August 26 - 30

The first days of school are days filled with changes! The move from kindergarten to first grade is a big one! The amount of independence and personal responsibility expected from first graders is a little different from what they may have been used to previously.  The school day is longer and the school work gets more challenging as the students become more mature.  I realize that this transition time can be somewhat difficult at first.  Please be assured that I am doing my best to help the students to make a smooth transition. One of the things I try to let the students know is that I believe in them and know that they can grow and progress if they will try.  Your encouragement at home will also help them to have positive feelings about their capabilities and about school in general.  As you let them know that they are "big" enough now and that their progress is an exciting thing, they will more easily transition to this new adventure!  Thank you so much for your support of me and of your child's educational growth.

August 19 - 23

It has been a fun first few days of school!  You will begin to see more student work coming home this week as we finish some of our beginning of the year testing and samples.  We will continue our review of literacy skills this week and will officially begin our new math program.  I am enjoying getting to know your children and believe it's going to be a great year!
