Karli and Jack are doing great.  We got to talk to them Sunday through Skype.  So cool!  He has Karli's eyes and nose but he definitley looks like Kyle too.  Too adorable.

Chapman University Graduation

Yesterday we had David's graduation  (FINALLY) at Chapman University!  He received a Doctorate in Physical Therapy.  You can now all call him Dr. David Didlake.  (Just kidding, he would really hate that.)

David,

We, your family, especially me, your wife are so proud of you.  We appreciate all your hard work, the time and effort it took to get here.

Temple

David and I went to the temple last night and did a sealing session.  AAhhhh, I feel so much better!  It is amazing what the temple does for your heart, mind and soul.  I woke am feeling relaxed, peaceful and that I could handle my children today. (Luke has been extremely difficult lately, I didn't think I wated more children after the last couple of days.  No really I'm serious.  Now I am reconsidering it.)  I love the feeling of no stress and that's a good thing considering we have a really full weekend and I need to be sain and pleasant! I love that I can get all that I need to do accomlished.  I already I checked off 3 things on my to do list and my kids have been Heavenly and it is only 10am!  I'm grateful that I can go to the temple and regain myself and come back a better person.  If you are feeling like I have been I urge you to go to the temple, I promise your life will benefit from it.  What your not LDS and can't go in?  Well call me and we'll walk to grounds, you can still feel the spirit and the love of your Heavenly Father there also.

Birthday Skirt!

My friend Rachel is throwing a 2yr old birthday party for her daughter Brooklyn.  (We unfortunately will be missing it because of David's graduation.)   I wanted to make her something fun to wear so I came up with this skirt.  I bought Got the fabric at JoAnns Etc. (With coupons money is tight.)  The pattern was from Grace Violet, I tweaked the pattern a little thought.  I made the panels skinnier and shorter to make it more full.  Then I added the 2 layers of tulle in two different colors.  What 2yr old wouldn't love to wear this!  I absolutely love it that I wish I could make one for myself.

Picnic Dinner

This evening when it got time to eat dinner Luke decided that he needed to have a picnic.  It being left over night we decided that it would be fun.  So we laid out a couple of blankets and enjoyed our gourmet meal of grilled cheese sandwiches and fruit salad.

Chapman DPT BBQ

A couple of Saturdays ago David's graduating DPT classmates got together for a BBQ celebrating finals being over and the last time they would see each other before graduation.  The way Chapman has it set up is kind of anti-clamatic.  You have finals, walk in May and then finish out your 16 weeks of internships during the summer.  You never get a chance to see any of your classmates again.  Kind of weird but that is Chapman for you.  Believe me when I say that David and I will not be making any donations to that wonderful school!  (I'm being totally sarcastic.)  

Anyway I'm pretty proud of my man!  He has worked super hard and we cannot believe that this long road is almost to an end! (David and I have been together almost 10yrs and I have supported him through 10 long years of him being a student!  We knew though that the outcome would be far better if we didn't stick through it.) 

I didn't think that we would ever survive.  But at last we can start the next chapter!  

I told him that being a proffessional makes him so much hotter!   

Were gonna have a Doctor in the house!

Homemade Kite

All Luke has been talking about is flying a kite.  When David was home for week after finals he took it upon himself to make one for Luke.  He looked up some directions on the internet and gathered the materials and set to work.  We later went to the park and to try it out.  Unfortunately it didn't work as well as we had hoped but Luke and Logan had a blast running with the kite flying behind them!

Easter Recap

Have you noticed a trend lately?  I have been trying to catch up on all the things that we did in April.  Anyway Easter was a blur with General Conference, egg decorating and making our way down to Vista to have an Easter Luncheon with Great Mema and Great Papa.  All in all it was fun and somewhat relaxing having David home!

We were out yesterday and Logan was obsessed with my glasses.  He finally got them right ans turn to me and says, "CHEESE!"  Well I just had to take the picture.  We train our kids so well.

Logan: Toddler

It finally has hit me that Logan  really doesn't fit in the baby stage anymore.  Even thought he us still tiny he really is more of a toddler, gosh how time flies.  He really wants a big boy bed!

Turban

Vintage Circus Baby Shower

These pictures just don't do it justice.  Partly because the diaper cake wasn't there yet. (Diana Bauns mom made it.)  But it was so cute decorated with orange ribbon with yellow polka-dots and everything else circus related.  

 

Raechal Carron of course made the adorable cupcakes, not only were they cute they tasted even better! 

  I made a banner that spelled out the baby's name CORBIN with vintage circus posters at either end.  I hung it over the table above the food.  I thought it looked great.

brought the cute paper goods to match. 

I had an assortment of candy to kind of get in the mood, but not theat many adults took them.  That's okay more for me!  

It may have looked like a simple affair in which it was but it still was fun!

Centenial Farms

Last Thursday Luke had a class field trip to Centenial Farms at the OC Fair Grounds.  We arrived around 12:30p had a picnic lunch and then just wandered around at our own pace to check out the farm.  They had all the regular farm animals there cows, chickens, peacocks, geese, pigs, goats, sheep and rabbits.  Because it was spring there were a ton of baby animals!  We had a really good time and I got to see the most beautiful vegetable gardens.  Seriously it would be my dream to have one that big.  It had to be at least a 1/4 of an acre.  So cool!

Lisa & Ben: Take II

Well I promised you more and boy do I have more!!!  I recently posted about Lisa & Ben and their wedding up at Sundance resort in Utah.   This past weekend we just finished their reception here in California.   It took place in the back yard of Jeana Keough, a former reality star of The Real Housewives of Orange County.  What a wonderful person, I don't think I have ever met someone so genuine and nice to a perfect strangers.  She was truly such a gracious women.

