Our December has been sooo busy that we haven't had anytime to even blog, but today I actually have time to catch up and blog all the fun things that have been going on. So here it goes:
On December 2nd we left on a first family vacation to Salt Lake City, Utah to visit some friends and check out some real estate. (Yes we would consider living in Utah. Its really not so bad.) We had plans to see the sights, visit with friends, play in some snow and just have a good ol' relaxing time. And we did just that.
On the way up to Utah we stopped to get gas in Vegas and decided to get the boys out to stretch their legs. Come to find out that logan had peeded through his clothes and his carseat. What a mess! So we popped the trunk got some clean clothes and changed him and set him on a plastic bag in his carseat so that his clean clothes wouldn't soak up the urine in his carseat. We then drove to St. George and let the kids get out there too, but this time we walked the grounds and went to the visitors center. Dave and I had never been to the
St. George Temple and wanted to check it out. It truly was so beautiful I love the architecture of the building. When we were walking on the grounds of the Temple Luke looked up and said, "Daddy, look the Temple has a bow and arrow on the top!" I was like what is he talking about, but sure enough instead of an Angel Moroni there was a compass where the Angel Moroni usually stands. We look around a little more and got to see some exhibits, visited the bathroom a few more time before we made the rest of trek.
Thursday we went with our friends Chris and Marilyn to Riverton and drive by some houses that I had found online. Some looked cute and we made an appointment Monday to go and see them Later we went to the
Festival of Trees and looked around. They had a childrens area where they had booths for the kids to do things. Luke got to do this bubble machine check him out!
Later that night we bundled up and went to
Temple Square to go and see the
Mormon Tabernacle Choir practice. I was so cold! 18 degrees. The hot chocolate wasn't even hot it was warm and got cold fast. We were told that they practiced in the Tabernacle on Temple Square but soon found out that they were actually in the conference center across the street where we had just walked from. We made a quick stop at the potty and ran to the conference center but made only just in time to closed doors. We had missed it. Dave was really disappointed he really wanted to see hear them. We walked back the car all cold and disappointed hoping that maybe we could get another chance to see them.
Friday we got to see Brooke and the girls. We were so excited to see them and their new house. We got to chat and catch up on things. The kids played while we visited. We love you guys thanks for letting us come and play!
Later while the boys slept Marilyn and I went to the mall and shopped around. I found the cutest pair of boots I was super excited.
Saturday we went back to temple square to take a tour of the
Beehive house I had never seen it before and was really excited to do so. It was fun to walk around and see the history in that house. The architecture and furnishings. I loved the Christmas decorations so much that I took a ton of pictures! We later had lunch at the
Lion House Pantry and let the kids play in the snow. Luke loved to make footprints in the snow.
Sunday Dave got up early and went to see the
Music and the Spoken Word. I stayed home with the boys and got ready for church. We went to sacrament meeting with Chris and Marilyn and then Marilyn and I left with the boys to get dinner ready so Dave and I could go to the
First Presidency Christmas Devotional. Dave had gotten tickets for us to go and we were so excited! Getting there was a little stressful because we had kind of a tight time line and we needed to get in our seats before 5:30 or they would give our tickets away. So we had to park in a garage that was a few blocks away from the conference center so we parked and ran all the way there. So we made it inside and were looking for our seats. We were directed to plaza 6 and we were told to pick a seat anywhere. So we went as close as we could. 4 ROWS FROM THE PODIUM! It was so cool, we got to see several member of the quorum of the twelve including; Russell M. Nelson, Dallin H. Oaks, M. Russell Ballard, Neil L. Andersen and L. Tom Perry. L. Tom Perry actually sat in the nest row accross from I could have touched his if I extended my arm. And I got to be buddy, buddy with his body guard, but not enough to ask him I could get a picture, security was pretty tight. But I have to say being that close to men like that you can just feel the presence of the spirit so strongly. I just felt so lucky to have had that chance it made the devotional that more enjoyable.
Monday we went to look at some properties with a Megan a friend that used to live Ca but moved to Utah over 10+ years ago. I thought that looking at the houses would be fun but I have to say that they were a little disappointing. Good thing we were looking for real.
Tuesday we took a day off day and just watched the snow cover the ground. It was so fun we just stayed inside all day, let the boys play outside, help Dave shovel the driveway and wash the laundry.
Wednesday we headed home and while we were driving through Cedar City it got to be -17 degrees/. It was so cold the defroster and heater couldn't keep up. The picture with my hand print is actually frost! It was an interesting chilly experiece. We obviously made it home safe and got back to the grueling grind. It was a fun trip and I can't wait till the next one!
David and I were trying to explain the whole letter writing process to Santa for Luke. We have never really written one before and thought that since he really gets Christmas this year we will have him write one. So I told Luke that you should start your letter with "Dear Santa," and then you politely tell him what you would like for Christmas and that you have been a good boy. So this is how it went.
Have I ever told you how much I love my boys? I can't ever compare or measure the amount of love that I have for them. They are my life and I can't image this world without them. I am so blessed to have a wonderful husband who leads our family towards tighteous desires and sincerely cares for each of our needs. He teaches and leads by example, I hope one day to obtain that gift that he has. I love the little guys for the love and joy they bring me everyday. I love being the only girl right now!
