Last Weekend's Shenanigans

I've been trying to be better about blogging on a more regular basis. I haven't been as good as I hoped to be this week, but I'm working on it. I'm finding myself at a loss for blog topics, other than my weekly/weekend shenanigans. Oh well, at least they're entertaining and the pictures are fun to look at! Last Friday night I spent the evening with Rose, Noelle and Kasian after a failed attempt at a date. I'll blog about that later. (I don't know what I'm talking about that I don't have things to blog about... I think I just try and block some things out of my mind... with good reasaon.) I met Rose and Noelle over at Bombay House and then Kasian joined us shortly after we were seated. Can I say that was possibly the longest wait EVER!? Over an hour, maybe an hour an a half! At least the food is good. Saturday night went a little more smoothly (after the "date" I had - I promise, I'll tell you all about it). There was a large group of us that met up at Setebello downtown for dinner. If you live in Salt Lake or ever decide to visit, you have to eat at this restaurant. Best pizza in the world! I think there ended up being 14 of us with our six degrees of separation being Lisa. After dinner we ended up over at the Bayou... big surprise, I know. We got a table fairly quickly and got a couple rounds of drinks. Good stuff, Maynard! Tomorrow night I'm having a party with some friends in town from New York and all my girls. I'm so excited! You can be sure I'll be blogging about that next week! Hope you all have a fabulous Friday and I'll see you soon!

I'm Addicted To Craig

Most of you know that I'm a big Craig Ferguson fan. In fact, I feel like my night hasn't ended properly if I don't at least get to see his monologue. This poses a problem for me most nights because he doesn't start until 11:37 PM... well after the time I should have gone to bed. But who am I kidding. If I'm in bed before midnight, it's a rarity.

Anyway, I love Craig... so much in fact, I'm watching him right now, and he actually inspired this post. His opening bit was one of his music videos. This time it was "Addicted to Love" by Robert Palmer. Craig and three of his sidekicks (one of which I think was the little person from LoveBoat) were dressed up as the ladies in black with pale faces, red lipstick very lethargically playing their guitars. Rosie O'Donnell played the part of Robert Palmer. I tried pulling up the video to share with you, but I don't think it's made its way to internetland yet. In any case, it was hilarious and you should try watching it sometime soon. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy the one above.

As a side note, I've spent about two hours cleaning the house today to get ready for the party tomorrow. I took the rug by the front door out to shake it and when I did, shit went flying everywhere. I was covered in dust and God knows what other crap. I brushed myself off and came inside to finish cleaning. As I'm sitting here typing I had a cleavage itch (don't pretend you don't get them) and as I reached down, I noticed I had a bunch of dirt and dust in my bra. I even found a little brown plastic something-or-other in there... that's probably what was causing the itching. Gross, I know. I just thought I'd share that with y'all.

Random Tuesdayness - I Missed Last Week Because I Thought It Was Tuesday On Wednesday

randomtuesdaySo yeah, it's Tuesday, and guess what? I didn't forget this week! Aren't you proud? I sure as hell hope so because I am! Being that it's Tuesday, you know what that means. You're getting a dose of random. Not that that's any different from what you normally get from me, but you know what I mean! Go talk to Keely if you want to play!Did I mention that after my near-death experience (in the plane that I thought was going down) I decided I needed to go to church? Well I did. I've had these urges before (it sounds like I'm talking about something really dirty, huh?) and every time I think about it, I think about going to the Cathedral. This is now starting to sound familiar. Yes, I think I did tell you about it. Anyway, I went with Jessica and Noelle to the Cathedral last week and the Newman Center on the U of U campus this week. I have to say, I think I prefer the services at the Cathedral.

My hands are so dry right now it feels like they're going to crack as I'm typing.

I made pasta with homemade marinara sauce tonight, as well as chocolate chip cookies. Those cookies are going to be the death of me. I started on them last night and realized I didn't have any flour... or baking sheets. So I had to put them on hold until today after I could go to the store.
I can't find my battery charger for my little pink camera and I'm pissed. I need to find it or buy a new one and I have a feeling that a new one is going to cost as much as buying a new camera. Damnit!