So glad that I was able to meet her.

Lisa's colors were AQUA & CORAL, her theme was rustic feminine.  I loved how she didn't want things to match, she wanted a more eclectic look.  It was so fun to work with.  I am so glad that I was apart of both of these events.

The Photo Booth I wanted a prop so people wouldn't feel awkward just standing in front front of a plain canvas, so I thought of using some open picture frames to use as a prop.  Thanks to my great friend Debbie she was able to pick some up for me a garage sales.  (Thanks Deb, your a life saver!) I really loved it because people used them and it gave the Photo Booth personality.  We also had the candy station which is always a hit!  The last picture is of the sign in table which turned out cute.  Thanks to Lauren the Utah wedding planner for some of her props.  (I really need to get more stuff.)

This photo collage contains my wonderful flower balls.  Aren't they AMAZING!  I just loved them.  I think that they were probably my most favorite thing that I made for the reception.  At Sundance Lisa had these white tissue balls (Sharon, the mother of the Bride gave the them the nickname fluffy puffy's)  hanging all over the place because the barn was so huge.   Here in Ca we really didn't need it so I had 8' shepard hooks that we put along the perimeter of the grass and hung them there. 

I wanted a sign for the guests to know which way to turn.  I did a play on Ballstaedt which is the grooms last name.  I painted the sign on canvas and then put doilies to create a stencil.  I then painted a antique glaze and peeled off the the doilies.  I just loved how this turned out!

My flowers were just so fun.  They speak for themselves. . . GORGEOUS!  There were 15 different tables and no centerpiece was the same.

OH the cake!  A good friend of mine and of the bride did this AMAZING cake.  It is so cool because it was all butter cream frosting with hand piping!  I love, love, love, this cake.  Great job Raechal!!!  Want to check out her blog check it out here.

Isn't Lisa beautiful?  I love halfies. (Halfies are 1/2 white, 1/2 asian. )  The bouquet was a collaboration of corals/yellows/pinks/white flowers.  Peony's are the white fluffy flower, the yellow balls are called billy balls.  The really cool looking brain looking thing is called coxcomb.  Bright. Colorful. Dazzling.

The guests entered in through the front door and then came through the house.  To have a guided pathway to the backyard I made these stands and had mason jars tied with twine with flowers in them.   So cute!  

So there you go, that was what I was doing the past couple of weeks and why my blogging has been lacking.  Check back for more, I have a baby shower that I through that was a vintage circus.

A Must See!

Ahoy Matey!

This was such a fun party I still get giddy thinking about it!  We had such a great turn out, and so many of Luke's friends came dressed to have fun and as you can see so did the whole family.  (Dave and I go the whole nine yards!)  I'm sure your asking yourself is that Captain Jack Sparrow at the party?  You are correct we had him come for the festivities and help find our buried treasure! (This was a classmate of David's from Chapman who dresses as CJS  every year for Halloween. David had mentioned that we were planning a pirate party for Luke and he offered to come and dress up.  It was sooooo cool!)  Thanks Chris your the best!    We couldn't have a party with out food. The spread included Bloodshot Eyes-Deviled Eggs, Shark Bait-Fish crackers, Salted meat and Cheese-Salame and Cheese, Sea Biscuits-Crackers, 

Canon Balls- Black Olives and Fruit & Veggies- To prevent scurvy.  

We had Pirate ships complete with rain gutters to race.  I put ships together ahead of time and then just had them decorate them.  We ended up not racing but they just played with them in the water.

Last but not least we had a great hunt for buried treasure.  

Dave put the clues together they were so cute and then CJS read them aloud as the kids ran around the park.  Here are the clues:

Start:  What say ye?  Are ye brave enough to search for buried treasure? (Aye, it be the golden club ye be searchin' for!)  Arrgh, well then, best be keepin' a sharp lookout for them clues to help ya on yer way!  Savy? Arrgh, here be yer first clue of the day:

-Whar lil' pirates be on the roam, playin' make believe inside the home!  (The clue was in the playhouse)

-Arrgh, so ye be smarter than the average pirate!  Now fer yer next clue: "Walk the high bridge & down the slide too, if yer eyes be attentive you'll know what to do" (It was under the bridge)

-Alas if ye be readin' this yer on the right track, now go find the fountain whar the water ne'er lacks! (Drinking fountain)

-The treasure be close so get ready to dig, down the wee slide & to the LEFT 4 steps big. (They had to dig in the sand to find the bat)

-So here it is, yer very last clue: I'm hidden on deck with a very small crew! (The pirate pinata was on the pirate ship in a wooden box)

-Shiver me timbers, you found me at last!  Now let Luke take a swing at me cast.

This was soooo much fun because CJS read aloud each clue and the kids just ate it up.  I don't think that I have ever seen so many 4-5year olds so engaged.

After the pinata we had cake of course.  It was to windy for candles so Luke faked it.  I originally was going to make the cake myself but time was of the essence.  My mom being the wonderful Nana that she is had the idea to order it from Albertson's in Ladera Ranch.  The cake was to perfect, complete with rigging and crew!  Thanks, Mom!  

It was so fun to have friends and family there and it was such a 

gorgeous day I can't wait till the next party.  

(Oh wait, just look at the next few posts I have quite a few!)

PS these were the cupcakes that I did for Luke to take to school.  It just had to be pirate!
