Just another day in the life of Emily
This morning my vehicle tried to kill me. Honestly, I'm pretty sure there is a voodoo doll out there with my name on it. jk...but really, this is not my year...then again, maybe it is. I am learning more than I ever have about myself, about life, about people. ANYWAY...about the ghost in my car.
We were running late for preschool. I had enough time time to get Juliette dressed, but I did not have time to get myself ready. So I walked out the door in my PJ pants and NO SHOES! Those of you who know me are not at all shocked by this. Oh, and it was around 30 degrees today. I remember thinking, "hope I don't have to get out of the car today....barefoot in my pj pants." And they were not even flannel pants...they were hot pink silkers yawl. Perfectly normal to drive in these, right?
I was driving the speed limit on the freeway, 65 mph. All of a sudden, the Element began to accelerate...it felt like I had pushed cruise control. Next thing I know, I am going 70...and my foot is not on the gas. I didn't panic, but my heart was racing out of my chest. All I could think about was Juliette in the back seat. Seconds later, I had the break to the floor and it seemed to slow things down a little, but not enough to ease my mind. I held down the break for the rest of our drive as my car drove itself to JuJu's school. The only reason we did not wreck was because there were no cars ahead of us....thanks to running late maybe? When we pulled up to the entrance, the car would not come to a complete stop. Just as I was about to hit a parked car in front of me, I just slammed the thing into park and pulled out the key. Phew!
Juliette went inside with no real knowledge of what had just happened. I knew there was no way I was going to drive home. This is where my Dad is going to be furious...I did not have my cell phone with me. Okay, so I am in my hot pink satin pj pants, with no shoes. Well, I happened to have a suitcase of clothes for Goodwill in the back. I found a pair of jeans that I thought were too small...to my delight I put them on...too big.....for a moment I almost forgot that my car tried to kill me when I could fit into these jeans again!! If I learned one thing as a gymnast in high school it's how to change clothes fast and discreetly...we were always changing clothes on the school bus for out of town meets. Anyway, I still had no shoes, but lucky for me, I just painted my toenails a beautiful shade of OPI red red wine yesterday!
I put on a little lip color and walked into the school...her preschool is actually inside of the ParkHill South High School. It's a very nice, very BIG school. After walking barefoot around the building for a while, I finally found the front office. I called my neighbor Keith to see if he could come and pick me up. Adrian was at home with Vaughn but not answering his phone. Don't really know why Adrian has a phone.... No answer from Keith. Okay, at this point, I am saying so many bad words in my head, and pretty sure I might break the word of wisdom later!!!
Here is where God showed up...actually, I'm sure God had already been there when we didn't die on the freeway. So I look over at the front entrance, and a man is walking in...gosh, looks just like Keith, my neighbor. It IS Keith. BIG KEITH!! His daughter had left her keys at home and he was bringing them to the office. No coincidence. No way.
I jumped as high as any barefoot person can jump...for joy. Keith owns a construction company and he had one of his employees with him. They drove me to the Element and took a look under the hood. I guess a vacuum hose or something came loose. Keith and his buddy put it back into place and drove it home for me because I was still too scared to get behind the wheel. Apparently it drove just fine all the way home. Problem solved. We made it home safely, and the Element is just fine. I'm still not driving it for a day or so until Adrian takes a second look at it. I'll drive the Nissan until I calm down. With my luck now we will need new breaks seeing as how I drove on them for about eight minutes.
I must be the only person on the planet to have this much bad luck with a Honda...one we bought new...a car that Consumer Report RAVED about. Pshhhh!!!! It could be that I did sort of wreck it the year we bought it and it has not been the same ever since...but still...it's a Honda...I thought they were impossible to destroy! Everything I touch breaks.
On ANOTHER NOTE....I took Juliette and Olivia to see a matinee showing of Coraline!!!! I can't tell you how happy it made me to see this movie. To know that there are still people out there with imagination...to know books can come to life like this....AMAZING! Juliette loved it...of course she did! Olivia was stoked as well. I want to go see it again with Adrian. Sweet Coraline!!!
I'm happy to be alive. I'm happy that God showed himself to me today, and I will never...ever, drive without shoes or clothes again.

