Here are a few reminders for this week:
*April reading calendars and baggy books from the leveled library are due May 1. (I will still send home paper books in a baggy which students can read and bring back the next day for a new book. Students can fill out the yellow reading response paper each week to get a prize for their reading this month.)
*Our math practice test for Unit 11 will be given on Friday.
*Don't forget to visit the Book Fair this week!

April 22 - 26
Here are a few notes about what we're doing in class, as well as reminders about what is coming up:
*We have been learning about plants recently, and we planted some seeds last week which we will observe, discuss, and write about.
*This is our last full week of the month for reading baggy books. All leveled library books and the reading logs for April are due May 1.
*In class during these last few weeks of school, I'm putting more emphasis on neatly done assignments and quality work. We are reviewing handwriting each day. Now that the students are more able to complete assignments correctly, I would like them to see the value of also completing them well, rather than rushing through them to get done quickly. Thank you for your support in this effort.

April 15 - 19
This week, we will have a math practice test on Monday and the unit 10 test (addition, subtraction, and money) on Tuesday. We will begin our last unit in our Treasures literacy program. We will continue learning about plants, seeds, and soil this week, as well. On Thursday, we will have an assembly with Brandon Dorman, an illustrator who many of you will be familiar with as the one who illustrated Angel Randall's book, Snow Angels. Saturday is the kite festival in St. George, as well as the family party for Enterprise Elementary students at Sand Hollow Aquatic Center. There will be dinner provided for families at the aquatic center that night. I would encourage all of you to attend if possible . . . to celebrate your child's reading efforts this year!
April 8 - 12
This is our review week for literacy, so we will not have a spelling test or weekly literacy test. On Thursday morning at 8:15, we will have our Unit 5 literacy test in the computer lab. We want the students to have their best opportunity to show what they know on this test, so it will help if they are rested, well-fed, and feeling good that morning. We will begin our unit on plants this week by planting some seeds. It will be fun to observe their growth and learn about the needs of living things. I'm looking forward to a great week, and I hope all of you have one, as well!