I really want to buy a purple iPod Nano... 16GB. I'm trying to control myself and save my money... pay off a doctor bill, save for some decorations for the house, you know, responsible stuff. But I REALLY want one! Oh well, I'll save up!

Rachel Maddow is on Letterman (yes, I'm starting this post Monday night and will finish in on Tuesday) and (yes, it's a rerun) I really like listening to what she has to say. She's very well-spoken and doesn't talk outta her ass. Weird, I know.

Working from home rocks, except it's really hard to find the motivation to get out of bed at a decent hour... unless I have a conference call scheduled. We won't discuss what time I got out of bed this morning.

I still need to finish the Vegas posts. My hell, those are going to be the death of me.

Auri and I are working on a second toy review post. Well, I should say she's done her part and I still need to do mine. I've been on my work computer though, and that's not kosher, so maybe I'll get it done tonight when I go over to visit. Good idea! Look for the post tomorrow or the next day over on her blog.
I really need to clean my house and have absolutely no desire to do so. I need to find some extra money to pay someone to do it for me. Or, maybe someone will offer to do it out of the kindness of their heart... anyone?

Ok, I guess that's it for now. Oh, I almost forgot... If you haven't already entered, make sure you get your comments in on the 500th post for a chance to win the giveaway. I'll be pulling the winner out of a hat sometime this week!

Happy Birthday, Shmodie!

Once again, I'm very tardy in my birthday wishes posts! Odum, aka my Gay Bunghole (don't ask, it's a long story) had a big birthday on the 18th and I want to wish him a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Odum, you've been such an amazing friend and I can't thank you enough for being there for me. I love you sooo much and can't wait to see what the next year brings!

By the way, when are we going to dinner?

Happy 30th Brittany Lou!

First off, I have to apologize for being so unbelievably late with this! Brittany's birthday was back on the 7th and I'm seriously belated in this post. It's not like I didn't talk to her or see her that weekend... therefore, you're getting the pictures from our celebration!On Friday night (two weeks ago), Kasian, Noelle and I took Britt out to dinner for her birthday. This was proposed so as to throw her off from the surprise that Paul was planning for Saturday. We had dinner at Citris Grill in Millcreek and Mary joined us. The food was great and we had some good laughs.

Instead of having dessert there, we opted for Gourmandise Bakery (otherwise known as The Bakery) in downtown Salt Lake. It's a full-fledged French patisserie and it has some great food.
Paul had planned for us all to meet up on Saturday night at Green Street to surprise Miss Britt. He reserved a big booth/table/area right off the dance floor for our group and we had a blast. I think Britt was surprised by all the people that showed up. I don't know, Britt, were you?
Everyone had a drink or two, we got some great pictures, like the one above, and a few of us got to catch up. I think we ended up having around 20 people join us at the bar and I think everyone had a really great time.
So, my dear Britt, I want to wish you (again) a very happy 30th birthday. I really hope you had a great birthday weekend. Who would've thought we'd meet at work in a very random situation?! I'm so happy we've become such good friends over the last few years. My life is a lot fuller because of you (and your cute hubby)!
I wish you a wonderful, happy, healthy, and fabulous 30th year and can't wait to celebrate the next one with you!

My 500th Post, Happy Birthday To My Blog and A Giveaway

I'm a horrible mother. I missed my blog's birthday. It was on the 1st. That's a good reason to celebrate, no? It's also time to celebrate because this is my 500th post! No, I'm not shitting you. I can't believe it, either.

I've only been blogging for 2 years and it seems like forever! In these last two years I have made some amazing friends with people in the blogging community and have learned so much about myself. I want to say THANKS to all my readers... I started this blog as an online journal for myself, and it's turned into so much more for me.

