October 27 - 31

     If you haven't already seen them, be looking this week for your children to bring home the checklists for math and language arts essential standards.  These checklists will tell you which of this trimester's basic standards your children have already passed off and which ones they are still working to master.  We will continue to work on these standards at school, but any help that you can give your children at home would be appreciated, as well.
     This is the last week of the month, and baggy book reading logs will be collected soon.  As a reminder, the homework goal is for each child to read at home for 20 minutes or more each school night, for a total of 400 minutes per month.  Prizes and incentives will be given each month for students who meet the goal.  Please encourage and help your child to read every day this week and to make up what is needed to meet the goal.  Thank you for all of your support!  

October 22 - 24

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Fall Break!  Now that we are back for a short week, we will be trying to fit all of our regular week's work into 3 days!  On top of that, it is Red Ribbon (Drug Prevention) Week!  Here is the schedule for the Red Ribbon events this week:
     ~Wednesday - Pajama Day
     ~Thursday - Crazy Hair and Sock Day
     ~Friday - Spirit Shirt (or Spirit Colors) and Mustache Day (mustaches will be provided)
                   - Drug Prevention grade-level presentations

October 13 - 17

Wednesday, October 29th is the deadline for students to turn in Reflections projects.  This is an arts contest, and the theme this year is "The World Would be a Better Place If . . .".  Students may enter projects in the following categories:  3-Dimensional Art, Dance Choreography, Film Production, Music Composition, Literature, Photography, and Visual Arts.  I would encourage everyone to create a project to enter in this contest.  It is a fun learning experience for the students, and it gives them an opportunity to shine as individuals as they share and develop their talents.  The rules, entry forms, and contest information is available at http://www.utahpta.org/reflections.

October 6 - 10

REMINDER: MONDAY, OCTOBER 6th IS AN EARLY-OUT DAY -- DISMISSAL AT 12:35.

~Monday, October 20th & Tuesday, October 21st -- Fall Break (no school)

~Tuesday, October 21st -- Reflections Fair (prepare for Reflections) -- 7 - 8 pm

~Wednesday, October 22 - Friday, October 24th -- Red Ribbon Week 

~Wednesday, October 29th -- Reflections Arts Contest Entries are due
