It is almost four in the morning....but I took an extra
loooong nap today, and tonight I vowed to stay up as late as it takes to finish the laundry. So I am waiting for the last load to finish
drying and then I will surely pass out in less than a second. In the mean time, I have to blog about two funny stories...a friend just reminded me of one of them...anyway...wanna laugh? Here is goes
First Story...it's a heart warmer. Last week I took
JuJu, Olivia, and Vaughn to
Chipotle.
Chipotle is not in our budget right now, but they had been so good...and I was desperate to get them to eat without having to destroy my already destroyed kitchen. So we went. The whole time I was feeling guilty for going out of our budget. Adrian and I have promised to avoid wasting money eating out. Let's face it...eating out adds up and is somewhat of a waste. But anyway, there we were. I was having a hard time keeping the table and floor clean, trying to get the five year
olds to eat and the one year old not to throw his food. We looked kinda rough that day, but not Orphan Annie rough....just no makeup and I let my child dress herself rough.
A very sweet woman...mid thirties, black, beautiful, and had braces. Vaughn was flirting with her...smiling,
talkin to her. I was too busy picking up chips that fell on the floor. Oblivious to Vaughn and his new friend.
On our way out, I stopped to get a refill on drinks. She approached me and said, "Would you allow me to give you a blessing?"
Me: "Oh sure, always...
let's do it" I closed my eyes
geting ready to listen to her prayer.
She took my hand and I looked up in shock...she was just trying to give me a twenty dollar bill.
I could only muster up the words, "Thank you."
But what I really wanted to say was, "AMEN Sista!!!!!!"
It wasn't because I was not wearing makeup or looking nice....it was not because my kids were being rowdy. But I tell you...that whole meal, all I could think about was money...and how I owe my parents...and I need to pay my musicians...and how the PTA needs money...and
gymastics, and my lawyer, and so forth....
Perhaps without me saying a word, this woman knew. She knew what was on my mind. Maybe she was divinely inspired. I was humbled and grateful. God Bless HER!!!! pay it fwd.
FUNNY STORY #2
I was singing at a fancy
venue on the Plaza. With my Brazilian Jazz Trio.
At one point, in between songs, I exclaimed so
passionately, "HOW about Rio getting the Olympics, how WONDERFUL!, wooohoooo!!!!"
Immediately, a couple from Chicago...her husband yelled at me, "Yeah, well we are from
Chicago."
Without thinking twice, I replied, "
Awww,
well maybe you should look into taking a
vacay to Rio!" Big smile on my face, totally genuine...not sarcastic at all.
He was out of there before I could even raise my eyebrows, realizing that I had just OOOffended someone...because OOObama and OOOprah "failed" their mission.
So for the first time ever, I actually ran customers out of the venue. Luckily, the staff got a kick out of it and I did not get into trouble. But really, what's up? We can't be happy for Rio? Really? We have it all here in the USA...can we give RIO the Olympics....I mean...we've already had the event not too long ago. Anyway, I thought it was funny.
Hey Chicago...get over yourselves and go to Rio where it's WARM!!! And their music is sooo much better. kay I beter stop now.
That's all...my two funny stories...probably not funny unless you were there. Oh well.
