The Canyons

We spent the weekend up at The Canyons. It was nice to get away.

 We went to the Olympic Park and rode the Alpine Slide. Cannon and I also did the Adventure Course which means walking on ropes and cables two stories in the air and NOT freaking out about the height and danger. Easy peasy for Cannon. Me? I almost died.

 Last night Highland had their Homecoming Carnival. We had so much fun.

 There were bounce houses, a rock wall, games, music, and food.

Loss

This summer has been strange. A lot of sad moments. A friend was diagnosed with Lymphoma. Great Grandma died. A coworker was killed by a drunk driver. A family friend was diagnosed with ALS. So many fires. Many notable or famous people died. Another friend is losing a battle with Lymphoma. And little Zeke died. I surely have had enough bad news.

Poor Zeke got into some poison on Sunday while we were at Bear Lake. We don't know where because he was with us and never roamed free. It was awful. Our hearts are broken. He was only 3. We had a funeral and  buried him at the cabin. I know he was a dog, but we loved him! He was the best Chaweiner ever. He was so friendly. He couldn't walk by without giving a little lick. He loved to cuddle up and sit on laps. He was frisky and energetic. He really was our best friend.

Settled In

Ok, I think I have settled in to the school routine. It usually takes me about two weeks to rebalance me-time, work and homework, etc. Those weeks are usually a blur. I totally forgot we made homemade pop tarts! Easy as pie crust and jam!

 Fisher isn't really interested in practicing his letters, sounds, writing, etc. But, he does like to work on a project for a minute while Cannon does his homework.
