Sunday Sermon...

Yeah for the weekend. This week was a little crazy, I worked nights, which means JD and I didn't get to see each other as much and the week flew by. JD had lots of homework and we were both so grateful for the weekend! We had a fun weekend attending the BYU vs. UNLV, a crazy game that kept us guessing till the last second because BYU's defense was not really stopping UNLV. We got to go to the BYU's Final Cut- lots of shorts made by students in the media majors. It was lots of fun and there were some really good ones. We went to dinner with the Hickenloopers and just had a nice fun evening. Today we got the oppertunity to teach Gospel Doctrine. We taught 3 Nephi 17-19. I love those chapters because they are so neat with all the miracles. Christ institutes the sacrament and teaches them about prayer and about being one with Christ and the Father. I felt it went well. I feel so often inadequate and under qualified to teach, but the Lord has given us each talents and abilities to share with others, so I hope that what we prepare and teach can make a difference, it definately helps me. Well JD is anxious to go eat with the Hickenloopers so I better leave it at that. Have a wonderful fall week!

Death by Horned Toad

Rest in peace BYU football. "Theres always next year" is being heard all over campus right now. Last Thursday is a day that will live in infamy. BYU went into the TCU game highly favored by almost everyone, yet things turned out much different. BYU didn't show up with their A game while TCU, with the number one defense in the nation, had been preparing for this game since January. While I was hoping to be able to watch BYU play in a BCS bowl game its looking very unlikely, if not impossible. BYU went from being ranked 9th in the nation to 21st! Quite the drop. Well BYU, get your head in the game and pray things fall just right so you can at least win the MWC title. If the cougars keep playing the way they did against TCU I don't see it happening.

Lambert Park

Here is the license plate that has our motto stamped into it: PLAYBIG. Thats what we do. I'm sure you've heard the saying "All work and no play, made Jack a dull boy." Liz and I like to avoid going anywhere near that extreme. So this Saturday we decided to go to Lambert Park in Alpine and go mountain biking. I'm sure your tired of seeing pictures of us mountain biking, but incase your not, feast your eyes on these beauties.
Here is a nice picture of what the area looked like that we were mountain biking in. It was gorgeous with all the colors and leaves.
It was actually a really cool track. It had a really fun downhill section that had some fun hills and turns. Here is a picture of Liz blazing her own trail...actually just riding on the one that was there...but it was still way fun.
When we got done we were right by Cabella's so I begged Liz to let us stop. The store was so so (don't hate me Steve) but they had this really cool exhibit in the middle with all these stuffed animals and live trout that were the size of me...well...almost. After we got home and destinkified we went grocery shopping for 3 hours. Woohoo! What an adventurous saturday!

I got to see Music and the Spoken Word this Sunday and it was beautiful! 

Another shot of our lovely apartment~ I really like it, JD and I have had fun making it home! Today I heard a really neat thing in sacrament about the work "crisis". The speaker said that in Chinese it is made up of two characters: one for danger and one for oppertunity. How true that God knows us and will allow difficult times to come so that we may have oppertunity to learn and draw closer to Him. Life is going great- JD is busy with school and especially with Pol Sci 200 if any of you have taken that class and know . I am busy with orienting in the more intensive side of the nursery, meaning that I am learning how to care for babies on ventilators and go on high risk deliveries. It is scary but neat to learn and there is so much for me to learn! So there is us at the moment! Happy Fall!

Rise and Shout, the Cougars are Out!

GAME DAY IS HERE!!! I can imagine every one who is around me here in Utah is sick of hearing game day come out of my mouth. Ever since Liz and I have moved to Provo a part of my soul has awoken that laid dormant for years. That is my love for cougar football! I know there are those of you out there who share this love and unfortunately don't live in cougar town and can't come to the games or watch them with us when they are away. So I decided today I wanted to try something. Now this might be a complete failure (more than likely) or it will be the coolest thing since sliced bread. What I thought would be fun would be any time there is an away game I will make a post about the game. Then during the game while everyone is watching it in their various locations we will post comments about the game so its like we are all watching it at the same place! So how this works is click on the name of the post, in this case its "Rise and Shout, the Cougars are Out!", then you can post and see what others post. I imagine posts don't get pushed (meaning you don't have to refresh) so if your going to join in on the fun make sure you refresh your browser every once and a while.