Oh Vaughn....
What is my baby doing at this late hour? NOT SLEEPING! Belly full of oatmeal, but he is just working it all off in his crib. I just walked in and found him on all fours, rocking back and forth with such determination. He is JUST like Adrian...he will NOT give up until he's got it figured out. I should lower the mattress because he just might climb out soon. I wish I had video of this...but I can't figure out how to transfer videos off of our camera...I've tried but it always just uploads for hours and hours...then nothing. I need a Flip.
Anyway, just had to go in there a second time. He's at it again...back and forth...only he's made it to the other side of the crib...he was at the edge...just staring down the bumper like, "now what?" It's because he is the second child...he watches his big sis run around him all day long and he wants so badly to chase her. I've heard that the second baby will always learn from their sibling...and learn fast. He's a mover.
Vaughn says "Mama" now....don't think he knows what he is saying. It's more like a "mamamamamamaaaaaaaaaaaa," and then "bababababaaaaaa."
I know every baby is different. I love to hear about how they each grow up in their own little way. My friend Hannah has a baby boy two weeks younger than Vaughn, and this guy laughs out loud like a five year old...I mean, he cracks up until he loses his breath. Is it Peter Pan where they say a fairy gets her wings when a baby laughs for the first time? Anyway, there's always something to look fwd to with kids...every day something new. What a wonderful journey.

For Caroline
Dear Caroline,
I know, it's kind of weird that I am writing a letter to you on my blog...but what do you expect...I have never been known for my conventional ways. Besides, I want everyone who reads this...all five readers...to learn why I admire you so much.
You usually have the answers to everything, and on the rare occasion that you don't know the answer to a problem....you at least know how to make us feel better about it.
You have a natural, effortless gift of style. You know why everyone in France loved you so much...why the mayor of that village had you over for dinner...because you ooooze class and any American who can win the French over that fast must be pretty special. You brought back a scarf for me that year, and the day I wore it around my neck was the day I fell in love with fashion. I was so proud of that scarf.
I have always wanted to be more like you. You introduced me to "cool" music. TO this day, when someone asks me what my favorite kind of music is...I tell them, "whatever my sister is listening to."
Food. You know food...good, high quality, food. You were never the picky eater like I was. You have excellent culinary instinct, but you are never above eating at a place like Town Topic.
Humanitarian. You were the first person in our town to hold a candle light vigil...I'm pretty sure they had never heard of such a thing until you organized it.
I know for a fact that this world would not exist without people like you.
You dressed up as Robert Palmer girl for Halloween when you were a teenager. Brilliant.
You have the cool pad mojo. I've always loved every home you've had...and still dream about the one you live in now.
You are smart...so freaking smart...AND talented.
I can't tell you how often I find myself in a conversation with someone..totally stuck, wondering, What would Caroline say?
You have always had the most wonderful friends...and not just two or three friends...but tons of amazing human beings who love to be around you.
The names for a few of the pets you've had....PuffPuff, Julian, Lee Harvey Oswald. Nuff said.
You hired a cat shrink, and I love you for this!
Nothing in your life is meaningless...everything tells a story, whether it be a painting on the wall, or the flip flops on your feet...they all mean something, or have a story.
You give the BEST gifts, hands down...one of a kind, unique gifts.
You are spiritual, and you know how to appreciate and accept the beliefs of others.
You are beautiful in every way. I wish I could be more like you. I could go on and on...I could write a book. Thank you for being my sister and my best friend. I hope you take a moment on your birthday, and think about what a wonderful life you have lead thus far. I know you will continue to make a difference, to be an amazing mother and wife, to be Caroline....an inspiration to everyone who is lucky enough to meet you. Happy Birthday!
I have a little birthday package I am sending tomorrow. I figure you will enjoy receiving a gift the day after right? Few days after, depending...Riiiight.

VolunteerMatch - Opportunity Search
VolunteerMatch - Opportunity Search
Great website for ideas on how you and your family can be of service in your community.
Another idea I just read about....
Make a FAMILY GIVING BOX.
When and if you give your children allowance or money for any reason, you can give them the option of placing a small part of it in the family giving box. Even if it's a quarter, over time, it will add up. Then you can gather as a family and decide how you will spend it on others in need.

A Name and a Blessing

A Name and a Blessing
Vaughn Edward Frost
Given by Adrian Frost
February 22, 2009
(thank you to those who took notes...I would not have a record of Adrian's words otherwise.)
"I Bless you in ways of physical capacity. I bless you with health.
You are blessed into a family who has embraced the Gospel of Jesus Christ and The Restoration.
May you be blessed with opportunities to learn and gain both secular and spiritual knowledge that can bring your heart and mind to the truth.
I bless you that you will serve a mission...
that you will bless others and bring others to Christ throughout your whole life.
Father in Heaven, walk with this child and watch over him."

