Random Conversations #19

This happened on a Saturday morning after Price had babysat while Rob and I were on our Friday night date.

Me: Hey, what is all this food doing in the playroom?
Lane: Oh, we had a party.
Eliza: Yeah! a PAR - TAY!!!!

Lane got these glasses at a 3D showing of Mosters V. Aliens. She popped out the lens and has been wearing them daily for the past week.

We had a great camp, just off of the water. We skipped rocks off of the shore, found some of the coolest rocks I have ever seen, we made a collection of rocks shaped like hearts (there were a surprising amount of those), the kids covered themselves in the mud and made mud balls. The only drawback? It was really windy. There were a few times in the afternoon I worried that Papa's really cool shade just might blow away. Then there was the hour or two during the night that if the wind would have caught our tent just right I am sure that we would have flown like a kite far far away but we made it through no problem. It wasn't until the next day that we realized we were staying on "Windy Hill." That might explain some things. In fact I am sure some things must have blown away and we just don't know what.

I think Eliza did a pretty good job, after all she did get the mascara on her top and bottom lashes.

Our Thorkelsons are moving away :(

We have been friends with the Rees and Markay for almost 20 years. We started having kids together and finished at nearly the same time. They have the kind of kids you want your kids to hang around with because your kids become better kids because they are around such good kids. You know what I mean?

We are so sad to see them go and extremely thankful that we were able to live by them at all. We decided to take one more camping trip with them before they get too busy packing up. They will be so missed.

Markay got up on her first time wake boarding. She is so cool! I wish I could have recorded her kids screaming for her, "Yeah, Mom!!!"

One sided conversations #1

We went camping at Lake Roosevelt this past weekend. Eliza was so excited, she talked the entire two hour drive. All of the other kids where hypnotized by the movie and she was looking around and describing all the things she saw. Here are just a few of the things she said.

Eliza: I think I see the lake. (10 minutes away from our house.)

Eliza: Why did the chicken cross the road?
Me: why?
Eliza: Because he wanted to go to the lake.

Eliza: I think I can see the lake. (45 minutes from our house.)

Marley gave Eliza some lotion
Eliza: Is this for my hands of for my nose?

Sydney(pointing out the window): Liza look I can see the lake.
Eliza(rolling her eyes): Those are just mountains

Eliza: I think I can see the lake. (60 minutes from our house.)

Eliza(plugging her ears and speaking very loudly): Mom, hey mom, Maaa'am, mom, hey mom I can't hear you.

Eliza: Mom I need to see the map.

Eliza: Mom do you see the lake?
Me: I do.
Eliza: I knew I would see a lake.

The Warrens

Rob's sister Suzi and her family came to visit us for a week. I can't believe they were willing to leave beautiful Northern California to come to Phoenix for 7 days in June. I never said they weren't just a little crazy! ;)

Suzi and Jon have 5 kids who are tons of fun, have a lot of energy and are willing to try new things. A great combination!

We had a blast!!! We got to take them to church to show them off, which is always fun. We swam a lot, shopped a little, played at the lake, spent the day at Castles and Coasters, and went back to the lake for another day of fun.

They left this morning and we have been laying around all day trying to recover from all of the action. These are just a few of my favorite pictures of the week.
