Rivalry Week Update

This week is the week. Yes, THE week. The week where Utah has a BCS bowl on the line and BYU has a confrence title on the line. Many times in the past unfornate events have happened on the turf of both of these schools by poor sportsmen. So in the spirit of good sportmanship I give you some U of U humor. Nothing says "lets be friends" like a good laugh at the cost of the other person. So here ya go:

What do you get when you drive past the U really slow?
A bachellors Degree
But you may ask, what good is a degree from the U?
Unknown to many, if you place a U of U degree on your dashboard you can park in any handicap spot in the state!

What do U of U students and BYU students have in commom?
They applied to BYU first

In an elementary school in Salt Lake City a 2nd grade teacher asked how many students thought Utah was going to win the game this week. All but one boy raised their hands. The teacher turned to the boy and asked, "You're a BYU fan?!" in disbelief. The boy said, "Well, my dad is a cougar, and my mom is a cougar, so I guess that makes me a cougar too." The teacher, obviously unliking the boys response then asked sarcastically, "well if your dad was a moron, and your mom was a moron, what would that make you?" The boy thought for a moment then answered, "A Utah fan I guess."

Ha Ha, hopefully you enjoyed those great Utah jabs. I have to give my physical science teacher the credit for those great tidbits.

Well after getting that out of my system I guess I can update everyone on what we've been up to.

Well, yours truly was getting a little shaggy so Liz decided she needed to give me a buzz. At about the same time Wendy decieded that Scott was looking a little shaggy himself so we had a hair cutting party.

Liz got a hair cut!

Liz has been talking about wanting to get here hair cut for some time now.  I didn't know if she was saying she wanted to get her hair cut like I say I need to grow up, which we all know isn't going to happen anytime soon, or if she was serious.  On Saturday I found out the answer!

So who did we trust to cut Liz's hair?  Only the most famous hair stylist in Provo!...ok well almost.  It was my great sister Jenna!  She is currently attending Bon Losse in Provo and will be done in April.  As her pin says, she does hair.

Land that I Love

The day after the election I was trying to put my thoughts together about how I felt.  Obama had been elected president.  Liberals and the liberal media had got their dream.  Anyone who knows me knows that I hate losing and hate being wrong even worse.  This was a combination of both.  As I was letting hate well up inside of me,words of wisdom came to my mind:

Between stimulus and response, there is a space. In that space lies our freedom and power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and freedom. - Victor Frankl

As I have contemplated those words I have realized I was letting my pride get in the way of something much larger, something much more important; the good of this country.  I was letting my distaste of a certain political philosophy blind me to what I should be thinking.  As Americans we all have the choice of how to react to this election.  Anyone spending time reading our blog probably didn't get the outcome they would have liked in this election.  We can choose to be upset and hope Obama fails miserably so we can get another conservative president in four years, or we can sincerely hope and pray for his success.  

As I have now had time to let the "stimulus" works its way through my mind I know now what must be done.  I will support my future president and pray that he will be successful.  I hope everyone will join me in hoping for the future of this country.  May God bless America, this land that I love!

Also, in one last note, if you didn't get a chance to hear McCain's concession speech or Obama's victory speech please watch them.  It will give you a sense of pride in this country that we need going forward.  Lets hope that Obama can be the president he claims he will be and not the liberal U.S. senator he has been.

Merry Christmas?

Yeah I am overloading on the blogging for today but just one more picture! If you know JD then this all makes sense... It would have been on November 1st instead of November 4th!
Yes this is what it looked like outside when JD decided the Christmas tree needed to go up!

Here is JD hard at work on our 6'5'' Norway Fir... yes a real tree would die on December 1st if you put it up this early.

Ok the next day, today it snowed! For all my sarcasm I really am excited too and I love that JD is excited to decorate and enjoy the season for all he can! I love it! Sometimes it is like having a little kid around with JD, but who could ask for a better way to have the most fun in life and treasure memories, and it isn't like I have any room to talk (here insert my excited giggle that JD makes fun of:)

Sometimes I have discovered that blogging really isn't something I am good at and I can't get things to go the way that I want... so observe the next few posts and see how I tried to get them side by side but failed miserably. Well I tried! We really had lots of fun with this so I hope you enjoy looking at it!

Well I hope you enjoyed our pictures- we had fun going out to eat and to Blockbuster all dressed up! Wendy and I had lots of fun looking for costume stuff at DI as well! Yeah for dress up!

Pumpkin Carving...

So I kinda did these backwards, but here is the finished product. If you couldn't guess, JD's is the first going from left to right, then mine, then Wendy's and Scott's. We had lots of fun carving and getting in the mood for Halloween!