Thank you Darlin and Grandaddy for the white tux! I missed you today and can't wait to see you soon. Maybe I will have to come down and make an Easter appearance at First Pres!
Love, Vaughn

two very pretty and very silly girls, juju and milan
I love her prominent forehead...still trying to grow bangs...still trying to grow hair! A stylist told us that it can take up to seven years for her bangs to finish growing. One day she will hate her forehead..but I will tell her how queens used to shave their hairlines to achieve this look...and how a little more forehead is youthful and adorable. Cristina Ricci...Tyra Banks....Reese Witherspoon...it won't matter...she will still hate it. Gosh she's growing up fast.

FINALLY!
Mission accomplished! I finally spent time in a studio and recorded a new demo...something I've been trying to get done for a while, but one thing after another has prevented me from doing so.
I almost had to cancel this session because Vaughn came down with something last night, but I took him with me and he was just fine. He sat quietly and peacefully on my lap while we recorded four songs start to finish, each in one take! This never happens. It usually takes hours to complete one song! I believe he may have coughed in the middle of "Summer Samba," but that's alright.
You know, when Juliette was Vaughn's age she sat on my lap while Adrian and I wrote and recorded music in our home studio. She was not quiet though. Adrian ended up recording her baby talk and then beat boxed with it...turned it into a hilarious hip hop track...if I find it one of these days I'll add it to my song list...so funny. Anyway....
A HUGE thanks to Bob Harvey and Harry Miller....oh, and a DEAR friend of my mine who watched JuJu. Someone who has helped me more than she knows in the past few months.
Okay...now I'm going to try for the 100th time to watch an online video of my sister singing Bach...my sister has a beautiful voice. I'm good at singing...but Caroline is good at singing and so much more...super smart....she read books growing up...I just banged on a metal shoe rack with a coat hanger and wailed Annie songs. She and I will have to record together one day.

My Valentine
Recently, Adrian told me something I'll never forget...and yes, this is a romantic Valentines Day post..why? It's our 5 year temple marriage anniversary.
I asked Adrian if he thought God had ever made any decisions for him. We were discussing free will vs. God's plan etc...
Adrian casually explained, "...well for example, I fought moving to North Kansas City for years, but I knew God wanted me to be there for some reason. So I moved back from NY....Now I know why he wanted me to move back...because you were here."
Adrian and I met at a crossroad for sure. I was trying hard to find a way to move out of KC to NYC. Adrian was fighting moving to KC from NYC. Something was keeping me from moving away, and it drove me crazy until i met Adrian. If there is one thing I am certain about today, it is that God made this match. Our story reminds me of one of my favorite songs, "I Could Write a Book." I could....but I'll try and keep it simple today. I'll just say that to this day, I question everything around me, but when I met Adrian Mead Frost, I could see the future for the first time. I knew we had a future. The night we met, he told me he was Mormon, and for the first time ever, the term Mormon did not annoy me. Then I asked him what his full name was, and he told me...Adrian Frost. I admit, I immediately imagined what my name would sound like with his...shhh. Very uncharacteristic of me at the time.
Adrian met me during a dark time in my life, but from the moment I met him, the sun started creeping out again. My apartment burned down while I was in Arkansas. This was two weeks after we met. Adrian drive to my place, and spent hours salvaging all he could, including my guitar. I knew then that I would marry him. To this day when he plays my guitar, so much better than I do,...I think of how he not only saved my guitar, but he saved me too. I found God and the love of my life that year.
Fast fwd one year later....
On December 29th, 2002, we were married in the church I grew up in. Not a doubt in my mind about getting married to him. Before I met Adrian, marriage was not on my agenda of things to do before I am 30. Never say never. It was a wonderful wedding. Walking down the isle with my Daddy carrying my mother's Bible...my sister singing....harp, violin, flute, organ, trumpet, congregation singing...and we threw it all together in less than three months. Can you imagine my poor parents that year? Hey Mom and Dad, I am joining the Mormon church...oh, and I'd like to have a wedding this Christmas. Cool? God Bless Mom and Daddy.
On Feb 14th, 2003, we were sealed in the San Diego Temple. Just the two of us, and I would not have it any other way. Well, there was one other there...Juliette was five months in my belly.
I have three rings on my left hand, bound together. One beautiful engagement ring that Adrian designed himself, and presented me in the Rose Garden of Loose Park in Kansas City. One thin wedding band with two diamonds, and and another identical band that Adrian suprised me with before we were sealed...on the lawn of the temple. So Adrian proposed twice. Inside his wedding band, I engraved these words, "Always, Everyday." After our wonderful wedding in Camden, Adrian continued to ask me to marry him... every night when we went to bed. "Emily, will you marry me?" Yes, Adrian, "Forever?" Yep. "Everyday?" Everyday. Okay so the inscription was supposed to say Forever instead of always...but they screwed up....same meaning at least.
I am loved. Adrian is not perfect...and I don't know what God was thinking when he doomed Adrian to an eternity with me, but I know we are perfect for each other. One thing Adrian does, even if we are not at our best, he always tells me how much he loves me. He tells me I am beautiful...he is full of flattery, and I usually roll my eyes at it or change the subject...but deep down I know how lucky I am to have a husband who adores me. And I do adore him. He's my best friend. And I could not imagine any kind of eternity without him by my side.
Happy Anniversary Adrian.
PS....look at this photo...look at the sky behind us....see anything...anyone? (:
This was in Utah on our honeymoon after a day of snowboarding. We placed the camera on the ground and put it on a timer...but we had no idea who was in the clouds that day. Back in KC following the honeymoon, one of our friends looked at this photo and made a joke about the face in the sky, "Wow, I guess God really does live in Utah."
I don't thjink God is exclusive to Utah, but he sure was there that day!

