blew up behind Natalie and poofed her veil. One of my favorite pics ever!

Well, there's the second set of posts. Hope you like them. Give me some feedback... I love to hear what you have to say!

***Make sure you scroll all the way down... there are three posts total from today!!!***
And finally, we have a picture of Natalie in the "after" shot for her bridal makeup run-through. I'm obviously really bad at remembering to get "before" shots of my models!

**I've decided to post some pictures from weddings, parties, and other events I've done makeup for. This is the first one. **
This first picture is her "before." Keep in mind she has her lip liner tattooed on. Isn't she lucky?Posted by Ms. Salti at 10:07 PM 0 comments

On Saturday afternoon I did makeup for Cassi's bridal pictures. This first picture is the "before" and the following two are the "afters." I went with brown tones because her wedding dress is actually red and ivory. Let me know what you think.

Auri and I took a little trip up to Park City last Thursday night. She wanted to go to The Childrens' Place store at the outlets, so we decided to go Thursday after work. We were going to take the boys with us, but at the last minute, Aidan opted to stay home. Aurs, Tristan and myself hopped in her car (The Piolotta) and headed up Parley's Canyon (I was driving). We shopped at the store and found a bunch of great deals. Can we say clothing for $2.49 a piece? She got a bunch of stuff for the kids... pants for Tristan, jammies for Aidan, and shoes for Taryn. I got each of them something as well, because really, I can't pass up a good bargain!
After shopping, we decided to grab some dinner and thought we'd head up to Main Street to grab some food (and possibly see some celebs at Sundance). Before we did that, we drove around the Red Stone shopping center to see if any of the eating establishments in there sounded enticing. Once we got up to Main Street, parking was very limited, and the parking garage wanted $20 to park!!! We couldn't find any parking on the street, so we opted to head back to the Red Stone shopping center to eat. On our way out, we saw Squatter's Brewery (which is in the old Mt. Aire Cafe) and decided to stop in there for dinner. The food was good and the atmosphere was nice as well.
The reason for this post is in the pictures you see here. Once we got seated, I had to tinkle, so naturally I went to the potty. After I finished my business, I stood up to flush and saw this on the top of the tank. I've seen the flusher on the top of the tank before, but this cracked me up. It's a "Waterwise Toilet" with a flusher that has two buttons. The button on the left is labled "#1" and underneath it, it says "Uses 1/2 a gallon of water." And on the right the button is labeled "#2". It took me just a second to figure out I had to "flush accordingly."
The other thing that cracked me up was the fact that there were two mens' rooms and one ladies' room. When I looked at the first mens' room door I saw this sign that says, "Standing Room Only." I don't know why, but I was very amused by their toilettes!

And here is my 2nd award, also from Just Jen. Funny thing, again... I got tagged a while back with this, but it wasn't an "award" at the time. Because I'm usually too honest, (which is a fault that makes it hard to keep the brick fence, moat filled with alligators and sharks, and other mean things, and 400-foot thick steel walls that I'm trying to surround myself with), I'm sharing more with you today. And keep readin', because this one's gonna be a doozy!
Here are the rules of the award:
1) Choose a minimum of 7 blogs that you find brilliant in content or design ....... 2) Show the 7 winners names and links on your blog, and leave a comment informing them that they were prized with "Honest Scrap." Well, there's no prize, but they can keep the nifty icon...... 3) List at least 10 honest things about yourself
Ok, here goes...
1. I'm really disheartened by the fact that I can no longer easily let people into my life/trust people
2. Today, eight years ago, I lost my virginity - yes, January 23rd, and I remembered it because the date was 1-2-3. I remember weird things like that.
3. I feel really lucky to be able to work from home one day a week - and most of the time, love my job
4. I wish I was making more money
5. I changed medications this week (for my depression) from Lexapro to Celexa, and I think the change is going to be good. Except for the fact that I've woken up at 5:30 AM every morning for the last 4 days. Meds are nothing new to me, just needed a change.
6. I kind of want a baby - kind of
7. I want to fall in love - more than I want a baby
8. Driving down Parley's Canyon last night was the worst driving experience of my life
9. I still sleep with my blankie - yes from when I was VERY little - and it has disintegrated. I tried to steal one of my "alternate blankies" back from Taryn last night and made her cry. (I felt bad, but I still want it back someday).
10. I am HORRIBLE at managing money
Again, I don't think I'm going to tag anyone, because I already tagged my friends once, and the rest of the blogs I read have already done this one! But please, comment as you wish about how crazy I am...

