Hailee's Spring Dance

 

 

 

 

OK - does anyone else think my 13 year old looks WAY TOO grown up???? Hailee had her middle school Spring Dance last night. She and her friend Michelle went to 2 of their Sunday School teachers house to get ready with them (they did Hailee and Michelle's make-up for them). The girls came home looking too grown up and pretty for my liking though. They had a blast and luckily the girls and boys don't intermingle yet. I think Jason and I are in for trouble with boys with this girl. She is just SO beautiful!

Happy 9th Birthday Megan

Yesterday was my little Meggie's 9th birthday! Wow, how can she be that old already? She is such a sweet girl. She was an easy baby, tough toddler, and now easy again. What a great kid with a VERY strong desire to please and do what's right. She is amazingly artistic. Each student in the 3rd grade wrote and illustrated their own book and her's won as the best in the school. She is raising 25 chickens right now for the 4H show and is learning to love to ride horses. She is such a fun mix of tomboy and girly-girl. She is my petite little angel! She picked her favorite breakfast of crepes with strawberries, bananas, and whipped cream. She picked her favorite dinner of corn-bacon chowder. For her main present this year she wanted a digital camera and scrapbook set. Tomorrow is her birthday party at Achievers Gymnastics. Megan is a wonderful, helpful, sweet, sensitive, humorous girl. We are so VERY greatful for her!!!!

2nd Snow Day

The kids were out of school today and had another fun day in the snow. I am shocked at how much snow we have here in Texas. I do not remember there ever being this much. The kids tried to build a snowman but the snow was too powderey (is that a word?). Look at my hard-working kids trying to clear a walking path in the driveway. They are awesome! Mine and Jason's favorite thing about snow is the naked trees covered in snow. They are beautiful so we had to take a few pictures of them. Addi did not love the snow today since it was too deep for her to walk in. She would step in and her feet and legs would completely sink. Jason thinks there is a good foot today. Wow!!!

Wow have we got the snow! The kids only had a 2 hour delay in school today (whereas all schools around us were out) so we had to wait until after school got out to play in the snow. We had such a good time, but it was sure deep! Addi could barely walk in it. Jason thinks we have at least 9 inches out there right now. School is already cancelled for tomorrow and they are all excited for Jason to get out the go-kart and pull them around on sleds. They did use trash can lids today to slide down a dirt mound and made a "snow man" out of the feed buckets full of snow. What creative children! And you have to love Megan's outfit!

Volcano Climing

 

 

 

 

I was just able to get these off of Jason's camera. While we were in Guatemala, Jason, my dad, and Richie went and climbed an active volcano. They had a blast! They said the hike up was not easy but was so worth it. They were even able to roast marshmellows over the flowing lava. What a once in a lifetime experience!

Outdoor Ice-Skating

On our outdoor winter activity day we also took the kids outdoor ice-skating. This was Brady and Megan's first time ice-skating and all of their first times to do it outside. Again it was cold and snowing but that did not hinder us at all!

Sledding in the Snow

While on our ski trip we took a day to go and do other outdoor activities. There is an amazing sledding park called Carter Hill. It was snowing hard while we were here this year. It made for a cold, yet beautiful day! We also have found an amazing crepe place in Breckenridge. The kids wanted to go there twice this year.

Breckenridge Ski Trip

This is our kids third year skiing and boy are they getting good! They are going to pass me up soon. We went to Breckenridge over the Martin Luther King weekend and loved it! We skied 3 days and the kids were VERY comfortable on the blue/blacks this year. Brady even did a black that was complete moguls one day. The weather was perfect, warm and sunny 2 of the days and we got lots of snow on the last day. We would ski all day and then come home, hot tub, make dinner, and go out every night. These kids just wanted to go, go, go! The trip was so much fun and we can't wait for Addi to start in a few years so that we can all be together.
