Three Reasons

Here are three reasons out of many to why I'm not doing a long blog post this week!

Lilli decided she was ready to start potty training, she has been doing well, about a 50% batting average! We still have a ways to go...



Carmen is just so stinkin' cute! Believe it or not she really keeps me sane, she has this spirit about her that calms me down when I get frustrated with life!


Okay okay, my dishes problem is NOT this big..yet

It's okay, you can laugh out loud. :)

How not to go to a flyers game

So Wednesday one of Eric's friends at the dental school had a patient that had offered her some free tickets to the Flyers/ Red Wings game that night and she was trying to get a group together to go. Well of course Eric being a big red wings fan jumped at the chance. So she said she'd call when she had all the details.

At about 5:20 she called and said she hadn't gotten anyone else to go, but if we were still interested she would give Eric's number to the patient and we could get with him to get the tickets. He called at 5:45 and said he would be in Conshohocken in half an hour so we could get the tickets there.

Well according to google maps we could take an alternative route and get there in 25 minutes, haha! We left at at 6 and got there at 6:40, and we still had to take Lilli over to a babysitter (Thanks Mike and Anne!!) and get to the subway and get down there. And the game started at 7.

Fortunately Caralee is awesome :) and knows her way around, (better then google maps!) so we got back in about 20-25 minutes. Raced over to the subway, and surprise, the special stopped running at 6:15, and the express at 7. So we got on the local which stops on all 22 stations on the broad street line. It took FOREVER!! ahhh

So we finally made it to the game at 8, figuring that we would get maybe the last period of the game. But fortunately they were only a few minutes into the second period. So we got about 2/3 of the game in, which was nice considering all the running we had to do to get there. But it was free, so all worth it right?!

Yay! I love hockey. Unfortunately there were no good fights, darn pre season game. They were taking it way to easy. I guess we're just going to have to go to another game...

The Stew Tornado...

We had our good friend Ruby over to make some bread last week, we had so much fun we decided to start doing it every week. I have this awesome book called the bread bible and Eric told me I should do a marathon and make all 300 recipes in it, and make a blog about it. It's on my sidebar under sites we like to visit.

We love Ruby!


I left the lid off the flour bucket for the millionth time and I decided that instead of getting upset at the mess I should just take a picture and laugh it up.


Lilli enjoyed her Sunday dinner a little to much! She picked out all the veggies, but wasn't a big fan of the barley I'm thinking.



She managed to get a piece of barley on top of her head.




I was soo excited that Target got feet pajamas, I've been looking for some for Lilli for quite some time. She certainly loves them. I was amazed when I looked at this picture and realized how much Lilli looks like me! She still definately looks like Eric, but I think we've got a good mix going.

Lilli is such a tough little cookie, at her two year old appointment they did an initial screening for elevated lead, and it came back positive.:( I had to take her this morning for another blood test, this one out of her arm. The screening came from her big toe. She didn't even wiggle, she just watched the needle and said "ouch." I hope that the test comes back okay, wish us luck.



Eric is almost done sanding the floor of our spare room, it is looking really nice. You can see in the corner the little patch that isn't done yet to compare! We almost have the wall built back up in the shower so we can re-attach the tiles. Eric has been using his dremel tool to remove the grout so he can replace it all.



I am also working on de junking some more. I've been holding on to all these jeans for several years and finally decided it was time to cut them and make two jean quilts for Lilli and Carmen.

And last but not least...


Our little Carmen is sleeping through the night! It's amazing how much better I have felt since I don't have to get up at 3 am anymore. I'm not quite sure her little tummy was ready though, because she wakes up just starving and it takes her all day to get caught up. But I don't mind feeding every two hours during the day. She is such a sweet baby, we love her.

Happy Birthday Lilli!

Wow, Lilli is 2, I can hardly believe it!


What a silly girl, she played with her birthday presents for about an hour, then returned to the old and familiar! I just went through a box of clothes that have been in a box for the last year because they were too big. I found these feet pajamas, and she LOVES them! She would wear them all day if I let her.

I have to laugh because I did the same thing this year as last, I didn't get started on the cake on time so it wasn't done before bedtime so we didn't have any until today. It's supposed to be in the shape of a purse, but it looks a little more like a little boat..oh well...my fault for using my own idea instead of the directions I had.


mmm, we made her spaghetti for dinner. It is hands down her favorite food (outside of frozen blueberries and raspberries).

Lilli is such a fun little girl to have around. We are so lucky to have her. She is a big help with Carmen and makes me laugh all the time.

Here's a cute little clip to enjoy. I had Carmen in my lap when I was playing this and she looked super happy and smiled as much as she possibly can! I think she must recognize my voice. I'll post a little video of Lilli too, she has the cutest way of saying "hello" and "daddy"

Home Stuff...

So apparently the previous owners did a plumbing project, the only problem was when they replaced the tile (lucky for us it's only about a third of the tub that looks a little nasty!)they did NOT do a good job. The soap dish finally gave way and so we decided it was time to re grout the unstable tiles. So Eric is going through the tub and finding all the loose tiles, along with scraping out the nasty looking previous job.

Funny story about the shower, the whole time we've lived here we just thought we had a plumbing problem because the cold water faucet on the tub was barely letting any out, I guess we just got used to really hot showers. Well the other day I mentioned to Eric that we should probably call a plumber. He had a thought, so he went and looked at the water pressure for the bathroom and sure enough, it had just been set to let out very little cold water. And we've been dealing with it for 2 years!! We had to laugh at the idea that we had even thought about calling a plumber..that would have been embarrassing...




Our garden is completely overflowing, it definately looks great. The marigolds add so much color. I haven't been on top of the herbs like I should have been so we've lost a lot of cilantro but I think I should be able to preserve a fair amount before the garden is done for the year. The squash got a really nasty looking disease of sorts (I can't remember what Eric called it) where all the leaves looked like they were growing mold or something, we googled the problem and it suggested spraying on 1 part milk and 3 parts water, it worked great!


I really like the purple plants behind the garden, so pretty!

It's ALIVE!!! Our cherry tomato plant turned out SOO awesome! We have been picking like crazy and it's still producing like crazy. Delicious! It has grown over the fence into our neighbors yard so we told them they were welcomed to as many as they wanted, I don't know if they have or not though...

Bed Hair and Blueberry Teeth

Lilli has this super fine hair just like Eric's I recently learned. Anyway she woke up yesterday morning with the most awesome bed hair I have ever seen on her so of course I had to share it. Unfortunately the little metal slinkie got stuck in it! I was relieved that she actually sat there for me to untangle the toy and comb her hair.

We had Lilli sleeping in just her diaper all summer just because her room would get really stuffy. Well now that it has cooled down she still prefers it. My Mom suggested silky pajamas, which I am going to get for her birthday this weekend...

This is the hat that Carmen brought home from the hospital, it's sad but it fits Lilli much better! It was always sliding over Carmen's eyes and upsetting her! Lilli actually put the hat on herself. Also take a close look at her teeth, we brush them every night..but those blueberries that she loves so much appear to be getting to her teeth!


Carmen is a curious little girl, she likes to look around and especially loves that snuggle time...but then so do I!