Wow, I'm so excited... I got two awards/tags yesterday from Just Jen over at Because I Could Never Keep Up With A Diary. The funny thing is, I kind of did my own version of this award back on the 9th. So, here is my 2nd version of my New Year Happiness...
Here are the rules. You must be a true lover of the New Year to receive this award. The person to whom you give the award must also be in love with the New Year. List 5 things that you love about the New Year. If you can't limit it to 5 things, then keep going till you run out of space. Pass the award along to as many people as you like. That can be 1 or 50. It's up to you! But keep the New Year cheer going. Let your recipients know that you have tagged them by leaving a comment on their site. Also, link back to the person who gave you the award.
**A fresh start**
**Looking forward to Spring and Summer - which means being in the sun**
**Getting to celebrate New Year's Eve with my friends**
**As of last week, changing some meds - more to come in the next post**
**Brittany & Paul's wedding**
**Getting out of debt and buying my first home**
In the interest of the fact that January is almost over, I'm not going to tag/award anyone because I kind of feel like the "newness" of the New Year has worn off. Maybe it's the crappy weather, I don't know. But, if you read this and want to take part, please do!

The other day I was reading one of the blogs I follow and noticed a cute little button on her sidebar that said "Pray for Harper." I thought it was cute, but didn't give it much thought. As I was reading down the page of her blog I came across an entry that said something like, "Prayers Needed," it piqued my curiousity, so I clicked on the link in the post to read more about this family. All I can say is that I've been glued to it and have had this family in my thoughts for the last few days. Let's just say I've had to fight back tears on more than one occasion. Mom's name is Kelly and she's got this cute blog called Kelly's Korner. She's this darling girl who has written about many parts of her life on her blog. Kelly shared everything about her pregnancy from the day she found out she was pregnant until she gave birth last week. The baby's name is Harper and she's gorgeous. The trouble is after she was born, she had a hard time breathing on her own (not sure of the exact diagnosis) and she ended up in NICU for some tests. I'm not sure what the consensus was but she had to be flown to the childrens' hospital (away from her poor Momma who just wanted to hold her) and has been there for the last week. I'll spare you the rest of the details and let you read her blog if you so choose. You can click on the link that says Kelly's Korner (here or above) and check out her blog. Y'all know I'm not a religious person, but this family has definitely been in my prayers!

No, this is not a double stroller or some kind of fabulous new stroller invention. Just a plain old stroller with a basket underneath to hold whatever it is that needs holding. Apparently, Aidan needed holding. Usually when Auri gets the stroller out, none of the kids want anything to do with it. Yesterday, they all wanted a ride. So, what you see here is Taryn in the seat and Aidan in the basket. Good thing he's so "yuttle" because otherwise, the basket wouldn't have held him. He and Taryn later switched spots. It was pretty hilarious watching her try to climb in and out of the basket. Let's just say she looked like a contortionist. And by the way, the picture was taken with my phone... pretty good, huh?

I've been trying to decide how to commemorate my momentus 200th post. Maybe the American Airlines flight that crashed into the Hudson River last week? Nah, old news. Everyone lived. Maybe something regarding the Palestinian/Israeli conflict that is directly affecting members of my extended family? Nah, too charged. Don't want to get into it right now. Oh, hey, I know... how about the fact that the air in the Salt Lake Valley has been deemed "Toxic" by the Utah Department of Environmental Quality? Yeah, that will work.
Take a look at the picture above. It kind of just looks like a smattering of grayness at the bottom of a mountain, right? Possibly taken at sunset? Well guess what? That's actually the view of downtown Salt Lake City, today. I promise, there's a city underneath all that crap. I've been there, I've seen it before. I don't think it went anywhere.... Technically, the situation is being called a "Red Air Quality Alert" but come on. You might as well be breathing exhaust strait from the tail pipe of your car at this point. There's probably a higher level of oxygen in that as compared to the air in the valley.
This picture was taken by Odum from the 16th floor of one of the high-rise buildings downtown.
So yes, with my lungs in the shape they're in after having pneumonia, outside is the last place I want to be. The fact that it's freezing helps me not want to go out... a lot. Well, here's to my 200th post, and a big toast to at least 200 more!Posted by Ms. Salti at 4:03 PM 7 comments
Since I neglected my blog for a few days, I'm playing catch up. I hope everyone is happy (Noelle)... hahaha... So, for my 199th post, Nikka Costa is my subject, and her new cd "Pebble To A Pearl" is my new obsession. If you need a good chill cd, something a little wild, yet bluesy and fun, this is your girl. But I found her first.
Remember when I mentioned my issue regarding new music and how I'm very apprehensive to listen to a new album from a favorite artist? Well, I had this problem again recently. Nikka Costa released her 3rd album (I think) in the fall and I bought it very shortly after it came out. I listened to it, decided there were a few songs I liked, and then kind of put it by the wayside and have only listened to those few songs I picked out a few months ago.
In the last week, I think I've listened to the album at least 20 times, maybe more... not kidding. I think it's one of those things where you have to listen to it a few times over, and then once you do, you get pulled in, and cannot, under any circumstance, remove it from your cd player in your car... yeah, that happens to me more often than I can account for. In any case, Nikka's new album is awesome. If you're already a fan and haven't heard it yet, hear it. If you have no idea who this wildy gorgeous woman is, look her up and give her a listen. I promise you won't be sorry. And, for the record, my favorite song on the new album is track 10, Damn I Said It First.Posted by Ms. Salti at 6:00 AM 0 comments

