Happy Birthday to Me!

My 29th birthday was on April 15th.  My parents planned a dinner to celebrate but we had to push it a few weeks back due to schedule problems with everyone.  They made a delicious meal of grilled chicken, baked potatoes, corn, a strawberry walnut salad, bread and apple cake for dessert!  It was insanely good!  I got some wonderful presents and had a great time celebrating with my family!
Stella loves to wear her glasses on her head just like Mommy!  :)
Check out Sophie's adorable and LONG hair!
Gosh my niece is cute!

Kisses for Papa!

Ash trying on her freshman year homecoming dress.  It still fits and it's a size 1!!!
My apple cake!  YUMMMMY!

Zach couldn't make it but my other siblings were there to celebrate!

I heart Sophie's smile! :)

Run, Baby Run!

The Rethman girls are so super proud of our hubby/Daddy! On April 22nd he ran in the Glass City Half Marathon.  His hard word over the last few years building up to this event certainly paid off.  He set his goal of 1 hour and 45 minutes and followed some training programs to meet that.  His final time was 1 hour and 44 minutes!!!!  Way to go, Wesley!!!! Our little ladies were so excited when he got home and wanted to take pictures with him.  So cute!

Twin Talk Vol. 18

*Mya was playing with my wedding ring and I told her to NEVER touch it because it was very important and special to me. Stella asks me “Did Daddy melt your heart with that?”
*Mya was going potty and Stella came in the bathroom with us. She tells me she needs to turn the fan on because it smells like poop in here. I told her no one is pooping so no it does not and to leave the fan alone. She says “Well, it smells like spiders then.” I told her you can't smell spiders and she says “Yeah, uhcuz when the squirms come out so do the spiders and you can smell 'em!” Haha!
*While we were trying to get ready and get out the door I told Stella to go get a diaper and the wipes and take them to Daddy and ask him to change her diaper. I had to ask her like 700 times and the last time I was pretty stern with her about it. She gave me “the look” and then walked out of the room and said “My mom is SERIOUS!”
*Mya and I were driving home from her doctor's appointment and while we were sitting at a light in front of a McDonald's she says “Ohhhh I have an M too mommy! M for Mya! But that big yellow M means sweet tea, right Mommy?” Haha!
*We were waiting in the drive-thru at Rite Aid waiting to pick up my prescription when the song we were listening to ended and Stella says to me “Wow, Mom, that was a really great song!”. *Sidenote: She has been calling me “Mom” off and on and I simply do NOT like it! My babies are way to young to be calling me anything other than Mommy!
*Daddy was leaving for a run and Mya asked if she could go with him. He told her not yet but when she is a little bit bigger he will take her because he is going to school her on running. She came running to me in another room and yelled excitedly “Mommy, when I am a little bit bigger Daddy is going to school me!!!!!!” They actually are signed up for their first race on May 12th. The Dart Frog Dash at the Toledo Zoo is a 1K and they will probably be the youngest girls at the race along with their cousin, Sophie!
*Stella and I were searching for her Crocs. I had actually sent her looking first and she came back telling me she couldn't find them. So I went with her to look and we moved their backpacks and she found the Crocs behind them in the closet. She laughed out loud and said “Ahhh, ya silly goof! I told'ya they were in there!”
*The girls love to figure out what words and names start with because they know all the letters and their sounds. Mya told me “Mommy, you have a C in your Casey name and an M in your Mommy name!”
*The girls are really observant when we are driving and always asking questions. They know what a stop sign means and what the different colors on the stoplight mean. We were stopped at a red light on the way to Columbus and Wes turned right on red. Mya yelled “Daddy, what are you doing????? You turned on red!” Daddy then explained that sometimes you are allowed to turn right on red unless there is a sign telling you otherwise. She seemed okay with that explanation. Haha! Driver's Ed should be a breeze!
*We went to a hotel with Wes' family and the girls were having a hard time going to bed so I laid down with them. Stella snuggled up really close to my face and was rubbing the arms of the fleece I was wearing and said “Mommy, you are so nice and so cute and so soft! I love you so much!”
*My mother-in-law got me a bunch of charms for my Pandora bracelet for my birthday. The little jewelry boxes were sitting on our kitchen table and Mya came over and said “Mommy, are your charms for your ba-racelet in those little boxes that are rectangles?” I told her she was so smart and yes they were.

Easter 2012

Easter began for us on Saturday with a trip down to Fort Loramie to see Wes's side of our family.  We went to Grandma Theis' house at noon, where we ate lunch and the girls hunted eggs.

After we left Great-Grandma Theis' house we headed over to visit Great Grandma and Grandpa Rethman.  No pictures though.  Then we headed back to Grandpa's house because Aunt Morgan had baskets for the girls and wanted to have them hunt for some eggs too.  Morgan's maturity and thoughtfulness blows me away.

Here's where I get really sad......Saturday night after we got home from Loramie I worked really hard and finished my class that I had signed up to take.  That was such a weight off of my shoulders, but as I was getting into bed I was freezing and felt achy.  I woke up many times that night definitely having a fever and I couldn't swallow.  I knew right away it was strep and I was pissed!  By the morning I felt miserable.  I was dizzy and nauseous.  I stayed in bed ALL day on Sunday, which meant I missed the girls getting their baskets, egg hunting, church and then my extended families Easter celebration of watching the Mudhens play.  Wes was Super Daddy that day!  I'm so grateful that he took pictures so I could see what I missed.  In their baskets they got pajamas, bubble bath, chapsticks, books, chocolate/peanut butter bears and 2 matching games.
