Christmas in Russellville

Since we didn’t get to go to Ft.Smith to see my dad on Christmas day, we went on Sunday afternoon.  Kyle got a stomach bug (one that had been passed around our whole family for the last two weeks) the night before so it was just me and the boys. 

Cole got a motorcycle as well as a ton of other toys!  I just knew that he was going to be SO excited and that he’d take off riding it immediately, but kids never act the way you want them or expect them to.  Cole loved the motorcycle, but after pushing on the pedal just once, he was a little scared of it.  We wanted him to take it outside so we could watch him ride it but it wasn’t going to happen.  He just climbed on and off being very careful to not push the pedal.  Notice that he’s still wearing his new whistle…

 

Both boys got lots of new toys.  Cade especially loves his new tunnel.  Since he is still spending a lot of time on the floor, it’s perfect for him right now.

Cole needed to wear his “motorcycle glasses” while he pretended to ride it (aka my sunglasses).  The whole way home he talked about how he was going to ride his motorcycle when we got home.  I told him that it was probably going to be too dark to ride it outside and he said that was okay that he would just ride it in the dark.  We weren’t in the door 2 minutes and he was already taking off on it down the hallway.  Figures…my poor dad didn’t get to see him ride it at all!…it has a reverse button so he has just been riding up and down the hallway all day today.  My baseboards will never be the same.  I’m ready for the snow to melt so he can ride this thing outside!!  Today he was riding it and jumped off to come and tell me that “motorcycle guy (Cole) needed to go potty.”

 

We were so excited that Meredith, Debbie and Frazier were in Russellville on Sunday visiting her cousin Molly and their family.  We tried to get a cute picture of the boys.  Poor Frazier has a cold and wasn’t feeling well.  It was SO great to get to see you Mer – even if only for a little bit!

Christmas Night

We had everyone over to our house Christmas night. It was the perfect way to end a great Christmas day!

Christmas Day

Where to begin…Cade is teething pretty bad and hasn’t slept good in about a week so as expected, he was up all night long on Christmas eve. I finally got up with him for good around 6 am. Kyle was up soon after and got a fire going while we waited on Cole to wake up.

This was the best part. Cole walks into the living room carrying his bear (with big boy underwear on of course) and his blue blankie. He drops them immediately when he realizes that Santa has been here. He couldn’t believe all of the toys. He jumped from one to another and was genuinely excited about every one of them. It was priceless just listening to him.

Cade and Uncle Trey played with Cade’s new toys from Santa too.

Cole had to come over and check out Cade’s toys too :)

We got 4 inches of snow. It was the first white Christmas in a long time.

Santa brought Cole a big blow up space ship AND an astronaut helmet. He wore it all day long.

When we’d ask Cole what he wanted for Christmas he would usually say “a whistle” or “a motorcycle.” Cole got a whistle in his stocking but there was a special note from Santa on it that said “This whistle is for outside use only.” Cole took that very seriously so he had to go outside and test out his new whistle :)

Nana got Cole an astronaut costume. He loves it. All day long he would come up to me and tell me that he was going to blast off into space and that he’d be back later.

Cade enjoyed snacking on his toes…Also, Cade had a BIG day! He finally rolled over from his tummy to his back. A perfect Christmas surprise for me. Now we’re working on back to tummy.

Cole got to wear his new snow bib and snow boots and built a miniature snowman with Kyle. What a wonderful morning!!

Since we got 4 inches of snow, we were hesitant to drive on 540 with 2 young kids so we didn’t get to go to Ft. Smith on Christmas day. It was the first year that I didn’t spent Christmas day with my dad and Grandma. We hated to miss it but we also enjoyed hanging out at home by the fire and watching Cole play all day.

Christmas Jammies

Every year we get to open up one present on Christmas Eve and it is always new PJ’s. Cole and Cade had to have matching jammies, of course. My mom and Trey spent the night with us on Christmas Eve. We were glad especially since we got 4 inches of snow! Trey and Cade snuggled (Trey likes to say that they bonded during this time) while Cole unwrapped his jammies (told you he preferred to be in underwear only).