Wow, what a day! I started this post at the beginning of the day and was going to say a lot of things, but there isn't much left that hasn't already been said a gazillion times already. So, having said THAT, here's what I've got...
I am so proud today. I am so thankful to have witnessed this day in our history. I am so hopeful for what the future holds. I love that we are able to witness the love he and Michelle have for each other.
Now, a few random thoughts. The first dance between the President and Michelle was absolutely magical. Wow! After their first dance, they danced with a group of people on the stage... when that was done, President Obama (I just love typing that) went to grab a microphone. He spoke into it but it was obviously not turned on because he then started tapping it. I'm thinking that his thoughts at that moment were, "I'm the President now. Can someone turn on the effing mic?"

I had a movie marathon over the weekend. What else was I supposed to do? Auri worked like 100 hours so I didn't have anything else to do... ha ha ha, just kidding.
Auri, Brittany and I went to see Australia on Friday night. Let me just say this... if you want an epic, tear-jerking, absolutely fabulous movie, go see Australia. If not, then don't listen to me. We had to drive to the theater in BFE to see it because that was the only place it was playing, and I'm so glad we took the journey... totally worth it! The three of us bawled for the entire last hour. When it was over, through her sniffling, Britt said, "Yeah, that was good." I guess you had to be there.
On Sunday afternoon I went with Miss Rosie-Poo to see Last Chance Harvey. It was a movie I wanted to see, but it honestly wasn't on the top of my list. It's a really cute movie, but it moved a little too slowly for my liking. Oh well, for me, almost any movie seen in the theater is good. Seeing how I still can't get DVDs to play on my tube at home, I welcome anything I can get.
Finally, on Monday I went with Noelle to see Bride Wars. I'm a sucker for a chick-flick. At least I'm easily entertained, right? Aurs had said it wasn't a movie she'd pay to see in the theater, but I think if she had gone, she'd be pleasantly surprised. Anyway, I loved it. Totally cute. If you haven't seen it yet, go with a BFF. I went with one of mine and I know the experience would have been a bit less enjoyable had I gone with someone not as close. And, we decided, that Deb, who is played by Kristen Jonhston (she used to be on 3rd Rock) is our Rose... ha ha ha!

I had the pleasure of doing Brittany's makeup for her bridal pictures over the weekend, and not to toot my own horn (because it was so much more than just her makeup) but she looked absolutely gorgeous! She was going to have the pictures taken at the Salt Lake City Library, but because of the U of U parade, her photographer suggested going to Gardener Village. Other than the fact that it was really cold, the shoot went really well. I went with Britt, her mom and her sister and we had a great time.

And here we have the end of the Vegas recap... I left off at going to bed on Sunday night. The pictures below were taken before we got in bed.... The french fries we ordered from room service. Seriously, some of the best fries, ever! Here is a silly little picture of Odum and I around 2 o'clock in the morning. I think we were going on pure psychosis at this point because none of us had had more than eight or ten hours of sleep in the previous 48 hours (except for Odum b/c he had a nap while we were at "O").
Here's a pic of Aurs enjoying her chicken noodle soup. It's become a trend while in Vegas with us. I don't know if you can call it a trend, seeing how we've only been twice, but you catch my drift.
Ok, so, we got out of bed on Monday morning and made some plans. I wanted to go to Dillards to buy a purse (it's become a thing I do every year) and try to get some other shopping in. Auri wanted to stay at the hotel, take a bath, and have some "Mommy" time while we were gone. She doesn't get a lot of that, you know... Noelle, Rose, Odum and I got ready and headed out. Holly and Lisa stayed at the hotel to sleep and get ready to leave that afternoon.
The four of us grabbed coffee at the Starbucks in our hotel and took off for the mall. I found a great purse (aka suitcase/carryon) at Dillards, so naturally, I was a happy girl. We were all a little bummed because we didn't get all of the shopping on our list done. There was actually a lot we didn't get to, and we can't figure out why, we just ran out of time. (I will add a side note here: part of the reason we didn't get to everything was because I decided to meet Joe back at the hotel to hang out. Looking back, that was an hour or two that I wish wasn't wasted on him, but oh well, nothing I can do about it now.)After we were all packed, everyone had lunch at the restaurant downstairs and we headed for the airport. The traffic was a pain in the ass so we were cutting it close. After we dropped off the minivan, we checked in through the skycap with 40 minutes to spare before the plane took off. Thankfully we didn't have to wait in line at security or we would have been in big trouble. Sadly, the skycap didn't tell us that if we checked in less than 45 minutes before departure, there was no guarantee our bags would be on our plane. (Yeah, a few of us had to go back for luggage later).