Sorry I haven't posted for a few days, but I've been waiting for the perfect time to post #500. I guess it's kind of fitting that it fall on a Random Tuesday, right!? So, forgive me, I'll be better the rest of this week.

And you wanna know what's really fabulous? I just realized it's Wednesday. I'm such an idiot. That's what happens when I travel in the middle of the week. I got to Alabama yesterday... Tuesday. I usually arrive on Monday. I'm special. You're getting a pseudo-RTT anyway.The picture above is from The Bayou on Saturday night. I had a major urge to go, so I rounded up all my peeps and we went. Good food, good beer, good friends. What more does a girl need?

This last weekend was so crazy. I came home from Montgomery on Friday and flew through Atlanta. My flight left Alabama at 6:10 AM, which meant I had to leave the hotel at 4, which meant I had to get up at 3:15, which is really like 2:15 at home. Why I didn't just stay up all night, I don't know. Mostly because without at least a nap, I probably would have had a breakdown. Considering the fact that the flight from Atlanta to Salt Lake was the worst flight I've ever been on, I prayed for the better part of an hour, and thought we were going to die, it's good I got a little bit of sleep!

Yeah, the flight was SO BAD that I ended up going to Mass at the Cathedral of the Madeline with Noelle and Jessica on Sunday. Me? Church? I know. Yes, the flight really WAS that bad. I think we're going to the services on the U of U campus this week so we'll see how that goes. Apparently they're two totally different experiences. I'm excited to check it out.

In the meantime, I had a coffee date with Mr. V on Saturday afternoon. I think it went well. We ended up talking for about three hours before I had to leave, so I'm taking that as a good sign. I like him, so we'll see where things go. He has kids and is busy with them, so hopefully we can see each other again soon.

So, guess what? I won the giveaway over on Jamie's blog, Oh How Lovely. The giveaway is from Tia at Clever Girl Goes Blog and her Etsy store Icing On The Hair. Go check it out. Her stuff is freaking adorable, and totally affordable! I can't wait until I get my cute clippies. I'll take pics of them when they arrive!

So, I'm in 'Bama this week and then I don't have to come back for at least two, if not three weeks... Yippee! And I think I'm going to get screwed out of my upcoming Medallion Status with Delta because miles aren't rolling over if you didn't already acquire some level of Medallion status by the end of 2009. LAME!!!

Last week I ate fried pickles for the first time, and this morning I'm having grits. I went to church on Sunday. What is this world coming to?
This sign is from Dreamland BBQ in Downtown Montgomery... I thought it was funny!

Did y'all know that New Moon comes out on DVD on March 20th!?!?!? And even better, Eclipse comes out on June 30th! I can't wait!

I've been trying to figure out something fabulous to do in celebration of my 500th post and decided I'm doing a giveaway. I mentioned before that I'm reading Eat Pray Love, right? If you don't recall, let me refresh your memory... I am reading Eat Pray Love... and I'm absolutely in awe of this book. It's amazing. It's exactly what I'm needing in my life right now and I love it. If y'all don't hear from me for a while it's because I've dropped everything and moved to Rome.

Anyway, I'm going to give away a copy of Eat Pray Love to one of my readers this week. Here are the ways you can get entries for the drawing:

Leave a comment on this post - 1 entry
If you don't already follow me, start following me as of today - 1 entry
Post about the giveaway on your blog (leave me a note so that I know you posted just in case I don't see it) - 1 entry
Tweet about the giveaway (and let me know) - 1 entry
Post a link on Facebook (and let me know) - 1 entry

I will do something fun in order to pick a winner at the end of the week (e.g., pick the winner out of a hat, use the randomizer thingy y'all have used before, or something else) and I'll vlog it or something so as to entertain you.

Hope you all have a fabulous rest of the week and I'll talk to you soon!

Last 5 songs on the ole iPod:
Foundations - Kate Nash
Shake It - Metro Station
Sex on Fire - Kings of Leon
Come On Get Higher - Matt Nathanson
Boom Boom Pow - Black Eyed Peas

P.S. I'll also make some mixed cds (as was suggested by a friend) with my favorite songs on them and send them to the first five people who are interested... just leave a comment telling me you want one!