I don't thjink God is exclusive to Utah, but he sure was there that day!

Bruised Butt and Butternut Squash
That dreamy motorcycle ride I went on the other day....left me bruised and sore. I am old. This is what happens when you are staring the end of your twenties in the face...the inability to go on a measly bike ride without getting injured. I didn't fall off, we didn't wreck. There was a faded speed bump on this country road. It was a nasty bump, but I did not think anything of it at the time. Today I woke up with lower back pain and a sore tushy. BUT......
On a totally different subject....a wonderful winter squash by the name of Butternut found me this week. It started when I read Hannah's blog and she was writing about making homemade baby food....kudos to here by the way. That same day, I went to the book store and came across a cookbook on how to sneak veggies into your kids food. The book should have just been called, Butternut Puree, because every recipe was just that. Later, at the grocery store, I walked by the soup isle and the first thing I noticed was, Butternut Squash soup. Hmmmm...
I made my way to the bread isle and picked up my favorite Wheatberry bread, and low and behold, there was a coupon: free produce of your choice with purchase of wheatberry bread.
I knew what I needed to do. I carefully chose my free butternut squash, and not just to put in a bowl on the table and look pretty. I decided it was time to get off of my so called vegetarian bruised butt and learn now to cook butternut squash. I've had this winter veggie before, just never prepared it myself. I know, it's just squash, a no brainer...but for some reason I was always intimidated by it. When it's raw, it looks and smells like raw pumpkin...yucko! Of course when it is roasted...well, your home will smell like home.
Thanks to Caroline, it was easy as can be. Split it in half, rub olive oil, bake for an hour.
Here is the best part.....
Tonight, I forgot all about the pain in my rear....why? Juliette ate a full serving of butternut squash, hidden in mac and cheese. Vaughn ate a full serving of Magic Bullet butternut puree.
Juliette ate squash. This is huge. Someone call Oprah. I did not tell Juliette what I did, and I don't plan letting her in on my secret until she is 29 with a stubborn child of her own.
Even better? Well, Caroline was right, making your own baby food is not expensive or difficult.
Thank you butternut squash. As for the bruised butt....ehhh, what can you do?

My idea of a perfect day
My idea of a perfect day....was today.
Sleeping in...the whole family!
65 degrees, sunny and breezy.
Tex mex lunch, the four of us.
Cruising through the backroads for hours with Adrian...on his motorcycle.
Walking through a forest with Adrian...hiking to the top of a hill, hand in hand.
Taking a cat nap with Adrian...having the house to ourselves for a short while.
Watching Juliette's dance lesson with Adrian and Vaughn.
Going to the movies with Adrian (Benjamin Button) and having the entire theater to ourselves!
Thank you to those who made it possible for Adrian and I to spend much needed time together.
I loved this day. The only thing that could have made it better is a beach...and trust me, we are working on that!
I love my husband. I love my family.

