New Year's Eve in London
Living abroad we have been gifted with so many opportunities to see different parts of the world- and we are beyond grateful with every one of these experiences. We never imaged New Years Eve in London- and we have to say, London did a phenomenal job with the security, the fireworks were amazing and the experience over all. It should be on everyone's bucket list :)
Our Germany & Austria Christmas Adventure
This year we had the pleasure of staying on this side of the world for Christmas, plus we were able to host family and have a wonderful adventure.
Since Dad was already with us in the UK, we all headed over and our first stop was in Cologne, Germany. Here we did a bit of sight seeing and a lot of Christmas Market shopping :)
Our next stop was Munich, Germany!!! We met up with Ash & fam here, and as you will see the four littles were so thrilled- it had been a year since they had seen one another! Again, lots of sight seeing, fun with the fam, and shopping at the markets... and have, I mentioned all the delicious food? Yum!!!
From our stay in Munich we then started to head south to a few of King Ludwig's Castle's then East to Kitzbuhl! The Neuschwanstein Castle is one of the most visited castles in Germany and is known as the Fairytale Castle. Sleeping Beauties Castle was designed off of it (the white castle photographed below).
That night we made it to Kitzbuhl but then the next morning we headed north for a bit more admiring of Kind Ludwig's Castle, this time we visited the Herrenchiemsee Castle - You are not allowed to take pictures in any of them, but if you have visited Versaille just outside of Paris this will look familiar to you, as King Ludwig was trying to make his own Versaille. He greatly admired King Louis XIV but this was a bit more grande and extravagant. Inside this castle, is a table that actually lowers with the floor, while another floor takes its place, to then have is elevated again with all the food actually on the table. This castle was no doubt over the top.
That afternoon and night we spent some time in Salzburg, Austria- and oh, wow! One of our favorite cities for sure!
Here is the beautiful town of Kitzbuhl- it is considered the Aspen of the Alps apparently. It was so much fun going around with my dad and hearing his stories, finding the street he use to live on, the bars he use to hang out in, etc. What a wonderful experience.
Christmas in Austria :)
We actually had our Christmas a bit early in England, but wanted the children to wake up still to a sack of fun little bits :)Then we spent the day together, and went to the Aquaworld and the children loved it! (indoor, of course).
Then next few days were dedicated to skiing and then my sister and her hubs headed to Paris for a week, while we headed back with her kiddos :) We explored more on the way home. We visited the old Army base and the place my dad use to live. We stopped and stayed in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg- SORRY, no pics- I had four littles I was watching after, but I was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful of it!
Here are some pics of a detour we made to see my dad's old army base and where he lived... loved hearing the stories he told us. I feel like I learned so much about him, I would had never known had it not been for this trip.
Then for my Dad and my sis and her fam they got to see bits of where we currently call home... London.
