Today..tonight...I blog. It's official. So, welcome.
Who knows how long it will last, if at all. Please check back later for pictures and eye candy. For now, just my words.
It's almost October here in Kansas City... Parkville to be exact. Adrian, Juliette, and I are looking fwd to what's next and trying to stay afloat in the present. Right now, as I type, Adrian is at Escapist.. ...wait... I hear his motorcycle pulling in the drive right now
Escapist is looking good...especially since I added a rack exclusively for GIRLS clothing. I admit, I had a hidden agenda since I tend to swipe items for myself. People seem to love Adrian's shop...and get this...Steve Berra was in there two days ago, freaking out about how nice the store was. Steve Berra is my favorite pro skater and Juliette Lewis's x husband. I would have met Steve, but I was dressed up as a ballerina at Bartle Hall for a corporate costume gala....my latest acting gig, and a personal favor to my agent.
Adrian is able to spend more time with us now that the store in Zona Rosa is so close. He still enjoys his motorcycle. He took Juliette for a little ride recently...I bit my nails until they bled that day As far as Adrian's music goes, he did get a call from a famous beat boxer who would like Adrian to go to NYC in April for a special beatbox event...I don't know, but if it's NYC and Adrian is beat boxing...then I'm already there. He is glad to be busy with the shop, his church calling, and being a very cool dad!
Juliette is really looking forward to Halloween so that she can wear her witch costume! She is really into "scary" anything lately....and particularly loves to go to the stores where they have the displays of various spooky nick-nacks, like the candy bowl with the hand that smacks your wrist when you reach in....she loves that one.
JuJu is enjoying her dance class, and though she is still not completely focused in the studio, she has definitely brought a few things home. I've noticed her walking on her toes more, and looking in the mirror more. Okay, so she's a little obsessed with her reflection. She loves telling stories and pretending to be a cat, and playing with boys. I think it is because most boys will play rough with her. But every now and then, she will exude poise and grace while attempting a British accent...her "queen" talk. Her favorite book is Goldillocks and the Three Bears right now. And today she found a new love for the Rolling Stones while I drove with the windows down. She also loves "Care About" from Bible School.
Our crazy girl attended her first rock and roll concert at the same venue her Mommy and Daddy go to hear real rock shows, the loud ones. She went one afternoon to see the DooDads, a band of rocker Midtown Dads who had kids and decided to make a living as a kid friendly group. SO it was basically a great show, with a mosh pit of three and four year-old tots. Juliette and her little friend Milan rolled around on the floor. Juliette also danced with at least three other boys, and at one point she was on the front row, leaning on the speaker with her arm around some boys neck. I was so proud...but a little scared at the same time.
As for me, Em...I'm still slacking on the domestic side, but doing well with being a mommy and musician. In the next two weeks I've got a new solo jazz gig. Cantata practice is starting where I will direct, plus we are having the annual bon-fire at our house next week. That means the house needs to be organized, the yard needs trimming, and a million other things. Dang it, I just remembered I also have to move new furniture into Juliette's room, thank you Anna...and I made the mistake of promising her I'd paint her room purple if she learned to sleep in a big bed. She's holding me to it, and reminding me every day. So I have a purple room to tackle on top of everything. At least I finished painting the decks red. That was fun. Especially when I started painting right over a wasp nest.
So that's the update....hopefully the next blog won't be so long.
