Happy Halloween!

These first two pictures are not Halloween..just an activity we did on Sunday. We played with beads and JD made this and a lizard. 

 I am not sure why Cami is holding this thing of beads like that... she wanted to hold the beads rather than the cute lizard and pumpkin that JD and I made... or the necklace which she took apart after. It was a fun little activity to do together.

 Ok here are the Halloween pictures... Tuesday night we had the ward Fall Carnival. 

 Cami was excited to be a fairy like Abby off Sesame Street.

 Cami loved the cupcake walk, we were there for like 20 minutes! She loved running in circles, and yes loved the cupcakes. Cami used to be pretty indifferent to sweets...not anymore! She loves them! Uh oh! She ate three of the mini cupcakes and wanted more! We had to tell her to leave her candy in the bucket when we went trunker-treating!

 Tonight we went Trick-or-Treating with some of our friends. We had a pot luck and then drove out to China Springs and let the kids trick-or-treat. It was fun, even though we had a bit of a melt down in the middle before the trick-or-treat part because some one wanted to run around crazy and then "I do it" to get in the car and strap in...which doesn't work so well.

 But we recovered right as rain and had a great time trick-or-treating and she was so cute about saying "tickerteat" and "tank you" She sure made a cute little fairy! Hope everyone enjoyed a very happy Halloween!

I guess I should explain this picture. Originally I wanted to do a family themed costume. JD and I were to be a box of nerds and Cami the little nerd, then I realized that Cami's costume might be pretty boring (just pink clothes, which she wears all the time) so I wanted her to dress up cute, but I had already made this part of the costume. JD was late to the Fall Carnival on account of finals starting this Saturday, and he wasn't very thrilled about it anyway, so I dressed up like a nerd with pigtails and freckles and glasses and JD was just JD. So I wanted to take this picture to show we did have intentions to dress up :)

Pumpkin Carving Time!

Saturday night we carved our pumpkins! Cami liked scooping the yucky stuff out for about as long as it took to take this picture...then she got some on her hand and she was done. She also didn't get to use the knife, but she did get to draw on the pumpkin, so that was good. Note to self get mini pumpkins next year and paint, then she can do more!

Farm Day

Last Saturday Cami and I hit up farm days to get out of the house so JD could study. It was pretty fun to go. 

 Here we are watching a goat milking demonstration. Looks just like cows milk, but I am not sure how it tastes... I think I have tried it before but it was a very long time ago, and I didn't try it here.

 Cami enjoyed the petting area, I can't say I have ever pet a chicken, but these ladies were pretty mild and let the little ones pet them.

 Cami liked the goats and did pet them although I was too slow to get a picture of her in the act. This particular goat was named Cookie. Yes, Cami does have her sunglasses on upside down, she put them on and wanted them that way.

 We got to count the piggies.

 Our friends the Ellsworth's were there and it was a good thing. We were waiting for the hay ride and they just played in the rocks...for like 20 minutes! Awesome! We also got to go paint a picture with vegetables. Dip them in paint, how cool is that? They had cut shapes in potatoes but you can cut onions and apples in half and stamp with them and also broccoli. Pretty fun stuff. 

 The hay ride was really a trailer with hay pulled behind a truck, but still fun. We were able to get some cute pictures there too!

 Cami actually "took" this picture of her friend Michael and his mom Sherry, and I really liked it so here it is!

Fire Station Field Trip

Today we went to the fire station on a preschool field trip (Thanks to Shanna for setting it up). It was a little in depth for their age group, but it was lots of fun to get a tour of the police/fire station, since in Woodway they are a public safety unit and they are both policeman and firemen. They gave us a tour and let the kids see the trucks and climb up in them and see the fire hose and the officer got up in all his gear and talked to the kids about not being scared of the firemen when they come to help even though they are all dressed up because underneath they are still the officer. I think it was good, I just think Cami was a little young to get most of it :) At the end they all got little fireman hats!

Pumpkins and such

Last Monday we had a family home evening on missionaries! We made badges and Cami was very excited about hers.

 Since we are too busy to go real camping, I gave Cami the camping 101 in our living room. Here is our "tent" with our "fire" and the "toast" we cooked by our fire. Cami thought it was pretty funny stuff. We even went on a "hike" around the kitchen table and climbed "mountains" (chairs).

 I thought we should get a little into fall with a walk at the Arboretum in Woodway. They had some cute scarecrows and pumpkins so I did a little photo shoot with Cami.

 I am sad this one is blurry, cute smile anyway though.

We are busy, as usual. JD is finally getting better from his nasty respiratory infection and luckily Cami and I have avoided it thus far. JD is getting ready for finals in the next couple weeks so we are hoping it goes ok since he has been sick so much of this quarter.

This n' That

Cami has a thing about textures and in an effort to help her, and just because it is fun, we pull out some sand and sea shells every once in a while and play. Cami still doesn't like to put her hands in the sand, so she uses spoons and measuring cups, but it is a start!

 I feel like I should say something about her crazy hair, I do try to do her hair, but after naps and if we are not going anywhere then she just looks a little crazy! I only do hair once a day.

 Who doesn't love bubbles? She has become so independent, it is fun sometimes, but sometimes just frustrating. 

 I made a witch hat for a party this last week and Cami made such a cute model!

Here is a video of Cami dancing... She loves dancing and JD was playing some music in the kitchen while doing the dishes.

Growing Pains

Yep, it has been a little while, but I will once again make the excuse that we have been very busy around here. I picked up an extra shift this last week and education stuff has kept me making lots of trips to and from work, plus I have been busy with Young Women stuff and of course Cami!

Cami started a preschool class which has been lots of fun, but we have missed a lot already due to colds and other scheduling conflicts. It is good for Cami to be with other kids and learn things and have some structure. We take turns teaching and being helpers and teach things like letters and colors and numbers and shapes. One of the moms is teaching Spanish so Cami learned that "rojo means red".  We were couped up inside this weekend because of torrential downpours and I was catching up on some sleep, and JD wasn't feeling well. I was able to go to the Relief Society Broadcast, and was so grateful for the Spirit I felt there. That along with Sunday has helped recharge my "spiritual batteries". I really needed to hear those messages about the Atonement and about service and heeding promptings.

 At the zoo

 I made Cami a pocket from a pair of worn out jeans and we went on a "treasure hunt" outside to find things to put in it...ie rocks, flowers, acorns.

 I decided Cami needed to paint with real paints not just finger paints so I pulled out a wood circle from a bag of wood scraps I had and let her have fun. I need to make her a craft apron so we doesn't ruin my cute one though ;)

Today we went to the zoo with some friends here is Cami and Eli playing and below that a fun video of the playful tiger cubs.

Last Saturday we were able to go to the temple with some friends and switched off babysitting. It was a good session and the kiddos did pretty well and I was very grateful we got to go. I always feel such peace in the temple and feel so close to my sweet husband. One of Cami's favorite songs is the "temple" song or "I love to see the temple" and she always asks for that song and "I am a Child of God" before bed and naptime.  That Saturday night was the ward talent show, which is always fun and we had some good participation and attendance. I let JD talk me into singing and playing, but the microphone system wasn't working so half of the audience couldn't hear anyway. 

I think that is pretty much our last two weeks in a nut shell, JD has had a slower quarter than last year, but has still been working hard and been sweet to help out at home. We have discovered a couple new fun games on our ipad and love to just relax and have some fun in the evenings when I am not working.