Vaughn 5 months
Has he really been with us for 5 months??!! I did not sleep last night...nothing new, but I realized that Vaughn will be 6 months before I know it...a year before I know it. I wish I could freeze time, I really do.
So...we don't have doctor stats because we are getting new and awesome insurance in March, so I'm going to take him in then. How much does he weigh? You should see my arms...I've got Madonna arms thanks to this chunky monkey. Of course, that also means I have poor posture and back aches. Vaughn is a good eater. He takes 6 ounces no prob, and tried to eat everything on my plate at every meal. So I thought perhaps I should start giving him veggies. He loves the orange veggies so far.
He is teething but no fussing yet. This fella does not get upset. I can't recall any big tears so far. But if we take too long to come and get him in the morning, he yells and his face turns red. His stork bite has faded but when he's mad you can really see it!
Maybe Vaughn is like Adrian....according to Vikki, Adrian never cried...even after what happened to his Dad...and they worried about him because of this. It's weird to me, but I've known others who's eys don't water...like my brother, and a few of my girlfriends....I'm fascinated with peopel who don't cry at the drop of a pin like I do. In fact, I only start to worry about my own mental health when I don't cry...when I'm all dried up, you know it's bad. I am a big baby, no pun intended.
Anyway, I am sure when we receive our next round of shots Vaughn will turn on the water works. Until then, I am one lucky mother of the most contented baby ever! He's just so happy. Tender mercies...
Vaughn is at the early stage of crawling. Juliette was an early crawler and walker....so maybe my kids are just like me...impatient.
Let's see...he loves it when I say "Mama" and "Daddy." I came home from a gig the other night singing "Never Let Me Go," and Vaughn seemed to especially love this song. He also just loves it when you talk to him, in a normal voice...just a conversation. Daddy is good at this. Of course, he adores Juliette and any time she is in the room he can't take his eyes off of her.
Sleeping...you know, he still wakes up to eat two or three times, but I don't complain because he takes several good naps during the day. I am a pro at making bottles with my eyes closed...sleepwalking. Well, one night I did forget the formula, and almost fed him a bottle of filtered water. You know, I've never been good at sleeping, so it's no wonder my kids aren't a fans either....of course, I know there are ways to change this, but so far it's just my weakness as a parent. I do need to read Healthy Sleeping Habits...trust me, it's on the list...the very long list.
Last thing...my FAVORITE part. Vaughn is going to have Adrian's eye color. Sunflowers. Hazel eyes. They are starting to turn. I remember thinking when I was pregnant that I wanted a healthy baby boy with hazel eyes just like his Daddy. Now let's just hope for red hair!!! So far, just a faint strawberry blonde...but you know it's going to be a while before he has hair.
Heather, I KNOW you are not a fan of bald headed babies...but I can promise you that if your little guy lacks little locks, you will love to leave lipstick on that sweet head of his, so no worries!
We love you little Vaughn Edward!

JuJu Youtube
It's official, JuJu's a YouTube star, jk.
Here is a video of Juliette singing at church for Talents and Traditions night. It's the first, and only, song that she has ever asked me to teacher her. Singing is on her terms. I've never expected Juliette to be a singer just because it's what I am good it, and I don't push. Having said that, I think I come off as a total stage mom in this video. Anyway, it's not about me, it's about Juliette...my little 4 year old singing on stage. I have to admit, I was grinning from ear to ear. She seemed so proud of herself, and that brings me pure joy.

Here Comes The Sun...
65 in February, in KC....and answer to prayers all over the Midwest! We spent the afternoon at Penguin Park. This is as Caroline would say, the "diseased bear" park. Parents kind of cringe at the thought of it but every kid loves this park. It's an oldie but a goodie I guess. We went on a nature walk after playing and that was nice. Not a lot to see here that's not brown and dead but the sun was shining and that was enough.
Funny story and I WISH I had a photo for it. JuJu and Olivia were on the merry go round with about five others. Some kiddo's very tall and strong Dad was pushing the merry go round so they were going super fast...vomit fast. Anyway, Olivia weighs about ten pounds and in the middle of their speedy rotation she lost her grip. All I saw next was Olivia completely horizontal, holding on with one hand. Reminded me of a cat on a ceiling fan. She let go after about three rotations and tumbled a bit but given her size, she just bounced right back up. Thanks goodness. If only I had it on film...it was you tube worthy for sure. Sweet Olivia.
Iowa pics, and Rock Band Review
A few pics from our weekend in Iowa where we were so happy to meet little Jack, Elaine's baby...Vaughn and Juliette's new cousin! Another boy, yipeee!!! Baby Jack made Vaughn look like a giant. Then again, Vaughn is a giant baby. He's huge yawl. I'm talking, already in 9-12 month clothes at five months. He looks so much like I did as a baby...big bald head and chubby thighs. We had a wonderful time and are so happy for Elaine.
While in Iowa, we were finally able to play Rock Band. We have not had time to even watch tv here in KC, much less play xbox games. My official review of Rock Band.....I give it a 2 out of 10. Sorry everyone, I KNOW it's the latest craze, but it's not for me. Bad bad bad song selection and frankly, I was bored with it. Here's the thing.... I prefer a real guitar over that weird simulated plastic thing. Also, watching the screen just made me feel like I was being hypnotized...sort of dizzy and brain fried.
So I tried the singing part, thinking it would be right up my alley....Black Hole Sun is not a fun song to sing...it pretty much bored me into a coma. Yaw'l know I'm not above much, but I guess when it comes to music, I am a big ole snob. Plus, I pretty much hate all types of video games, including the Wii. I don't care if they say you are getting "exercise." Having said all of that, I do like that Rock Band can include the whole family...and it's good for all ages. Traci was nice to bring her set up to Honey's house.
I get why people like Garage and Rock Band, it's just not my cup of tea. I'm old fashioned in some ways, and this is one of them. Sorry everyone. Don't hate me for it. When I tell people I don't like Rock Band, they react the same way as when I tell them I also hate the Indigo Girls...shock and horror....gasp!!!

