Spirit week and Croup!

Monday was "mismatch" day at school. It's kind of hard for Cole to be "mismatched" because most of his bottoms are khaki or denim so I had to get a little creative. The striped pants are pjs. Cole was really concerned when Kyle was getting him dressed and kept telling him that he's not supposed to wear jammies to school.



Sweet Cade went to school on Monday with no signs of croup other than maybe a little minor cough. I got a call around 1:3o that afternoon saying that he had a cough that sounded like an adult and he was really fussy. I called the clinic and they had me bring him in. Now, keep in mind that Cade is dressed like this. Figures that I have to take him in public when he looks like orphan annie. I felt like I had to explain it to everyone around me "today is mismatch day at school." Anyway, this was our first sick appointment with Cade other than the one before for excema. I'm SO glad I took him in because he has Croup! It progressively got worse that afternoon. The doc said that we would have had a really long night and may have ended up in the emergency room because he would have started to have labored breathing. She gave him a dose of steroids and by Monday evening he was feeling much better. He slept all night and was a happy boy this morning. The doc said he could go to school if he was feeling okay since he never had fever and croup is contagious like a common cold is contagious. This evening he was back to all smiles and when he coughs, it's just a normal baby cough. Whew!


Tuesday was Hat day. Cole wore Mickey ears and Cade had a bunny hat.

It's cold outside!

For the last couple of weeks, Cole has not been interested in playing outside for whatever reason. Last Friday morning, it was 45 degrees outside and the first thing Cole wanted to do was go outside and play so I bundled him up and sent him out. He wanted Caesar out there with him. I had to chase Caesar outside and found him (Caesar - not Cole) a few minutes later at the back door begging to come in. It was COLD!

Chili Supper at Gulley Park

The Boy's daycare kicked off "spirit" week with a Chili supper at Gulley park. We had a great time. Cole insisted on bringing his football and helmet. The boys ran non-stop.

These boys have been in school together since they were little. So neat to see how big they are getting!

Fall is here!

Tried to get a couple of pics in front of the beautiful maple in our front yard. It was cold and the boys weren't really cooperating! A couple turned out pretty cute.

tummy time for Cole!

When I'm doing things with Cade, Cole will say "my turn!" This is him doing tummy time on Cade's blanket. He asked me to take his picture too :)

4 months old!

Cade is 4 months old! He's really starting to come out of the sleepy baby phase. He loves to be talked to and smiles and laughs all the time. He's sleeping great (about 9 hours at night). Can't wait till he goes to bed at the same time as Cole. What will we do with all of our time in the evenings again? He noticed Caesar the other day. It was really funny to watch him. He weighed 13 pounds, 12 ounces at his check up. He's in the 25% for height and weight. For a preemie, that is great. He eats a ton! Still every three hours and at school he'll take a 6 ounce bottle each time. He sleeps GREAT at school. Naps are between 1 and 3 hours. At home, he cat naps. Can't figure it out. His skin is still so dry. Excema is awful. We lube him up with vaseline at least twice a day. He LOVES his big brother. He watches cole's every move. Cole is still so great with him. Not a single jealous moment. really pretty amazing. Cade is just precious. Really a pretty easy little guy. We just love him to pieces!!

Hunting Season is Here!

Yep, Hunting Season is officially here! Before Kyle left for the weekend, he put together his famous "hunting season survival kit." Funny to think that my survival kit used to include a blockbuster gift card so I could catch up on all of my girly movies and a pedicure for a little pampering. Now it has bribe toys for Cole, Sonic gift card for my happy hour runs and gummy candy! I also got a pedicure. Kyle said he'd organize a babysitter sometime in the next few weeks so that I could go and get pampered while he is gone. :) I love love love that Kyle thinks of this and surprises me every year. Such a great husband! Love you baby!

Exersaucer!

Cade's not quite big enough for it yet, but we got the exersaucer out to give it a try. Cole loved showing Cade how to work everything. After a little while Cole said "My turn!" He was dying to get in the bucket seat too :)

Happy Birthday Ray Ray and Ju Ju!!!

Rachel and Julia turned 11 last Friday. We had a little family party at their house to celebrate. Funny to think that I've know Rachel and Julia since they were born. Erin was very involved in the Pi Phi house and most of my close friends babysat for her. I can remember when Erin was big and pregnant coming to Chapter meetings. Really strange to think that the girls were 3 years old when I met Kyle. Funny that I've known them longer than I've known my husband!! I love these girls!

We're going to be Rockers! Can't wait to post pictures of Cade's "costume". Rachel and Julia are dressing up with the boys too. Don't worry...even Caesar has a costume!

This picture of Cole cracks me up. Cole has started taking his clothes off when he gets home from school. He says it's because they are "dirty from playing in sand." His guitar was delivered that day and we opened it up that evening. He looks like that naked cowboy guy that plays the guitar in Times Square!

Bedtime

Cade isn't much of a paci baby. He'll take it sometimes, but then other times you'll catch him sucking his thumb!
We always read books at bedtime. Now that Cade is getting bigger, he is joining in on the fun. Love it!

Cade and the Girls...Rice Cereal too

Ray Ray and Ju Ju came over to play with the boys last week. They are SO great with both of them!

This one is out of order, but this is Cade's first taste of rice cereal. He seemed to like it much more than Cole did the first time. I hope that Cade is an eater like Cole. Makes mealtimes so much easier. Last weekend we went to the Rolling Pin for Saturday morning breakfast. Cole ate every bite of his breakfast and half of my plate too. There was a table full of several older men and women next to us. One of the ladies at the table leaned over and asked me if it was okay if she gave Cole a dollar. I said yes, but that she didn't need to do that. She said that she wanted to because it was such a pleasure to eat next to him because he was so well behaved. Believe it or not, that is the SECOND time that has happened! It helps when your kid likes to eat!

Tummy Time

Cade enjoyed a little tummy time and checked himself out in the mirror. I missed a great picture when he first saw himself and starting grinning so big!

Love seeing Cole dressed up in his Sunday clothes! He thinks he looks pretty cute too :)

Pumpkin store

Nana gave the boys these neat pumpkin holders that look like spiders so we had to make a stop at the pumpkin store to get pumpkins to fit. We are still planning to go to a real pumpkin patch in the next couple of weeks with Meredith, Crawford and Conlee. Hopefully Cade will be awake long enough for pictures!

Bikes Blues and BBQ

A couple of weekends ago it was Bikes Blues and BBQ. Thousands of bikers come up for the event (and most Fayetteville people get out of town). We went down on Dickson for lunch on Saturday to check it out. I had Cade in the carrier (he slept the whole time). I heard a lady walk past us and say "I can't believe she has that baby out here!!"

Sleep is a BEAUTIFUL Thing!

I'm afraid to even say this out loud but Cade is officially sleeping "thru the night"! He has been going down for the night between 9:30 and 10 and the last couple of mornings I've had to wake him up. This morning I woke him up at 7:15 so we could get ready to leave for the gym. He's even sleeping without the swaddle!! This is a picture of one of the first nights without the swaddle. We wrapped the blanket around his waist with his arms out. He slept great.


Cole is a great sleeper but I've been finding him in some odd positions lately. Check this one out...he was sound asleep.
