Then we headed over to the Normandy region of France....
This was such an emotional trip. It made us even more grateful for each man and woman who serves their country. May God bless and be with all our soldiers fighting for freedom.
This trip has forever changed me.
A little history...Over 70 years ago, WWII was in full force. It began in Sept 1939 when Germany officially invaded Poland. On June 6, 1944 Operation Neptune, or the Normandy Invasion took place. The lives that were lost were not in vain- the invasion led to liberating France from the Germans and aided in the allied troops victory in 1945.
Going to the beaches, museum's, memorials, cemeteries, etc was such an emotional experience. I have not posted everything, but here are some highlights...
Omaha Beach
The US 1st and 29th Infantry divisions battled the Germans to have control of this area. Do to all the lost lives- it quickly became known as bloody Omaha.
American Cemetery
Point du Hoc
This point is where Lt. Col. James E. Rudder and the 2nd Ranger Battalion landed and then climbed the cliffs to take over the German positions.
British beaches, and pictures. This was where the artificial harbor was..
German Cemetery
A stark difference from the other cemeteries.

Mont St Michel
Afternoon tea and some shopping (Granddad said, he handed in his man card this day- haha- poor Granddad)
We also headed to the London Aquarium...

We loved every second that they were here with us, and are ready for them to return :-)Wonderful memories were created and will forever be cherished. Thank you two for coming- see you back here in the Fall ;-)
