A robin was trying to make a nest right outside of our back door on the porch light. It was pretty amazing to see what she had built in a short time. Kyle noticed it earlier that day when he came home from lunch. He tore it down which sounds bad but we don’t need a bird nest outside of the back door we go in and out of a hundred times a day. That evening, she had already built this back. Pretty cool!
Yes, he is painting his hand on purpose. They do a lot of art at school and many of his projects have his hand print so if I give Cade a paintbrush the first thing he does is paint his hand.
“Hey mom, this is an elephant with a really big tail.”
About 3 minutes after this picture, Cade decided to rub his right eye because it was after dinner and getting close to bedtime. Since the first thing he does is paint his hand, you can imagine what his eye looked like! I was going to take a picture, but I thought it might have looked like child abuse because he had so much paint gobbed on it that he could barely open it. As he’s rubbing that eye, he starts to cry which causes him to rub his other eye and then reach for me to hold him. He was COVERED in paint. I picked him up under his armpits and headed straight for the bathtub!
We decided to sign Cole up for First Touch Soccer this Spring through the City of Fayetteville Parks & Rec. Last Fall, a couple of his buddies did it and every Monday when they would have to get their “uniform” on at school to head to practice, I would pick up a little boy in tears because he wasn’t getting to play “soccer on the field” with this friends. He was 3 in the Fall and we just didn’t want to get that started yet. First Touch isn’t really an “organized sport.” They don’t play real games. They just run drills and play things like Red Light Green Light, Simon Says, etc. They scrimmage a bit each time but no winning/losing, etc.
We told Cole on our way home from Dallas that he was going to get to play “soccer on the field” on Monday after school. He was SO excited. We got to our first practice and he smiled the entire time. Seriously. He smiled the whole time. He was SO happy to be there. Turns out that several little boys are in the same group from his school so he knows lots of people and of course Crawford was there so that was perfect!
We had such a wonderful time this weekend! Thank you Pop Pop for everything. We made lots of memories and will be talking about them for a long time. By the way, Cade fell asleep after we dropped you off at McAlester at your car and when he woke up he sounded like a broken record saying “Pop Pop?” “Pop Pop?” and pointing toward the back seat wanting you to lean over the seat and talk to him!
We came to Texas this weekend to celebrate John and Elizabeth’s 2nd birthday! We were so excited to finally see them at their Gymboree party! The boys had a ball playing with their cousins. I took a ton of pictures but these were my favorites. After the party, we went by to see Amy and Darrick’s new house that they are building and then we went to dinner. Wonderful night! Wish we could see them more often!
This place doesn’t sleep! There are kids everywhere and tons of stuff for them to do! After dinner, Pop Pop and I took the boys to the arcade room to play for a little while Kyle went to Bass Pro Shop down the street. Below is the boys’ version of skee ball!
All of the kids had these wands so we went to find out what they were all about. You buy the wand from MagiQuest downstairs and it is a game where you use clues to unlock mysteries and cool things all around the resort. The boys weren’t actually playing the game. Their wands were set to “demo” so that everything worked for them. Example – This wolf statue howled and his eyes light up when you point your wand. There were treasure chests that opened and all kinds of stuff like that! Really pretty neat. The older kids were really into it.
Our room was SO cool. Dad got us a themed room called “Kid’s Kamp".” The boys had their own little area with bunk beds and a flat screen tv. How cute is this!
The first night was a little rough. The boys were still wound up at 10:30 p.m. and they normally go to bed at 7:30! We couldn’t get them to calm down so we folded out the couch bed and Kyle slept with Cole there and I slept with Cade in the Queen bed. Not sure any of us really slept! Day 2 was much better. The boys went down for a nap in the bunk beds and Cole slept all night up top and Cade on bottom. That was the first time for Cade to sleep in a big bed by himself. He did great! He woke up a few times calling for me but once I went in there he went right back to sleep.
I got to have dinner with one of my oldest best friends, Meredith. Her little boy Frazier just turned 2 and is precious! I didn’t get a picture of her hubby, Hohman, but he was there too. We had a great dinner – yummy mexican food and a margarita! The boys were great!
Cole took this picture of Mer, Cade and I! Excuse the way I look. We drove in that morning and then went to the waterpark for a few hours and straight to dinner with no shower!
Pop Pop and Cole were acting pretty silly the whole time.
