Pinnacles Desert

About half way in between Geraldton and Perth is a desert that has these rock formations that jut out of the sand. So how was it formed? Apparently, bits of shells would break off and travel with the wind to they would get deposited over the sand dunes in this desert area, and after the winter rains, they apparently formed these huge formations. The tallest being about 4 meters high (which is about 12 feet)!

Jurien Bay

On our way home from Geraldton, we stopped off in many small towns to stop and enjoy the sites. One of our favorite places was Jurien Bay. We just thought this small beach town had a fabulous beach.

Yes, I am wearing shorts! My first pair of shorts (besides workout shorts or board shorts) in at least five years!

Geraldton

We went to Geraldton this past weekend. Geraldton is a town that is about four and a half hours north of Perth. It was a nice trip. We had lots of fun, laughs and good times. Hope you enjoy the pics!

On our way up to Geraldton, we saw all of these kites from the highway, so we turned off onto a road, and saw hundreds of kite surfers...check it out!


Just outside of Geraldton, you can really see the strength of the southern winds, by the growth of the trees. No the tree is not cracked or broken, there were several trees that grew like this because of the wind!

Out and about in Perth

After being told all week by the meteorologist on every news channel that it was meant to rain all weekend in Perth, I decided to not make any plans. As you can see from the pictures below, it was raining "really hard" (Ha Ha). I think the next time I am told that, I will make plans anyway :-)

Jeremy played golf on Friday (sorry no pictures, he forgot the camera in his backpack), but he said that it was the hardest yet one of the nicest courses he has ever played. I think his favorite were all the kangaroo's that were present.

I did have to camera as we were out and about in Perth, and snapped some of these shots.

This first set of pictures are taken of Swan River on the East Side of Perth. Swan River runs all throughout Perth (it is the River by Downtown Perth, that Jeremy and I run/walk/ride by all the time), down to Fremantle and out into the Indian Ocean.