Vegas - Round 2

I'm officially to the point where I'm not remembering details... DAMNIT! Oh well, let's get on with the story.

So we all headed over to Town Square shopping center and did a little damage at the MAC store. Let's just say that by the time we left, the bill was well over $500 (that was with my 40% off) and I got an email from my credit card company seeking to validate the charges!
Keep in mind, these pictures are in no specific order!
It's a good thing that two sets of us drove so that we had two cars... On the way over to the mall, the car I was riding in stopped at the Vegas sign and took a few pics. I think they turned out pretty cute. In all the times I've been to Vegas, this was the first time I had my picture taken at the sign!
Anyway, we were at the MAC store for at least two hours where Holly and Karen S. each got makeovers done. The rest of us just stocked up on supplies. The other girls headed out and checked out other stores while I waited there to check out. I also grabbed a few things at Sephora... it's truly my candy store!After the shopping extravaganza a couple people (Holly, Lisa, Odum) wanted nappy time before the show, so they headed back to the hotel. The rest of us headed out in search of more shopping, and it was off to the outlets we went. I think the rest of the girls found stuff, I didn't. I'm not much of an outlet fan.
Back at the hotel we decided to get ready to go out and grab some dinner before the show. It is amazing how long it takes 8 women and 1 gay man to prepare for an evening on the town!
A few of us who hadn't had dinner (me, Noelle, Rose, Karen, Kasian) were hungry (the others weren't because they had lunch before their nappy time) were starving so we ate in the restaurant in the hotel. Seriously, they make some good food!
Someone thought it would be cheaper than taking two cabs, and faster, to take a limo, so we all piled into one and hitched a ride back to the Wynn. The limo was kind of old and smelly, but whatever. It's over now, right!?
If you have a chance to see a show in Vegas, go see La Reve. It's amazing! I think I have some pics from after the show so I'll include those in the next post. The stage is a theater-in-the-round and there isn't a bad seat in the house. The acrobatics were amazing and had Odum and I gasping the whole time!
I'm gonna end here because it's late and I'm going to have to refer to my notes to remember the next part of the evening. I think it included grabbing two cabs (forget the limo again) over to Harrah's where we were planning to go to Carnaval Court. Odum, Lisa, Holly and Noelle ended up at The Paris... Karen, Kasian, Rose and I ended up getting dropped off in a driveway between Harrah's and O'Shea's that had no sidewalk access. Nice!
Notice the little pickle man on the right side of the bug... poor "little" guy!

Devastation

{Ok, so my 500th post wasn't posted yesterday, nor is this it. Due to some shuffling around of drafts, I think you'll be seeing #500 on Monday. But don't quote me on that. In any case, just know I haven't forgotten about it... and I'm still looking for something fabulous to do to commemorate it. And I'm still taking suggestions...}

That all being said, this post isn't about me. It's about the people of Haiti. And like Petra said, "Unless you have been living under a rock, you know that Haiti was rocked with a 7.0 earthquake on Tuesday that has caused incredible devastation, massive injuries and a death toll that is rising by the day."

This will likely be the photo I remeber most vividly from the disaster

CNN is saying, "Absolutely catastrophic situation looms in Haiti... People are without water, food, shelter... Hospitals collapsed; clinics can't handle load... Airport, sea port, roads closed; supplies sit." Here is a link to a slideshow if you'd like to look for yourself.

I have been watching CNN for hours on end while sitting in my hotel room the last few days. I can't seem to change the channel or even turn the TV off. Someone else mentioned on their blog today, or maybe it was Facebook, that she wanted to crawl through her TV screen and start helping where she could. I wish that was something I was able to do right at this moment. I guess I can start by giving money... and who knows, maybe I can hop on a plane down there during one of my off weeks and help out somehow. I'll have to see about some really cheap flights and maybe paddle over from Florida, but the possibilities are endless. Anybody with me?