Just a dream
I am having a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. I would shave my head for good news, or a really, really funny joke.
Last night I had a dream that Adrian and I were on a warm beach at sunset. I took a photo of him and he was beautiful. He was walking in front of me. There were seashells to find, and surfers out....and I was skipping around in my favorite red bikini, because, this being a dream, I was in fantastic shape. Then Juliette was in the dream, and Vaughn. I was so happy. There was music in the air, literally. Ethereal music...like angels humming in the clouds. We had a beach house, right there next to the surf. I think we were in Miami. I know it was Florida...where I spent vacations with my family growing up. Having dreams like this are wonderful...I am grateful for good dreams...the bad part about this dream was that I had to wake up. And it is cold today...very cold. I woke up. I wanted to cry. At least one good part of my dream was a reality...my family. They are here, beach or not.
My agent called to chastise me for not having a business suit for a commercial...sorry, I have never had a need for a business suit. I don't even know what one would look like.
My Realtor called. Offer fell through. She needs more paper work....they may have to reduce price because this market is in the toilet etc.....
People came to look at our house while we were in Iowa...no call no notice, and the it was a mess...(see slumber party post)
More calls...more emails I did not enjoy reading. No answer when I called a friend.
Snowball...snowball....and boom. I am moping. Just one of those days....months...years.
So today, at least I can think about my dream, knowing that one day...preferably this year...it will be a reality.

Slumber Parties
What a weekend for Juliette! She earned it. Friday night, Allison took her to see Elmo Live. Juliette stayed the night with Allison and her two little nephews. So, yeah...JuJu had a slumber party with a couple of boys. According to Allison, they stayed up until 1 am, and woke up at 6. God Bless Allison. Saturday night, I picked up Milan to come stay the night with us so that her Mommy (Randi) and Daddy could have a night allllll alone! Well, Olivia is just right down the street and I owed her Mom a favor, so we had her over as well...another slumber party, only no boys allowed this time, except Vaughn of course.
These girls....I just love them. They had a ball. They completely turned the house upside down but I did not mind one bit. Playing the piano, making cupcakes, eating pizza, taking a bubble bath, checkers, pedicures, dress up, movies, and Juliette even told a scary story. I love the last picture. Olivia was OUT...Milan and Juliette were so determined to stay up as late as possible, trying to keep their eyes open to Brother Bear.
I love having Juliette's friend's over, I really do. It makes me happy...reminds me of my mother. My Mom was the best! When I had sleepovers...she always had fun ideas, yummy snacks...I knew she loved making it a special event. I am the same way, as it brings me joy to hear their giggles and see them smile. Really, I had just as much fun as the girls...this sleepover was as much for me as Juliette, I confess.

I look at these pictures and get emotional. I can't help but wonder what will become of Juliette and her early childhood friends. We will most likely move away. Olivia will probably move in a few years. Milan will be breaking hearts all over Kansas City. I wish they could all graduate together...but this is not Camden, and times have changed. I just have to be happy that Juliette will always cherish her first friends. When I think of the possibility of moving to a new place, I am hopeful and excited...but also sad and scared. You can make new friends, but there won't be a Milan...or Olivia...or Capri....or Aunt Allison...I could go on and on but that is another blog for another day. Right now, I am thankful for fun times with my JuJu.
