Oh My!

Carmen loves pulling herself up into a standing position on anything she can find!

The fun of emptying any shelf within her reach...

Yup.
Oh and no picture, but this girl LOVES string cheese, and she just discovered the stairs..ahhh, the joys of an 11 month old!

The girls love Baby Einstein, they watch it three times a day. I don't mind at all, a little classical music is good for the soul :)

Hide and go seek...

Tour of Chestnut Hill and Abington, PA

A few months ago I started doing little tours of the area so we have pictures for the girls when they're older. (And of course for us as well!) Back then we thought we would be gone by now, but I can't complain cause I got a little more time to get it all done!

We have taken countless walks up and down the section of Germantown Avenue that is known as Chestnut Hill.

The cobblestone streets look super nice and I love that the majority of businesses are in houses.

This is where Lilli was born. Technically our only child born in Philadelphia. (Since Carmi was born in the suburbs) .

We sure spent a lot of time here coming and going from the NICU. Lilli was there for the first week of her life. (Up on that top floor)

Chestnut Hill is a very wealthy area with plenty of million dollar plus homes.

Not a rare sighting!

Our first summer here in 2007 when Eric had his two month break I was working so he took a lot of walks and this is one of the things he stumbled onto.

Check out the grass courts!

Another beautiful home.

A "not to rich" part of town...those rowhouses seem to sneak in all over!

A lush, green park...ahhh

And last of all....

Chestnut Hill closed their maternity department in 2008 so Carmen was born in Abington, PA.

It was about a twenty minute drive north of where we lived, up in Montgomery County.

It was HUGE! But I had a good experience there.

Life Happens

Eric was saying the other day that he wanted to write a book about his last three months of dental school. The title of the book would be "Something Went Wrong Everyday" which literally is true, sadly enough.

Things were actually going pretty well, it looked like we were going to make our deadline of June 30 in order for Eric to start his residency program on July 1st...and then of course something went wrong...
Punch #1:
Eric: So you ready to go over and pay for the crown
Patient: Welllll, a friend of mine had an inside scoop (on the lottery) and we were all going to make $1,000, so I gave her the $200 I had saved for you. But I didn't win anything and I totally don't understand why. (Yes, this really happened, the guy couldn't understand why he hadn't won)
Eric: In the corner trying to recover from the blow...

The next day, here comes Punch #2:
Eric's patient came in for a denture...oh wow...what could that be...a tooth had broken off...what...oh yes, the tooth needs extracted..oh...yeah...there's a 6-8 week wait after an extraction because it's considered a minor surgery...wouldn't want an infection....

Eric: Broken and bleeding on the ground as the ref pounds the mat...1....2....3....ahhh.

Goodbye Reading...and apartment deposit....and money for two months worth of rent we have to pay for an apartment we will never live in....just cause we had to break our lease...

It seems to strange after four years in Pennsylvania that we are actually leaving. A loong drive across the United States to Spokane, Washington...whenever we finish here! Hopefully that's going to be in the next 2-3 weeks.

I've been thinking the past couple of days about my life, and the fact that things have seriously never happened the way I expected. I know Heavenly Father has a plan for all of us. If it weren't for so many things not going my way throughout my life I would not be where I am now. I would have never met Eric, I wouldn't have met the close friends I made in Logan, Utah or Ephraim, Utah...All I know is that sometimes things change, and what may have been right for us 3 months ago is probably not so right now. Heavenly Father knows everything...he foresees everything in the future...and I know the day will come that we will thank him for sending us where he knew we needed to be.

Another Fun Comparison

Lilli

Carmi

It's always fun to compare. Of course they have a lot of differences, Lilli had been walking for several months when she was 11 months old and Carmi is happy to just crawl. But they sure have fun together and you can definitely tell they are sisters.

Surprise in the Garden

Last year we planted some bulbs that never came up(Apparently this variety didn't come up until the following year). We were very surprised a few weeks ago when these orange lily's came up. Eric saw the orange and guessed that I must have picked them out!

Lilli with the lily's!

Our cilantro came back too. Cool.

A Little Update

It's been awhile since I did a little update on the girls, so here it is!

Carmi is our little sweet happy girl. She is always happy and just makes our world a brighter place. She just got her 7th tooth and wasn't even really fussy while it was coming in. She is a little mover, she crawls really fast (especially when we're upstairs) and I'm always chasing after her for fear she will fall down the stairs. She has started pulling herself into a standing position on the furniture (I'm predicting she will start walking around her 1st birthday next month). She's still a lot bigger then Lilli was at this age, she will definitely meet the weight requirements to sit in a forward facing car seat when she turns 1. She says "dada" and "mama" but I don't think she quite knows what she's saying. She LOVES bread, I can give her a slice and it will keep her happy for quite some time.

Carmi and Great-Grandma Johns.
We were able to go and visit Eric's Maternal Grandmother when we were in Utah. We love her so much! We found out from her that Eric's Mom had a birth mark similar to Carmen's.

Lilli is still as busy as ever. She has progressed very quickly in her speech the last two or three weeks. Eric was telling me she turned to him yesterday at the beginning of sacrament meeting and said "I want cookies!" I had to laugh. She entertains Carmi all the time, (sometimes without intending)they are always laughing about something. Last night she fell off the couch and Carmen just started laughing, really hard! It was the funniest thing I've ever seen.

Saying Goodbye

In Loving Memory
Ronald Nelson Evans
April 27, 1992-May 22, 2010

June 2, 2007

April 27, 2010

Jeanne and Nelson May 19, 2010. Jeanne had been set apart as a missionary and was leaving for the MTC.

My Parents, Richard and Janae and Jaylee Wilkinson, Me, Amanda and Marvin.

There was a peace at the Mortuary that I can't describe.

Nelson was only his final project away from becoming and Eagle Scout.

Nelson's name was read at Seminary Graduation the day after he died.

His boots and a horseshoe he liked.

Richard, Janae, Jaylee, My parents, Amanda and Marvin.

Well it's hard to say goodbye and let go. And it's hard to see it end. When the memories we have made may never happen again. But it's harder for time to ever erase, the together times we've shared. So when we're apart remember, all the love we've shared together and for all this love thank the Lord above who showed us the way...
That we can be together forever someday. We will be together forever someday.

Five Years