And if you would like to donate, whether it be money, time or supplies, I suggest going through the Red Cross, only because there are so many scams out there. I guess you can also text "Haiti" to 90999 on your cell phone to donate $10, and it will be charged on your next bill... but don't quote me on that. I'm gonna give it a try.

This disaster has got me thinking about a few things. Here are a few of my thoughts on the situation...

Haiti is without a doubt, the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere. It floors me that this is the case when the country is sooo close in physical proximity to the US. I'm not saying the US should take it under its belt and fix everyting, I'm just saying the extremes amaze me. We are literally 700 miles away from the tip of Florida to Port-au-Prince. That's not very far at all. 700 miles separates one of the greatest powers in the world, and one of the poorest. Mind boggling.

My other thought is this... I have a hard time understanding how a government (and this is because I'm an American and I've never known any differently) doesn't institute laws and regulations to keep its citizens safe and cared for. We're seeing before and after pictures of the Presidential Palace and the ruins that remain, but most of the country was in ruins to begin with. If all of the buildings were in substandard conditions, why weren't efforts made to improve them? I know it's an issue of money, and the fact that the country has none, but it still makes me sad. Now the poorest of the poor are left with less than nothing and no means with which to rebuild.

And now I'm rambling on... so please just know this: My heart and thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by this disaster. I will do whatever I can within my means to help. I hope you will all do the same.

And Now This...

So I made an update to the post that went up yesterday morning saying I'd gotten an email from The Douche Lord late yesterday afternoon. Here is what has transpired since then... I'm done. I'm over it.

Him: Did I miss something? My cell phone is down until Thursday I sent you a message with my work cell and never heard from you. If you don't want to talk to me anymore just let me know please.

Me: Are you serious? I never got your message. I thought you didn't want to talk to me anymore...

Him: Very serious. My phone has been off since last thursday and I sent a message to people on here that didn't have my work cell and you were the only one I didn't hear from. :(

Me: blah blah blah (that's not what I said, but it's irrelevant)

Him: Well I sent that message late afternoon Thursday didn't hear from ya, no big deal. Didn't hear from you at all didn't know if I should take that as a hint or what.

There were a few emails in here where he gave me his work number, I told him I'd call him when I got in the car, he said to wait and he'd call me later. He sent one later saying he was putting his kids to bed and I was expecting him to call me after that. No call. Big surprise.

Me: I'm guessing you fell asleep or something. You can call me in the morning if you want, or just email me or whatever. I just want you to know that I really do like you and I think we have, or at least had, a pretty good connection. If you're still interested, I think we need to talk about a few things to clear the air.

Talk to you soon,

Erica

Him: The phone thing pissed me off T-mobile are a bunch of dicks. I have never been late before. I don't know, I sent you that message and I didn't hear anything from you thru any sort of media, email,facebook etc.. I do like you too but the last few days I have really been coming to the conclusion I really don't want to date anyone

Me: Like I said before, I didn't get anything from you letting me know your phone wasn't working, and after I sent you those texts on Friday, I took it as a hint. I think there's just been a major break in communication. You seem like you've been pulling away the last few weeks anyway. If you're not interested in seeing me anymore, that's fine, but just let me know. I don't want to play games.

Him: I don't wanna play games either . It has nothing to do with you. Your great and I do like you. I just don't think I'm in a place right now where I want to date. I hope you understand what Iam trying to say.

I haven't responded and don't plan to.

