poppin' champagne, livin' the lifemy weekend, edited for maximum coolness:so i was relaxing with a margarita in Denver sunday on the way back from a party in the Central West End saturday night when the line producer for my next movie called. she needed to know if the shooting dates were ok with me and, if possible, to schedule my fitting. "the date is fabulous with me, babe, but the fitting will have to be near the end of the month, after i jet back from ireland," i replied.
my weekend, keepin' it real edition:i was killing a 2 and a half hour layover in the denver airport, drinking a "margarita" that may perhaps once have waved at some tequila but, if so, seemed to not have been too affected by the encounter.
i had just spent 2 hours on a plane named Sheldon watching mythbusters reruns and a
remarkably awful sci-fi channel movie after 24 hours spent on the ground in st. louis to attend a wedding.
my cell was actually set to silent, but i happened to glance down and see the glowing (425) area code that indicated an incoming call. "shit," i thought, "i should've emailed the line producer."
friday night i'd received an email detailing the shoot dates, etc, for a short film i was frankly surprised to find i'd been cast in. 9 days before, i'd been summoned to a reading and, not realizing he meant 'audition reading,' wore my glasses. i don't mind how i look bespectacled, i just know it's a visual pigeonholer. the email indicated i'd actually been cast and would be doing some green screen shooting in mid-november. i meant to respond in the affirmative to the suggested date but C0mcast apparently took friday night off to go party.
the last time i was in a filmed project, i spent the day in zombie makeup and pajamas with increasingly soggy feet.
before that (by several years) i was cast in a christmas movie which we filmed inside a house in st. louis in july with the ac turned off because it interfered with the mics.
i apologized to the line producer for not getting back to her sooner and said the proposed date was just fine with me, as my only planned activity in november so far was thanksgiving.
i am, however, actually going to ireland in october, so i did advise her my fitting would have to wait a bit. i did not call her babe, though. pure fiction, that.
