Prayers

Tonight I went to the funeral home for a friend of mine who delivered her daughter 14 weeks early. She had a little girl, who lived for 2 weeks and very sadly they lost her last Friday. It was probably one of the hardest funerals I have ever attended. Their sweet little baby's casket was so tiny and seeing it just absolutely broke my heart. It's not like this is easier for anyone to deal with but my friend and her husband had to try for a very long time to get pregnant in the first place and to have this happen to them just absolutely rips my heart out.

I cried all the way home and when I got here I went into the girls bedroom. They were still up and I just snuggled them close and counted my blessings. We will never know why God chooses to do some of the things he does but I just thank him every day for giving us the chance to raise our girls. I pray that he allows my friend and her husband the chance to experience being parents again. I want to ask everyone who reads my blog to please say a few prayers for Ashley and Luke that they may find peace and be able to move on from this horrible tragedy.

Twin Talk Vol. 9

I have several funny ones this time, but also some that are more impressive than funny. The only reason it is impressive is because the girls are only 2 and it amazes me that they can correctly use several more grown-up phrases. I'm assuming they just hear us or other people talking and that's where they pick it up, but it still amazes me sometimes.

1. One morning Mya found a battery on Wes' night stand that had fallen out of our remote and she picked it up and calls Stella in the room. She says "Sissy, come on. I found the polish. Sit down I needa paint your nails!" They proceeded to take turns "painting" each other's fingers and toes.

2. This is probably my favorite thing they have ever come up with on their own. One night I was tucking them in to bed and Mya tells me "Mommy, I love you always and always and always and ever and ever and ever". Talk about melting my heart!!!!!!! Since then Stella started doing it and most nights they say it on their own but on the nights they don't I am not ashamed to say I ask them how much they love me so that I can hear it. Music to my ears! :)

3. Sometimes the girls swing at each other and we tell them not to. Mya normally responds with "Ohhhhh, we don't hit peoples?" Remember how I said she acts like it's the first time she's heard something? Silly girl!

4. After bath we normally snuggle as a family in our bed. The girls call it "falamily cuddle time".

5. One morning on our way to our weekly play date with Payne I swung through McDonalds to pick up lattes for Linds and I. As soon as we are in the parking lot they are asking if I am getting a "fweet tea" and when I say no I'm getting coffee Mya tells me that she wants some coffee. I told her she's silly. She says "Oh, little kids don't drink coffee. No just big peoples like Mommy and Lindsay drink coffee. Little kids drink milk and ice water."

6. The girls, especially Stella, are very interested in finding the moon in the sky. During the day they know that it is harder to see it but sometimes they can find it. One night it was raining and Mya asked me "Is the moon gonna take a bath?"

7. Probably Wes' favorite thing he ever heard from the girls: Mya: "Daddy I wanna cuddle you and watch soccer balls!" Stella hears this and comes and says "No Daddy, I wanna cuddle you and watch Joey Botto!"

8. Ok this one is probably TMI and I'm sorry but it is funny. I was getting out of the shower and Mya walked in my bathroom. I didn't have a shirt on yet and she smiles and says "Mommy I wanna eat those!" I asked what she wanted to eat. She laughed and said "You boobies! I wanna eat those!" She thought this was hilarious. This has happened twice. I nursed them until they were 18 months and it seems impossible to me that they could remember it but maybe they do.

9. At church, Stella laid her head down and closed her eyes and told Wes "I'm just gonna take a nap and listen to God".

10. The girls were slamming the door and I came in and told them they need to stop. Mya went to do it again and Stella yells "NO! Mya!!! We need to be gentle."

11. I enjoy my "fweet tea" and the girls know that we sometimes make special trips to get Daddy a fountain "Diet Monna Dew".

12. Anytime I tell Mya not to do something and explain why it would hurt her or it would cause a problem she always says "No, we don't want that to happen."

13. They love to ride their tricycles around the house. Sometimes they take the easy way out and call them their bikes but normally they call them "trice-guh-gull" (Mya) and "tricey-goal" (Stella).

14. Stella was studying my face one day and pointed to my eyebrow and asked me what it was. I told her and pointed out that she has some too. Ever since then she likes to talk about our "eyebrowns". Daddy says she needs to get used them and love 'em cause she was graced with the lovely thick Rethman eyebrows! He also told me I need to learn how to wax or we will be spending a lot of money doing that when they get older. LOL

15. I asked Stella to give me a kiss while she was jumping on the trampoline. She says "Hold on, Mommy, I need to jump real quick". Hold on? Real quick? Hmmmmmm?!!?!?!

16. We were getting ready to take a bath and Stella tells me "I need to do it by myself, ok Mommy? I put my foot in and then my other foots and then my booty and who-ha."

Fun at the Foundation

My super-mommy friend, Kelly, always has all of these ideas for fun things to do with her family. Luckily, she posts them on her blog and so if it is something we haven't done we usually end up doing it. Recently Kelly posted that her family went to the 577 Foundation in Perrysburg and the pictures looked really fun. Last Saturday my sister asked if we would like to meet her and the kids there for the morning and then head to the park for some playing and a picnic. I was up really late the night before so I was pretty tired and look a little rough in the pics. Randomly, Sophie and the girls had the same pants on so it made for cute pictures. We had a lot of fun and will definitely go back for some more free fun!

Ash said we should pose. Wes and I were pretending to take senior pictures. LOL

Mya hates when she gets "tones" in her sandals.....lucky for her she has a caring Daddy to take care of that for her! ;)

After we left the Foundation we went down the street to the park. I didn't take many pics because it was crowded and I needed my eyes and hands free at all times.

We ate a picnic lunch and then went to get some ice cream. We had a lot of fun!

A Little Photo Shoot

Before heading to church on Tuesday night I took the girls outside at my father-in-law's house to take some pictures. It was a beautiful day and they looked so cute in their dresses. Plus, I wanted to get some pics of Mya's new do! As always, Stella was more than willing to cheese for the camera and Mya was not. I got a few cute ones though! I was trying to get them warmed up for their professional pictures they were getting taken on last night. Can't wait to see those!

Mya's First Haircut!

As I mentioned in my last post we took Mya to get her first haircut ever today. Wes' cousin, Ashley, works at All About You in Fort Loramie and we had asked if she could do something with Mya's poor hair. It is very thin and looks like it is breaking on top so it sticks up all over the place. The back grew in really funny and was all uneven and scraggly looking. Ash said sure and that she could do something. Our appointment was at 4:00 and we ended up having to wake Mya up from her nap to get up there. This was probably perfect planning because she was still pretty sleepy and out of it. She sat there completely stone-faced the whole time. It was hilarious. We invited YaYa and YoYo to come watch too and so she had a lot of people she knows and loves trying to make her say something or smile but she just sat there so serious. I was okay with that though because I really thought she was going to be scared and cry. Ash ended up cutting about an inch off the back and stacking it into a little bob. She trimmed the sides so that they were even. She couldn't do anything about the already broken pieces but told us about this spray she uses to hold them down. We bought some of it so hopefully that helps. She said they may not necessarily be broken but instead new growth underneath. She also said that cutting her hair will help it grow and be more even. She looks absolutely adorable and older and I LOVE how it turned out! I have an envelope with her little hair clippings to put in her baby book. The last picture I was trying to get Ashley with Mya but she would not look at the camera.....little stinker! Ash gave them each a new comb to take home and a sucker. It was a success and hopefully we will be able to have Ash do all of their cuts in the future