So now, I'm heartbroken one more time after getting my hopes up last night. What a fucker. To top it all off, I got back on to Plenty of Fish to make my profile active again and guess what, he's online! Doesn't want to date anyone right now, huh? Right.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Another update: I got another email from him after I posted this. Apparently he's been reading my blog.
Him: "douche lord" for being honest. It was YOU that didn't contact me . Thank You for helping me realize I made a great decision in this instance.
Me: I'm happy you see it that way.
So here's the thing... I feel like he's turning this all around to make me look like the bad guy. I never received any communication from him. I made that painfully clear in more than one email yesterday. I think what happened was that he saw the post, decided to email me and see what was going on, and THEN tell me that he's not interested. I don't get it. I'm so over it!
Random Tuesdayness - Just Took an Ambien, Got in the Hot Tub, Got Out of the Hot Tub Shortly Thereafter, and Now I'm Blogging
randomtuesdayOh yeah, and I'm eating a Kit Kat because some chocolate sounded good right about now. And typing Kit Kat made me think of that song, Tik Tok, or whatever the hell it is. I have to make a confession here and I'm sooo not proud of it. I like that song. Not the lyrics, or the chick who sings it, or the majority of what it entails, but I love the chorus. And I hate that I love it because, as a friend of mine once wrote (and I'm paraphrasing here), "You might get herpes just by listening to it." Yes, the chick is that skanky. What am I to do? If you wanna play the on crazy train, go talk to Keely.
I think I'm funnier when I blog on Ambien. Don't you? It's a hell of a lot more exciting for me! That is not to say I don't enjoy blogging when I'm totally awake, but you get what I mean.
This leads me to wonder... how many bloggers out there consume some sort of mind-altering substance before starting on the blogging journey for the night, or day... We've got lots of things to choose from: My personal favorite, Ambien before bed; a nice glass of wine, or shut-the-hell up, whichever you prefer; a cigarette containing some wacky tobacky; and a slew of any of a number of other items... these are just the ones I'm most familiar with. That's not to say I partake of them, I'm just familiar, that's all.
This is my little brother, Zak... some of you may know him. Anyway, I think he was either 2 or 3 in that picture and dressed up in my dad's cultural garb. Wasn't he cute? I wonder what the hell happened to him!
Did I mention any time in the past week that I'm going to be getting a new tattoo?! Well, I am. On the inside of my right ankle... a flower of some sort. Possibly a cross between a lotus and a hibiscus, which Noelle named, a Lobiscus. She's looking to get a Plubiscus which for those of you who haven't quite caught on to this, is a plumeria mixed with a hibiscus. I'm nervous but excited. I can't wait to get something with some color in it. The pic above is a bad one, but you get the gist of what I have now.
My mom just sent me a text to ask how everyone in Birmingham is doing. I said I didn't know because I'm in Montgomery. Ha! Speaking of Montgomery, I'm so done with this hotel. You have no idea. My room wasn't completely clean when I got into it. The cleaning lady didn't leave any soap, shampoo, conditioner, etc. She didn't leave an extra roll of toilet paper. She left a used bar of soap in the shower and she left the last guest's food (which thank God it was packaged) in the fridge. I am lobbying to change hotels for next week's stay. I'm over it.
This is about all I got tonight. I need to get to bed, and that takes some prep time... taking out the contacts, washing all the makeup off, brushing the teeth, applying lotion, applying eye cream, finding the glasses, etc.
So I'm signing off, my loves. I hope this was entertaining for y'all. My 500th post will be up on Wednesday... what kind of giveaway (that I can afford since I have no sponsors) would you like to see?
P.S. If you didn't read the update to my blog from Monday morning, go back and read it. I added a little addendum to the top of it. Let me know what you think...
Honesty? Really?
Update: I got an email via Facebook from him about an hour ago. He said his phone hasn't been working and he sent a message to everyone on Facebook to give them his work cell phone number. Obviously, I didn't get it. He said when he didn't hear back from me he figured I didn't want to talk to him anymore. I told him I thought the same thing on my end. What do I do?
Don't tell me that one of the most important things to you is honesty when you have no intention of being honest with me. How is it possible that you can be so absolutely complimentary toward me and tell me how much you like me, and then just stop communicting with me? Why did you feel it was necessary to reel me in and then dump me on the side of the road like it was just a game to you?
