Pinewood Derby

Trenton participated in his last Pinewood Derby this week as this is his last year of Cub Scouts. He was a great sport and tried to not worry about winning.

This year's car. Simple and efficient. He wanted a blue car again this year as he has had the past two years, but eventually decided a new color would be good.

It is a rare occasion when everyone is awake when Trenton goes to school because his bus comes an hour before Ashleigh's, so it was cute to capture them hanging out before Trenton caught the bus. And, yes, Ashleigh is eating Tostitos for breakfast for some strange reason. I hadn't noticed this until I posted the picture. She normally eats a bowl of Apple Jacks every single morning, but this was a strange morning.

We took Dad to the zoo on an unusually warm day last week. Sadly, most of the animals were off display for winter.

House Party

There is a really great website called http://www.houseparty.com/ where you can apply to "host" a party for companies that are trying to market their new products. As a host you receive a free party pack filled with the products the company wants you to showcase at your party thus spreading the word about the new product.
I was selected to be a host for Jell-o Pudding and "Your Shape" (a new Wii game by Jenny McCartney) a few weeks ago. I received the Wii game plus a bonus Dance Party Wii game that was a real hit at the party, coupons for 5 boxes of the new Jell-o Mousse pudding snacks, silverware, napkins, and party favors for all my guests. I felt like I won the lottery!


Nathan got the adults going on the dance party Wii game. It was hilarious!

The kids took over the dance game once all the adults had a turn. It is Ashleigh's new favorite game. She loves "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun."

Fun in the Snow

Cincinnati got its first "big" (wow, 2-3 inches!!) snow for the season today, so we took the kids sledding at a nearby park. Everyone had a lot of fun and managed to bear the cold except for Mom who sat in the warm van most of the time. Even Ashleigh was brave enough to go down the big hill this time.

It took them a few times down the hill to figure out who needed to sit in front to go the fastest.

As always, Ashleigh made a friend who shared her awesome intertube sled with her. So cute! It was the best sled out there. Trenton thinks we need one of those for next time.

Ashleigh was having so much fun that she decided to start going down backwards while laying down. Crazy girl! Amazingly, we didn't have any injuries.

For some reason that I never quite figured out, Trenton insisted on climbing up the hill each time carrying his sled instead of walking up the stairs like everyone else. Maybe he thought he could climb faster without waiting for those in front of him. It was very funny to me and looked like a lot of work. He said he was covered in sweat when we headed home...well, I wonder why!
