November 26 - 30

Each day this week will be a short day because of Parent-Teacher Conferences.  Report cards will be handed out at the conferences.  With the beginning of a new trimester, we have some new goals we are working on.  I will give you a list of the Essential Math Standards for this trimester so that you know what we are hoping every child can do by February.  I am looking forward to meeting with each of you parents this week to discuss your child's progress!

November 19 - 20

This week, we will continue to have our regular reading and literacy groups in the morning, and we will have our math time each day.  We will also be participating in several holiday activities and projects.  We will practice and "perform" our readers' theater, as well.  It will be a busy, fun, and learning-filled week!  Have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with your families!

November 12 - 16

The 2nd Trimester is already here!  It's hard to believe we've been in school that long already!  This week, we will have a math practice test and review on Tuesday, with our unit 4 test on Wednesday.  Our Treasures literacy test for unit 2 will be on Thursday morning at 8:15 in the computer lab.  (It will be helpful to your children if they are at school on time and if they have had a good breakfast that morning and plenty of rest the night before.)  Besides the reviewing and testing we'll be doing this week, we will be getting ready for Thanksgiving with some fun crafts, story readings, and practice time for our readers' theater.  Looking forward to a great week!  

November 5 - 9

This is the last week of the first trimester!  Time is flying by!  This next couple of months will go quickly, too. We have two full, regular weeks this month.  Then, we have a short week for Thanksgiving break, followed by a week of short days for parent-teacher conferences.  After that, we all know how quickly December passes by (at least for us adults)!  I am committed to using every minute in class in a worthwhile way, so that we are accomplishing all that we can toward your child's educational growth.  I'd like to put in another plug for completing the homework every night -- that is for your children to read to you every night for 20 minutes or more.  This would include the baggy book, little purple or fairy tale books, flashcards, and any other reading your child does at home.  All of these minutes may be recorded on the reading log that comes home with the baggy book.  This 20 minutes of your help and attention at home can make a huge difference in your child's success in school this year and in the future!  Thanks for all of your support!
