Spring will be a little late this year

I am a bit of pain, and a little looney from it.  Here is our latest update.  Good times!

So far, 2010 has been a BLAST!  First, we all had the stomach flu...at the same time!  I tell ya, there is no bonding like sharing a trash can with your daughter and passing out on the floor together.  We are tight!

Tons of snow and sub zero temps this January.  One day, our storm door actually froze shut...ha! Cabin fever is SO fun!

Oh, and I have shingles.  The coolest!  Doc told me stress can trigger this beautiful condition...he is too much!
And no, it is NOT contageous...unless you are a toddler and have not had the pox shot and come in close contact with my forehead and scalp...in that case, you are Vaughn... and you get CHICKEN POX!

Wooooohoooooo!

Ahhhh, but the good news is that we have a sense of humor, a cozy home, and Juliette's fish are super healthy!  (well there was one neon who didn't make it through the filter...RIP Lily)

Oh, and the snails had a baby!  What do baby snails do about a shell?  Hmmmmm

Happy February everyone.  Here's to spring, which may be a little late this year, wink wink.

christmas 09 PART ONE

Here are a few pics from Christmas.  Seems that I, like Mom, avoid the camera as much as possible.  Wish I had more photos of her though...more to come.

no photos, and who is elroy?

Dang it!  My last post..."Elroy" posted and it makes no sense...visually.  Lame.  Anyway...

No photos yet, but Christmas was WONDERFUL!  One of the best ever, esp for our kiddos.

The BEST gift I could ever receive was given this year...to see those eyes light up like they did, over and over again.  Even better, Adrian was there for eight days...he was ours and we were his, for eight days!  I am so glad by the way, that my husband loves my family so much.  He could not wait to get to Arkansas for a vacay!

Of course, we also enjoyed a fantastic time in Iowa with the Frost/Murd fam before the trip down south.  It's hard to write about without photos.  The pics seem to tell the holiday story better than I can right now, as I am neck deep in unpacking.  No complaints, as most of the unpacking includes gifts and goodies from our loved ones!

We drove to LA in torrential rain, and returned to KC in dangerous ice/snow, but both trips were successful and we arived safe and happy, our little family.  Let me tell you, I am grateful for our safety after our highway adventures...that, and childrens' dramamine!

Juliette fell to the floor in tears when I told her it was time to leave Arkansas...and her dear cousins...and grandparents...I started crying too.  I wanted to throw a tantrum, and I did in my head.  The saddest part of my year, every year, is the conclusion of Christmas...the trip home, back to life, back to reality.  This year the blow was softened when we walked in our cozy, warm little house, covered in at least a foot of snow.  Anna, who had our key, had left presents under the tree for us and cleaned and decorated.  She even left little notes here and there.

Above our wedding photo in the bedroom she placed a hand written note for Adrian and I, "I thank you God for this day."

Above Juliette's bed she left a note, "I choose to see everything and everyone with joy and love."

Notes everywhere...bathroom, kitchen, living room...everywhere.  I can't tell you how much this means.  There are those friends who know exactly what you need...what your family needs...each member of my family.  She knows...she's tapped in.

God must really love us. What a holiday!   I miss my parents, Mamow, everyone...my sister...Arkansas...not having to worry about dinner...sleeping in and staying up late...wait, I stay up late anyway. Shopping at the weird random pop up stores in C town, and checking out the latest new restaurant that constantly replaces Tiger Harry's...  Time...time with Adrian, with Mamow...with Daddy and Mom, and cousins and aunts and uncles, and high school friends.

But you know, reality is not all that bad, and it is a new year.  We have love and laughter and each other.  That's enough to keep us warm and well.

Still, on a side note, Adrian asked me, "did you take down the outside Christmas lights before we left?"
Nope...they are just burried in the snow.