I absolutely fucking despise the fact that your actions, or lack thereof, have caused me so much grief. I hate the fact that someone else (read: you) had the power to affect my emotions the way you did. The only person in my life that should have that power is me, and me only. Not a piece of shit like you.
I am floored at your actions. I have no idea how you did a complete 180 after the connection we appeared to have. Apparently that was just me getting my hopes up, letting my guard down, and being a stupid girl who expected waaay too much from someone else. I thought you were different, but I was so very wrong. I thought you and I would be able to enjoy each others' company and see where things went, again, I was wrong.
All I know is that because of you, my opinion of men has once again taken another big hit. There are still the few I know that are actually good guys and would do anything for anybody. You and the rest of the assholes out there like you can kiss my ass.
I think I feel the worst about the fact that I could feel you pulling away two weeks ago and I tried so hard to keep things going. I should have listened to my instincts and walked away without so much as a backwards glance. It's the least I could have done for myself. It's more than you did for me in the short time I knew you.
The Swirlings Around in My Head
I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed, underwhelmed, emotional, closed off, loved, unloved and everything in between these days.
I started seeing someone and everything was pretty gung-ho in the beginning. Now I'm getting mixed signals from him and I'm not sure what to think.
I went over to my parents' house today to drop off the dog. I was helping them put away some of the Christmas decorations when they got into an arguement. It was then I realized how utterly happy I am that I have my own house and don't have to deal with crap like that anymore. Yeah, I'm 30 years old, but it still upsets me quite a bit to see or hear my parents fight. I went in the house, got my purse and said goodbye. I told my mom that I'm not coming over anymore. She responded by telling me to tell that to my dad. I let her know it was because of both of them and I'm hoping that simple statement got my point across. I'm pretty sure it upset her, but I'm not really that concerned at the moment.
I came home from my massage tonight and had every intention of chilling by myself. I really wanted to just curl up with my book and read for a few hours. Or blog and get some things off my chest. The thought of cleaning or doing things around the house crossed my mind, but didn't really hit a chord with me. So what did I do when I got home? I brought all the boxes in from the garage and go them emptied along with the few that were in the office. I really wanted to spend the night reading, but I'm beyond happy that I got all my shit put away!
I'm in the middle of reading Eat Pray Love and I'm really liking it. I'm not very far into it but I have half a mind to pack my shit and head to Italy. What could be better, really? I can't wait to see what the rest of the book has to offer. A little spiritual guidance, perhaps... or maybe a revelation of some sort. I'm not sure, we'll see what happens... I'll let you know how it goes.
Ok, enough venting for now. Ciao!
Tea Anyone?
It has become a semi-tradition to go to have Tea at around Christmas. This year my mom, my aunt Carrie, Janice, Aurelia and myself went to Tea at the Grand America. Noelle was supposed to join us but she had only been out of the hospital for two days at that point. Damnit! We missed her!
It's always a lot of fun to get dressed up and go to the swankiest hotel in town for tea. It kind of makes one feel regal and posh in a non-snooty sort of way. If you've never been, you should try it sometime. I know tea is a daily thing in the UK, but not here in the States... unfortunately!
We had an absolutely fabulous time. They served us little tea sandwiches, a scone with lemon curd and strawberry jelly, along with an array of mini desserts to try. I could have skipped the desserts altogether and just had more sandwiches, but oh well. Next time I'll make sure to eat lunch before I go... that way I won't be hungry when I leave.
I know this looks strange, but it's one of those flowering tea thingies. I can't remember what it's called, and sadly, this is the only decent picture my camera got... but it looks cool anyway!
My aunt Carrie was really sweet and brought everyone presents. I can't remember what everyone else got, but she gave me a really cute 3-ring recipe book with blank cards inside. There are plastic pages inside that each old four cards and I can't wait to start adding some fabulous recipes to it!
I can't wait to do tea again, and hopefully sometime soon. If anyone wants to go, just give me a holler. Maybe we can go explore some of the other places in the city that do tea?! Anyone? Call me!
